Myriad Devils-Chapter 142: I am so I Am
There were many drifting rocks throughout the skies of this particular region of the Lost Lands.
And on one of the many barren drifting rocks, two individuals stood on the edge as they observed a foreign rock above them.
Anon glanced at Seth, and then his eyes trailed downwards. In the depths of his eyes, a dark gold light burned.
This dark gold light also appeared on Seth’s left index finger where a black ring resided.
Shedding its black color, it transformed into a dark gold ring that flickered twice before disappearing from Seth’s finger and appearing on Anon’s right index finger.
He observed his five fingers and mused inwardly, ’I do not necessarily fancy rings, but this dark gold color is rather charming. At the end of this path, when I marry, my wife and I will adorn dark gold rings.’
Thinking about this, there was a playful light in his eyes.
Even he himself was not sure if he thought of such things at times only to relax his mind, or as a form of jest.
Such fantasies, he did not know whether he would ever have the luxury of playing out.
Evidently, if he had no obstructions, and there was no one or thing that could stand before him, then there was no reason for Anon to not grow soft.
At that time, Anon could transform into a myriad of things.
A ferocious devil that kills ten billion, a saint that saves one hundred billion, or the lord of strange things that torments one trillion!
A loving husband, a doting father, a drunkard...
A businessman, an addict, a vagrant, a lone traverser of the void...
Naturally, all of this would only be possibilities if he were to actually reach the end of this path.
Right now though, he was not strong enough to even have assurance of his survival.
As his thoughts reached here, his gaze became frosty as the light in the depths of his eyes grew heated with determination and will.
Even if his odds were not high, once his will did not break, and he refused death, then there would still be odds.
Once there was odds, it meant that there was a chance.
Once there was a chance, he would do everything he possibly could, and just a little more, to grasp hold of this chance.
No matter what, he would reach the end of this path.
Slaying Seth!
Killing the human lord...!
Extinguishing eldritch entities!!
Murdering creatures observing from the shadows!!!
And even severing the unseen hands that attempt at manipulating all things!
’In the end, I will be the last one standing.’ Anon’s mind was reinforced with a thick wall of willpower as he thought of this.
So with such thoughts, he was not embarrassed to ask Seth for help, "Seth."
He called out whilst extending his hand.
The latter smirked and grabbed him.
As they lifted off the ground, a mighty force pressed down against their bodies.
The higher they went, the more intense gravity became, and though, due to the strength of their ’base’ states, it was almost imperceptible before, as they stepped foot onto the foreign drifting rock, the intensity of gravity suddenly amplified to such a degree that they had no choice but to take notice.
Hmmm...
Seth’s eyes glowed with a deep light as his aura became more pronounced.
Although this action would make it more obvious to whatever monstrosity inhabiting this drifting rock, that there were visitors, neither Anon, nor Seth, appeared to care in the slightest.
Maybe it was due to Anon grasping the Top-tier technique, but there was a newfound sense of confidence oozing from his eyes.
Although a Top-tier spear technique was created for second world stellar fighters, Anon’s mastery over the spear had not just reached the level of mastery, which greatly amplified the strength he could showcase using spear techniques, but had also gone one step further.
Achieving this pseudo true mastery level was completely unheard of for second worlders.
So, even if his ’base’ strength was only comparable to the second layer of the second world, the strength that he would be capable of dishing out, could very well touch the threshold of the third world.
It was not wrong to say that his strength had already returned to the peak of the second world, or even gone a step above, becoming comparable to his past self.
Obviously, his spirit was damaged, and his magical attacks were lacking, but he made up with brute strength that, alongside a Top-tier spear technique, could explode with endless might, or more accurately, complex might!
’I have no fear towards low-level beast generals anymore.’ Anon thought, and said to Seth, "Why don’t you allow me to handle this one?"
Although he asked this, the tattoo on his hand began squirming, lifting from his palm, before transforming into a black spear that he twirled masterfully.
He had already stepped forward, and battle intent was already leaking from his eyes. However, when Seth heard and saw this, he chuckled to himself.
"What is so funny?" Anon heard this and immediately stopped in his tracks.
"Have you not realized the drastic difference in this drifting rock, compared to the previous two? Besides the gravity, its size is also much greater..." Seth explained.
Once Anon heard this, he was brought into a state of silence as he truly reflected on this foreign environment.
This could not be helped.
It had been around three months since the use of the wormhole anklets. And Anon’s hatred and frustration had been festering for some time.
Although his spirit and cultivation base had not recovered, his strength had increased considerably.
If he was to confront his old self, it would not only be a unique battle of principles versus battle arts, and magic versus physical strength, but it would also be an equal battle.
Via another pathway, he had regained his former strength, greatly taming the festering hatred in his heart, and replacing it with eagerness to battle once more, on a level he was familiar with.
"Do you think that we’ll be facing a low-level beast general here too?" Seth asked sarcastically.
Anon did not reply to Seth’s sarcasm.
He spun the spear in his hand as he turned around and brushed past Seth, approaching the edge of the drifting rock before taking a seat.
He embraced the spear with a defeated expression.
Within his embrace, the spear released slight tremors that Anon reacted to, whispering to the spear, "I know, I know."
Seth saw this and could not help but smile.
’He did not complain when I was teaching him, and he committed fully to learning. He may not realize it, but he learns at the speed of a true genius, close to my speed back then. If not for the greater plot, I would not mind taking him in as my direct disciple.’ Seth mused inwardly.
His eyes flashed with a moment of radiance as he thought whilst glancing towards the skies high above, ’He would’ve been the eight.’
"Oh? It seems like we’ve got company." Anon suddenly blurted out, grasping Seth’s attention.
Right after Seth heard Anon’s words...
Boom!
There was an explosion in the distance. And almost immediately after the first explosion...
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A multitude of booming explosions followed.
Anon was the first to see.
Sitting at the edge of the drifting rock, he faced the entire landmass. On the other hand, Seth had been turned to him, his back was instead facing the expanse.
"Oh, it would seem that I’ll be stepping into this battle." Anon grinned from ear to ear.
Yet, the scene behind Seth’s back was not something that should’ve even brought about a grin on his face.
Seth slowly turned around, and his blood red orbs shone with magical luster.
Four low-level beast generals!
’Well, isn’t this unexpected?’ Seth knitted his brows.
At the same time, Anon brushed past him with his spear resting against his shoulder.
’Four beast generals, coexisting?’ Seth mused inwardly, ’This is slightly odd, isn’t it? I’m sure Anon is aware of this peculiarity as well.’
Kissing his teeth, he observed the back of Anon’s head with visible annoyance.
"Anon, don’t just rush in." Seth frowned deeply.
’Firstly, you aren’t even their match.’ Seth assessed.
Maybe battling one beast general was Anon’s limit, and even if one was to stretch this limit, it would certainly begin breaking at two, and be completely shattered at three.
Confronting four beast generals was above and beyond Anon’s capabilities.
’More importantly, beast generals working together is too strange.’ Seth pondered.
"I know." Anon had just brushed past Seth when he came to a stop and said.
"But I can’t help it." He turned to Seth, and his eyes were unable to hide the unrestrainable battle intent that was festering.
"Acting on impulse is not like you, nor is it like me. However, at this very moment, I really can’t help it. I know very well, but my body is moving on its own." Anon smiled helplessly as he turned to face the group of beast generals, "I can’t stop myself, so I only ask you for help."
What he meant was for Seth to, just this once, lower his cautiousness and step alongside him into this strange battle.
And as the latter walked further away, Seth, upon hearing this plea from him, stared at Anon’s back for a while.
Slowly, a smile grew on his face.
"Cautiousness?" Seth repeated this under his breath before uttering out loud, "As more time passes, you come to know less and less about me."
Stepping forward, his figure seemed to freeze in time, but began fading away into bloody particles soon after.
Generating a false body, he appeared alongside Anon whilst his thoughts multiplied within his mind.
’I’ve walked unhesitatingly into the dangerous territories of eldritch horrors.’
’I’ve refused to die on many occasions due to mere pride.’
’I’ve slaughtered the armies of empires due to an insatiable lust.’
’I’ve stolen from rulers due to an unquenching greed.’
’I’ve slain nine generations because of a moment’s wrath.’
Seth thoughts flowed like a flowing river.
’What caution?’ 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
’What fear?’
’I do whatever I want, whenever I want.’
’If I am to do something, it is because I can, I am.’
’I am so I Am!’
