Myriad Devils-Chapter 141: Joy
"Human." Seth sighed.
There was a great amount of battle intent leaking from Anon’s eyes. Maybe the latter had not even realize it, but Seth saw through a great many things.
’This confrontation is several transformations too early.’ Seth deemed himself above certain things, and concepts. This included momentarily impulsiveness and emotional imbalances.
When reaching here, Seth waved his hand in front of Anon’s face and said to him, "Are you planning to learn this Top-tier technique or not?"
The previous anger in his voice had disappeared without a trace.
As he was not privy to Seth’s inner deductions, Anon was caught by surprise.
It was as if the entity that had been building up to a confrontation had been replaced by a foreign being, a pacifistic soul.
Or maybe, it was as if he had been reset to the instance before the momentary confrontation had begun.
Anon felt this strangeness and stopped his footsteps toward Seth.
He remained silent for a moment, clicking his tongue in wonder.
"Alright then." Anon said softly.
...
There was a period that followed, in which, silence was omnipresent.
The howling winds remained ever present, and Seth remained steadfast in his teachings.
As the student, inheriting the knowledge of the teacher, Anon was similarly steadfast in his perseverance.
He did not show any signs of weariness towards learning, even if he was genuinely tired.
At times, his movements would be off by mere inches, but Seth would pick up on this and berate him ruthlessly.
Tch.
Seth was incredibly arrogant in his demeanor while teaching Anon, but Anon bore it all and chose instead to absorb Seth’s lessons.
At times, his grip on the spear would be too tight, or he would hold the shaft incorrectly for that particular action.
Top-tier techniques were not base off of a measly handful of basic techniques, but were dozens and sometimes even several dozens of High-tier techniques melded seamlessly.
This allowed for their strength to be dozens an even tens of dozens of times beyond High-tier techniques.
Anon had realized this.
The difficulty of grasping a Top-tier technique was incredibly high.
It was not something that he had experienced before.
But he did not show discomfort.
Circles had long formed under his eyes, and his swarthy skin had become sickly pale.
His already malnourished body underwent a second state of withering!
Though his ’base’ state had underwent evolution, the skin on his palms had underwent such a high intensity of friction, and had been torn apart progressively over time, at a pace faster than his own natural regeneration.
Because the duo did not waste the Longevity Healing Gourd, or any of their treasures for the matter, callouses had formed on Anon’s palms and grew rough from the strenuous training.
His breathing sometimes faltered, not aligning with the particular breathing pattern of this technique, and with Seth’s sharp gaze and perked up ears, he would be brought aware.
When this occurred, the session, no matter how long it was going for, whether that be for less than an hour, or for the seventh hour of the day, transitioning into the night, would come to a halt.
Seth would simply walk away and only return the next day, or night.
This continued for several weeks.
The year had exited 83 and entered 2084, but the duo had not given it the slightest thought.
It might have been the third month or possibly even the fourth, but that was unimportant to them.
Back in the military academy, the events of assassination followed by Seth’s transformation and disappearance would’ve resounded throughout the academy, generating a wave of shock that stunned instructors and students alike.
However, with the time that had already gone by, it was highly unlikely that there were people who still had Anon and Seth in their minds.
Humans were like this.
Though their reactions may very well be strong the moment after seeing an injustice, once this did not directly implicate them, soon after, they will grow cold to said injustice.
To top it off, what occurred to Anon and Seth had nothing to do with them.
At the same time, if Anon was still in the academy, he would certainly be glorified if word got out, that he had grasped a Top-tier technique...
...
Though there were countless celestial bodies covering the skies, light still made its way through the barricade separating the skies and the Lost Lands beneath the drifting rocks.
Leaning against a large stone that jutted out of the earth, Anon sat with his eyes closed, and his spear leaning against his shoulder, trapped in his embrace.
His pants were tattered and his upper body was revealed, showcasing his deplorable state.
His swarthy skin shimmered under the light from the sun, and his black hair, that had grown slightly past his shoulder, carried a glossy shine.
Anon’s eyelashes trembled and his eyes were barely able to open. But through the splits, one would be able to see the dazzling appearance of his two dark gold orbs.
He rested his head against the cloud severing spear as a dim light flashed in the very depths of his dark gold eyes.
"I can hear your murmurs." He softly whispered to the spear.
His eyes could barely open, but he smiled weakly as his dark gold orbs reached the corners of his eyes and glanced at the black spear.
Different from before, those eyes that landed on his cloud severing spear carried more emotion than what he had ever shown.
For a first time, Anon’s eyes showed an emotion that resembled love and affection.
This emotion was directed at the cloud severing spear in his embrace.
Simultaneously, far into the distance, standing at the drifting rock’s edge, Seth stared higher into the sky, towards a foreign drifting rock.
’This drifting rock is much larger than the one we’re on, and the previous one.’ Seth mused inwardly.
There was not a trace of worry in his eyes though.
Death was not something that was capable of giving him fear, nor was it something that had any effect on him.
’Death has no power over me.’ Seth’s eyes were calm as he seemed to sense something and turned around, locking eyes onto a figure in the distance.
’But he seems to be on the brink.’ Seth smiled meaningfully and made his way towards Anon. As he did so, his figure was akin to a mirage as several afterimages formed in his wake.
There was a black ring on his left index finger that trembled slightly. Making his way towards Anon, he opened his palm, allowing for an azure plum to appear.
He appeared before Anon and stooped, slowly revealing the azure plum in his hand.
"You’ve earned it." He said.
"I do not need it." Anon concisely replied.
If rest could heal them, they both agreed to utilize rest.
At this point, they were not in a great rush, and time had become something that was not in high demand.
Utilizing it to the fullest and healing using it was best.
Only with injuries that were simply too damaging to the spirit, would they have a need to use the azure plum.
Anon’s injuries to his spirit which he sustained when using the Arcane-grade wormhole anklets was, luckily for him, not an injury that threatened his life.
However, it was still an injury that was too severe even for the azure plums to heal.
On the other hand, what he currently felt was an immense exhaustion.
"A little rest, and I’ll be fine." Anon could barely keep his eyes open as he said this.
"If you close your eyes and rest, I’m almost certain it will be an eternal one. Your spirit was already damaged greatly before you exhausted yourself the first time. And you’ve done it once again, not long after doing it whilst I was recovering." Seth spoke with reasoning.
Anon heard this and frowned.
However, he still opened his mouth slightly, allowing Seth to gently place the azure plum in his mouth.
When Seth’s finger grazed Anon’s lip, he chuckled mischievously.
Tch.
Anon wanted to curse, but because of the azure plum in his mouth, only his expression showed his obvious displeasure.
At the same time, a refreshing sensation assaulted his mind...
Like suddenly submerging oneself in a cold pool of water after exhausting ones body under the hot sun, Anon was thrown into a realm of refreshing pleasure.
"Ughhh..." Due to this pleasure, he could not help but release an unintentional moan.
Seth’s mischievous chuckling quickly transformed into a burst of unbridled laughter as he clutched his abdomen and rose to his feet.
Anon’s eyes opened wide as he quickly realized what had escaped his lips, but Seth did not give him any room to hide his shame.
Rocking his head back, Seth’s laughter intensified, resounding throughout the heavenly skies and shaking the great mother earth!
Shooting up to his feet, Anon’s spear transformed into characters that attached themselves onto his palm and hand as he shot towards Seth and tackled him angrily.
It seemed as if he had made an instant recovery.
Seth though, did not stop his laughter even when Anon attempted to hinder his breathing by choking his neck.
This was a first.
As if to celebrate Anon’s great success, the two had a hearty time.
Anon continuously pummeled Seth whose body revealed a dark aura as he continued to release an endless boisterous laughter that echoed into the far reaches of the drifting rock.
In this state, though Anon took out his annoyance and anger on Seth, the latter seemed almost immune to Anon’s physical attacks.
He did not seem to mind it as Anon, who attacked him, found visible joy in these actions.
The two, one laughed out loud and the other felt a pure joy within, continued their playful antics for some time.
