Myriad Devils-Chapter 107: Offering greetings to the Red Ape beast general
Omnipresent throughout the Blood-Drip Jungle was a familiar stench. This bloody air permeated throughout, a constant reminder to visitors, the nature of this kind of chaotic territory.
But across the jungle, there were special areas where this scent was especially noticeable.
It was to the point that from great distances away, one would begin to perceive the subtle differences that wafted the air.
One such place was an open field.
Maybe, in the future, visitors would give this open field a true title.
After all, littered across this field was such a high amount of nutrients for the Blood-Drip Jungle that, its appearance was destined to alter.
However, as of right now, what was had not transformed into what was to come.
Here, the scent of blood and death hung heavily in the air. Across the field were small mountains of one-winged monkey corpses, their bodies broken and battered.
Between these mountains, rivers of blood gushed...
More than that, there were corpses of varying monsters, their beast commander auras staining the air in their surroundings, but slowly fading away due to their eternal demise.
And then, at the center of it all, a mountainous body sat.
Its fur was dark and even though it was just there, sitting, it was towering!
This was a beast general in its flesh.
And it was wide awake!
...
"Ah, though I expected this, it’s still shocking to see." Anon mumbled as he took in the image of so many beastly corpses.
’From over a mile away, the scent of blood had thickened, but this is still a little beyond my expectations.’ Anon thought this and shook his head.
"Oh?"
The duo drew closer to the open field.
The towering trees had become less and less, until they eventually stepped into the field. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Anon’s thoughts were stopped by Seth who said with intrigue, "Look, it’s welcoming us."
"Welcoming us...?" Anon’s voice trailed as he looked at where Seth pointed.
The sitting Red Ape still towered over them by a great amount. It’s sitting body was over ten times larger than them at full stretch.
But neither Anon nor Seth truly seemed worried.
The Red Ape’s aura was faint and its breath was weak.
Across its body were countless wounds, gashes, and gaping holes.
Blood spewed out at times, making a mess.
Meanwhile, there was a constant flow of blood that oozed from its body and tainted the ground.
It appeared so weak that one might even wonder if it could rise to its feet.
Naturally, neither Anon nor Seth, confident in their strength even if it was against a perfectly healthy beast general, were worried.
Seeing them appear before it, surprisingly, the Red Ape’s blood-colored eyes merely observed them, lacking any reaction, whether that be aggression or otherwise.
Even as the duo approached the beast, it remained still.
’Will we even get to fight it?’ Anon mused.
To him, it appeared that it was simply too weak to even bother putting up a fight.
’Then again, we’ve yet to show it any murderous aura.’ Anon thought.
Then, his eyes trailed as he looked into the distance, towards a particular direction.
Already in the second layer of the second world, his vision was strong enough to easily make out the two pieces of his old staff still plunged into a tree trunk.
But his eyes were focused more on a gurgling pool that spat out a strange black liquid into the air.
Returning his gaze to the beast, he thought, ’Well, it makes things easier too. My magical item can only evolve after this Red Ape dies.’
Death.
He had only mused over its death, and yet, his eyes revealed a ruthless glint.
In the depths of these gold amber eyes, there was a ferocious light that had taken root, nurturing itself slowly.
It disappeared immediately after making an appearance, but the Red Ape had already perceived its deathly intent.
Naturally, it reacted.
The Red Ape titled its head to the side and frowned.
Seth was the first to sense its change.
Just then, it lifted its right arm and clenched its hand, forming a fist.
Seth retreated immediately, grabbing Anon’s arm and yanking him backwards as the beast general’s arm crashed into the earth.
Boom!
An explosion of debris and dust burst out into the surroundings. A plume of smoke took shape as the Red Ape’s figure was swallowed.
For a moment, it was difficult to make out the beast general’s body!
But as Anon and Seth touched the ground, the Red Ape shot out of the smoke, its towering body lunging towards the duo with freakish speed.
As their feet landed on the ground, they shot into the sky.
Barely dodging the incoming beast general, their spirits manipulated stellar cosmic energy and they drew out power from their principle, remaining in the air, levitating.
Almost seventy meters into the sky, they looked down at the towering Red Ape. Still, its body was barely over thirty meters.
Even if it stretched out its hands, it couldn’t reach them.
Naturally, this wasn’t a problem to a beast general like the Red Ape.
Beneath its body, the earth trembled and cracked as it failed to bear the immense power coursing through the beast’s gigantic body.
Caving in, several eruptions rung out as the earth gave way and a massive crater took shape. At the same time, the Red Ape’s figure rocketed into the sky, grasping out towards the duo.
Both of their auras exploded outwards, twisting the surrounding atmosphere as they manipulated their way through the sky.
Evading the Red Ape’s arm, they went in opposite directions, distancing themselves from the beast general by at least a hundred meters.
Anon groaned as he truly took in how large the Red Ape was.
’It has such a large body and still moves so quickly?!’ Anon sighed before deeply inhaling.
Right after, he burst forth with speed, leaving behind a trail of blazing energies that lit up the cosmic sky.
"Cursed Ground!"
Unraveling from his form, a dark gold aura spread out into the surroundings. In an instant, over a hundred meters was encompassed by this aura, swallowing both the Red Ape and Anon.
Like a shooting star swallowed in a golden light, Anon crashed into the monumentally large construct that floated in the sky, the beast general’s body.
As he landed on the beast’s right arm, the dark gold aura oozed from his worldly flesh, spreading into his near surroundings.
From above, the light that cascaded through the sky was blocked as the beast’s left hand came crashing down with unstoppable might.
Boom!
The dark gold aura was akin to a golden fog that he left in his wake as he exploded with speed, scaling up the beast’s arm.
At the same time, the beast’s left hand altered directions, slamming into its right shoulder where it predicted Anon to arrive.
But, as if being manipulated by an invisible power, the beast’s left hand descended onto its right shoulder slightly slower than it expected.
Anon had just barely evaded its arm, reaching its shoulder before hopping into the air.
"Victory Manifested!"
"Inevitable Strike!"
In his grasp, an illusory staff releasing a blinding golden light materialized in his grasp. As he drew closer towards the beast’s face, he suddenly struck out.
Although the beast reacted to his movements, Anon’s staff grazed the beast’s face before the back of its left hand swatted Anon away.
Grazing its face, an unassuming piece of Anon’s staff phased through the Red Ape’s skin. But the back of the beast general’s hand sent him hurling away whilst coughing up blood.
Boom!
He crashed into the earth, skidding across the dirt, and barging into trees, destroying them upon coming into contact.
The beast roared loudly, causing the world around it to quake, and for the golden aura that encompassed over a hundred meters to crystalize and fragment, flickering away before disappearing completely.
It glared at Anon before lunging towards him with murderous intent.
But just then...
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Following a blood-colored light that covered the cosmic sky, was the sound of a flowing river!
Seth, from a distance, waved his right hand, seemingly manipulating the blood river that arced through the skies and raced towards the mighty Red Ape.
Although his skin was extraordinarily pale, and his aura was slightly more feeble than in the fight with the Fleshy Bear King, Seth’s prowess remained present.
The blood river cascaded from the skies at a pace much faster than the mighty Red Ape’s descent, as it attempted to approach and destroy Anon in one fell swoop.
Severing the distance separating it and the beast, the river, carrying an infinite might, crashed into the beast general’s back, increasing its speed of descent by tens of times.
Boom!
There was a booming explosion followed by an ear-deafening rumbling.
Anon’s body was picked up by a powerful gust of wind before he regained control of his body, but he held his breath whilst watching as the earth in the surrounding miles gave way, caving in.
Almost instantaneously, an abyss-like hole had gouged into the earth!
From the depths of this crater, the berserk roar of a wrathful Red Ape beast general resounded, echoing into the distance.
The sky trembled in terror, but the blood river poured into this gargantuan hole without relent.
’Oh?’ There were dark circles that had formed under Seth’s eyes.
His almost soulless eyes then lit up with genuine life for a short moment as he thought, ’Has it finally given up hope?’
He could already feel it, but it still took time to happen.
His blood river, moments after sending the Red Ape into the depths of the earth, crystalized in an instant, before exploding into crimson particles.
The Red Ape had exploded with its full strength, not bothering about its injuries.
Basically, it had given up hope of living after this battle.
