Chapter 117: Inside the small mountain

Within the small mountain, the world that unraveled before their eyes was completely unexpected.

’Maybe they weren’t actually guards.’ Coupled with the sight before him, Anon remembered how casual the monkeys at the entrance were and couldn’t help but think this.

There were dozens, if not over a hundred one-winged monkeys gathered around, dancing and chanting as they surrounded a small pond that produced greenish fog, looking on with visible excitement at the scenes taking place within the pond.

Inside the pond there were another dozen, or so one-winged monkeys soaked in not just the pond’s water, but their own blood too!

They were covered in vicious wounds whilst they ruthlessly and savagely attacked each other.

But strangely, none of them seemed to be afraid of death, nor afraid of killing their own people.

Interestingly, green particles permeating the air were drawn towards the wounds on their bodies, causing these wounds to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye.

For the most part, Seth and Anon’s peripheral vision was taken up by these same shimmering green particles permeating the air and radiating an endless aura of life and vitality.

Once they had entered, Anon had taken a deep breath of air, and as the air seeped into the depths of his lungs, a great sense of comfort and relaxation welled up in his chest.

Seth’s lips curled upwards the instance he had entered the small mountain, and his eyes lit up with a heated gaze as his vision landed on the sight that was before him.

He completely ignored the one-winged monkeys.

There was a small pond that was covered by greenish fog, but he ignored that too.

Seth’s attention wasn’t on the monkeys, the fog, or the pond, but instead, the object that floated in the air above it.

Levitating in the air was a wine gourd that sometimes trembled with pure energy.

Overflowing from the mouth of the gourd was a green liquid that pulsated with vitality.

Each droplet that fell into the pond buzzed with vibrance, as if capable of breathing life into the oldest of corpses.

It was the true reason behind the one-winged monkeys’ rapid healing factor as they continued to put on a show for their spectators.

At times, a one-winged monkey would be severely injured and step under the gourd, and as a single droplet fell atop its head, its wounds would all rapidly heal, almost instantaneously!

Anon and Seth exchanged glances.

There was a dark light that shone in the depths of Seth’s eyes. Upon sensing this, Anon grinned and approached the pond.

His figure was elusive in nature, brushing past the unaware one-winged monkeys that observed the happenings in the pond.

There were even some that flapped their wings and were in the air observing the fighting monkeys.

They had even better views than those on the ground, so they made the most noise.

The pond water was chaotic and rowdy due to the battle taking place.

As he approached the floating gourd, Anon’s heart thumped with excitement.

At the same time, a one-winged monkey was rushing towards him with endless savagery in its eyes!

Taking a step back, he dodged the creature as it launched a series of attacks towards another monkey, slashing with its claws, driving with its wing, and biting with its fangs.

Anon then extended his hand towards wine gourd...

Buzz!

The moment he touched the gourd, Anon sensed an indescribable force seeping into his hand before driving into the depths of his body.

’Oh?’ His brows rose in surprise.

Right after, the overflowing green liquid stopped flowing, and the gourd began trembling violently.

The one-winged monkeys were caught by surprise and stood their stupidly, observing the odd changes happening before their eyes, visibly shocked.

Using this opportunity, Seth’s spirit drew strength from his principle.

As if exhaling a breath of air, he blew out, and what escaped his lips were runic characters that traversed the surroundings and approached Anon.

They wrapped around the wine gourd, and as Anon pulled at the gourd, the runic characters shattered, a second gourd formed, overflowing with green particles, and the gourd in Anon’s hand disappeared after being swallowed by a blue light originating from the bracelet on his wrist.

Though the green particles did not contain the same properties as the previous ones, and it was only similar appearance-wise, the one-winged monkeys who had seen these indescribable events, did not care.

The dumb beasts quickly forgot the strange activities that had taken place.

As time passed, and the gourd did not make any more changes, the one-winged monkeys returned to their previous state of excitement and savagery.

The monkeys in the pond who had previously stopped mid-fight, made peculiar noises before launching at their foes once again.

Once wounds began forming, and blood splashed into the surroundings, the fighting monkeys slowly began to realize something amiss.

The wounds on their bodies grew worse and worse and yet did not show any signs of healing.

Some eased their attacks, but after being assaulted by their companions, grew frustrated and aggressively attacked once again.

Before long, the savage but playful fight became a genuine deathly battle.

The spectating one-winged monkeys became even more rowdy after the fight became more crazed.

This only fueled the savagery of the fighting monkeys, so what it brought was inevitable.

The spectating monkeys, and the fighting ones did not gain clarity until the death of one of them.

As the wine gourd overflowing with green liquid failed to heal even after they stood directly under it, a one-winged monkey snatched it out of the air and held it in its hand, observing it with confusion.

It shook the gourd as if that would change something, but surprisingly, it did indeed cause a change to take place!

The gourd trembled lightly before it begun crumbling into dark red fragments.

As these fragments of light slipped through the one-winged monkey’s fingers, and fell towards the ground, they glowed with a dark light and radiated a vile aura...

The crumbling gourd released a thick bloody scent, and the overflowing green liquid changed color, becoming dark red.

The monkey holding the gourd was closest and had no time to react whatsoever.

Its head was instantly swallowed as the sound of a flowing river resounded out, followed by a blood river that rushed into the air, towards the one-winged monkeys that were present there.

But even though the attack was too sudden for the monkeys to save themselves, they remained alive and well as the forming blood river dissipated into crimson particles before it could’ve properly formed.

Magical attacks were created by the principle, but they were fueled by stellar cosmic energy. With the blood river lacking fuel, it broke down and dissipated. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

By now, Anon and Seth had created such a distance between them and the base that he could not refuel his magical attack either.

The one-winged monkeys only saw two deaths, and yet, the entire gathering was in disarray.

From the magical attacks that disappeared, to the deaths of two of their kind, and most importantly, the disappearance of the treasure that they had built home around, the one-winged monkeys began bellowing out in shock and anger, rushing out of the small mountain’s entrance, and growing even more chaotic.

Before long, droves of one-winged monkeys flew in all directions screaming towards the heavens!

...

Once exiting the small mountain, Anon and Seth did not rush in the direction that they came from.

Instead, they moved in the direction that would lead them to another base.

Though the closest base was the one in the center of the other four bases, that base also had the most amount of monkeys.

Heading towards that base meant that they were prepared to possibly expose themselves.

More importantly, as it was the center base, highly likely, it meant that the most valuable treasure was located there.

Even though they had already stolen one, if the treasure in the main base was to go missing, the one-winged monkeys might very well leave this territory with said treasures.

As of now, Anon and Seth had only poked the hornets’ nest, and the monkeys were more eager to locate the thieves rather than being fearful of them.

This would change if these thieves were capable of plundering from the main base where the quantity of one-winged monkeys was monumentally higher.

"When you looked at me with those eyes, I was more expecting a mass assassination of those one-winged monkeys. Instead, we ended up conning our way out of their home. Demonic nature was it? Since when was your principle capable of doing that?!" Anon looked at Seth with a quizzical gaze.

"Demonic nature is only limited by my imagination and the amount of stellar cosmic energy I can manipulate." Seth said this and smiled.

Anon frowned.

He found Seth’s words hard to believe.

After all, if what Seth said was true, such a principle would be too overpowered.

Anon released a heavy sigh and outstretched his hand. Tapping on his wrist, the accessory wrapped around his wrist lit up and revealed a holographic box radiating a bluish hue.

Taking out the gourd, Anon asked Seth with palpable excitement in his voice, "Do you know what this thing is?"
