Chapter 106: Another principle?

The alteration of night and day was a wonder in the world of old. Anon’s father had forged a false alteration in this current day and age.

Opening his eyes, he suddenly thought of this.

Anon cracked his neck and chuckled lightly. His golden amber eyes shone brilliantly, and yet, therein, a subtle yet present dark light resided.

His legs were folded and he sat in a meditative posture, floating in the empty air.

He looked down towards Seth before pinching the air in front of him with his right index and thumb. Between these two fingers, a dark gold aura flickered.

Then, he drew a line across the air.

It was a golden line.

With a sizzling sound, the line released a puff of smoke before disappearing.

"Hmm?" Seth hummed with amusement.

After several seconds of silence, he asked, "What was that?"

"An ability." Anon replied. "Dear I say that I feel great?" Anon murmured these words and exhaled a breath of turbid air, in which dark red particles flickered.

"An undeveloped one?" Seth questioned.

Nodding his head, Anon leaned forward and flipped over. Then, his figure descended from the sky, landing on the earth with a hint of elegance.

As his feet landed on the ground, dripping from his worldly form was a dark gold aura that magnified his attractive pull.

His every movement was twinged with a subtle demonic allure.

"Initially, that fleshy bear king’s attack drained my spirit’s strength. I digressed from the second layer, and almost slipped away from the second world in its entirety." Anon said.

"I was really close to dying huh..." Speaking on death, he chuckled for a bit.

"However, that magic ritual. Only now do I understand why they’re revered so much." Anon went silent, continuing to speak internally.

’I’m so close to entering the third layer. All I’m missing is a single proper push from the threat of death so that I can shatter the barrier preventing me from entering the third layer.’ Anon mused to himself inwardly.

Seth stared at Anon with an unreadable expression. His face lacked any hints to his thoughts, and his eyes almost appeared dead.

’An undeveloped ability? Besides Inevitability, why do I sense another principle from it?’ Seth clicked his tongue in wonder.

At the same time, Anon yawned with drowsiness.

"The beast general’s corpse made the weaker beasts retreat upon sensing its aura, so now that it has disappeared, here mightn’t be a good place to rest." Seth said this after seeing him yawn.

"Rest?" Anon shook his head.

Then, he smiled, asking Seth, "The bracelet has notified us that we’ve reached the necessary depth into the Blood-Drip Jungle, right?"

"Long ago." Seth concisely replied.

Anon’s eyes lit up, intriguing him.

"Then, why don’t we use this extra time to our advantage?" Anon suggested as a grin tugged at his upper lip.

’My strength has skyrocketed, and Seth’s capable of slaying a beast general. Isn’t this the perfect opportunity?...’ He thought.

"What are you getting at?" Seth asked, puzzled by the eagerness in Anon’s eyes.

’Is he plotting against me or something?’ Seth wondered but soon shook his head as it didn’t really make any sense.

"You were able to slay a beast general by yourself. On the other hand, my strength has increased dramatically. Why don’t you put two and two together?" Anon’s grin became more visible as he said this.

Seth squinted his eyes for a moment, pondering on Anon’s words.

Then, his body began trembling before he chortled out loud.

"I think I know what you’re hinting at, but there are still some flaws in viewing beast generals as treasure holders ready to be victims." Seth said.

He continued, "What if the Fleshy Bear King had only recently become a beast general, and is on the weaker end of the spectrum amongst beast generals? What would we do against truly strong beast generals?" Seth’s words poured cold water on Anon’s thoughts.

And still, the latter didn’t seem phased whatsoever.

"Like the last battle, without holding back, utilizing all three principles, how confident are you in defeating a thousand and some one-winged monkeys?" Anon answered Seth’s question with one of his own.

Seth was slightly taken aback by his question but replied as a matter of fact, "Winning might be difficult to achieve, but I’ll achieve it. Still, I might be left in a sorry state."

"And the Red Ape? Do you think he won?" Anon asked right away.

"Huh?!" Seth blurted out, his expressions frozen out of shock. Thereafter, a light of understanding shone in his eyes.

He couldn’t help but find it funny.

"Hehehe... well done. Well done Anon." Seth’s body trembled as he murmured to himself, "How can I overlook something like this?"

"Ah, I’m really getting old." Seth shook his head in dismay.

The Red Ape.

Even though it had been hibernating, the beast general hadn’t suffered a detrimental injury.

Though it might have been exhausted, even then, both Anon and Seth believed in its strength, and also believed that it would’ve defeated the thousand and some one-winged monkeys.

Naturally, this also meant that by now, its home was a corpse filled battlefield where it slept in the center, severely injured.

It was the perfect opportunity to truly test out their united strength, and whether Anon’s suggestion was even possible.

After all, to steal treasures from treasure hoarders, they first needed the necessary strength.

It made no sense for them to even fathom the thought of entering the home of a perfectly fine beast general if they couldn’t defeat the severely injured Red Ape.

The Red Water was something that they had both benefited from.

Although Void Rain was beneficial only to magical items, divine weapons, and so on, the actual battle against the Red Ape was what was of utmost importance.

Right before Anon’s eyes, Seth’s figure faded away into particles!

The earth beneath Seth’s feet had already exploded into debris, leaving a deep hole where his false body now stood.

Anon sighed, marveling at such a realm of speed.

His sighing action was incredibly slow, almost sluggish.

Naturally, his figure had become a gathering of over a dozen afterimages caught in the act of sighing as he too exploded with speed.

He was only a hair’s breath away from the third layer where Seth was.

Although the latter had three principles, allowing his strength to reach a layer of complexity that allowed him to surpass worlds, he had the same spirit that was in the third layer as everyone else.

Though it might be slightly stronger since it was a spirit that operated three principles, Anon’s spirit operated a proto principle hence, Anon’s speed wasn’t too far off from touching upon the first barrier of speed.

Shattering the first barrier of speed, Seth entered a world where time had drastically slowed.

And still, Anon’s figure was barely affected in his eyes.

’That damnable proto principle.’ Seth’s face showed a disgusted expression.

’Fate, destiny, inevitability! I’ll be damned if I don’t destroy it all in the future.’ He growled inwardly whilst Anon’s figure left a hazy dark gold aura in his wake.

It was a golden trail that permeated the air and twisted the atmosphere.

Anon was at the peak of the second world, capable of completing twelve complex tasks simultaneously.

Capable of handling such pressure, his spirit was so powerful that it affected the real world.

In fact, spirits that affected the real world was extraordinarily common.

It is said that those in the fourth world could kill with a gaze.

That was just how powerful their spirits were...

As the duo made their way alongside the river, Anon left behind a trail of afterimages.

On the other hand, Seth was akin to a ghost that didn’t affect his surroundings no matter how fast he moved.

Only after Anon crossed a distance was their a reaction in the surroundings. Whether it was caused by him, or by Seth, was unknown.

Before long, the duo made their way into the forest, maneuvering through the densely packed forest trees with superhuman agility.

As his speed slowed down due to the trees, Seth also began to form afterimages.

This created a scenario where hundreds of figures similar in appearance to Seth and Anon formed two lines that intertwined seamlessly.

Rather than them racing through the jungle, they appeared to be dancing, painting a picturesque image.

Much faster than they ever moved, the duo quickly arrived at the location where they had fought the monkeys.

Though there were remains still present, it was only one or two pieces of a skeleton here and there.

For the most part, the one-winged monkeys were devoured by the Blood-Drip Jungle, becoming nutrients.

The duo had only paused momentarily.

What it resulted in were several dozen and possibly even more afterimages forming, clustered in a small vicinity, with each having a subtle difference from the other.

It was both strange and striking.

The duo continued on their path towards the open field.

They even crossed paths with more than one beast commanders, but unluckily for these beasts, neither of them were ordinary second world stellar fighters.

As previously mentioned, it was much more difficult to skip worlds in the lower worlds, and as a genius grows in strength and reaches higher worlds, it was possible to see a stellar fighter in a lower world defeat one in a higher world.

This became especially so when one had a spirit that drew power from three principles, and the other had a spirit capable of drawing power from a proto principle...
