Chapter 105: Baptized atop the corpse

Magic Rituals.

What were magic rituals?

And what would make you know what magic rituals were?

These magic rituals, also known as profound arts, varied greatly from ritual to ritual.

Some of these rituals involved mystical treasures and magical items, whilst others involved a gathering of humans who completed weird movements and chants.

At the same time, there were strange magic rituals that didn’t utilize movements and chants, nor mystical treasures and magical items.

Instead, these profound arts made use of much darker and deathly themes.

In the Constantin mansion, Seth had utilized such a dark magic ritual.

It was just before the two instructors of the special class in the military camp had arrived for him, Seth had found himself completely submerged in an expansive pool of blood.

What type of blood was it?

Well, that wasn’t really important.

"Seth!" Anon shouted.

Though his voice sounded frail, it was loud enough for Seth to hear it, even if he was a distance away.

"I found it." Anon said.

Soon after, Seth’s figure came from far away.

Though his footsteps weren’t as firm as before, there was a calm smile plastered on his face.

He glanced at Anon before staring at the fleshy bear king’s corpse, the beast general that he had worked hard to slay.

Glancing back at Anon, and the severe wounds on Anon’s body, the smile on his face widened further.

"So you’re going to do it, right?" Seth asked.

His voice contained hints of playfulness.

"Do I have a choice?" Anon pointed at his torso and sighed weakly. He said, "Whether this is your schemes, or a genuine magic ritual, do I have a choice but to trust you?"

"Heh..." Seth chuckled.

Covering his mouth, he remained silent for a while before taking in a deep breath and relieving Anon’s doubts, "I can assure you that this is a genuine magic ritual."

Seth nodded as he said this, stating it as if it was a matter of fact. He approached the massive corpse and traced his fingers against it.

"You know, there isn’t anyone in this world who’ll get this kind of opportunity. There hasn’t been anyone, absolutely no one was helped by me like this before." Seth whispered.

Although he said these words, Anon was still more focused on his previous words.

Anon’s thoughts churned in his mind, ’He said that it’s a genuine magic ritual, but didn’t dissuade the idea that it was part of a scheme. He’s choosing what he wishes to say and leaving out other things, but what choice do I have?’

’I’d already be dead if I hadn’t entered the second world, but how long can my body last?’

There was a high quantity of thoughts swirling in his mind, ’Dead mother said that the devil will be like this. And although he’s capable of great schemes, he’s also incredibly arrogant and he rather be overbearing. A walking contradiction that may not directly lie, but instead speak half truths. Most importantly, he’s my greatest adversary, but also the best of my allies.’

Anon glanced at Seth.

The latter’s smiling face hadn’t disappeared.

At this point, rather than endearing, it gave off an odd and forceful feeling.

Anon looked down at his torso and said dryly, "You’d have to help me."

To which, Seth giggled heartily.

He approached Anon before gently placing his hands around Anon’s waist, lifting him up before hopping into the air.

When they landed, Anon broke free from Seth’s embrace. It wasn’t that he overpowered Seth, but the latter was simply being playful.

Currently, although Seth was weakened, Anon was still much, much weaker. His exposed torso was the single greatest reason.

The corpse of the fleshy bear king was akin to a small mountain. Anon stumbled his way to the center of the beast general’s abdomen before taking a seat.

Assuming a meditative posture, Anon pressed the palms of his hands against his knees and looked up towards Seth.

"So what am I to do now?" He asked.

"Endure." Seth replied, smilingly, "I’ll handle everything. All you need to do is endure."

"Endure?" Anon repeated that word and showed a weak smile.

To endure.

Enduring pain was something that he had been forced to do for the entirety of his upbringing.

And this kind of pain wasn’t something that the average soul even experienced in a lifetime.

Any other type of enduring was a mental battle.

Loneliness, suffering, isolation, longing.

Anon did not believe in these concepts.

To regret.

’From the moment of dead mother’s death, I promised to walk dead mother’s established path. And trotting on said path is exactly what I’ve done. Even if I’m to die now, I’ll die without any regrets.’

Speaking of death...

To fear mortality.

’Although dying is something to be feared, how can I die? I do not believe that I will die, so my spirit will not die. Dying might be something to be feared, but I do not believe in my death.’

’In the face of death, I’ll desperately shirk away in fear. But so what, in the end, I will not die!’

Hopping off the corpse, Seth looked back at Anon and nodded his head, chuckling for a reason Anon wasn’t aware of.

Then, he walked alongside the beast general’s body, tracing one of his index finger against the fleshy bear king’s skin.

The nail of his finger lengthened and sharpened, causing the corpse’s skin to split and for blood to ooze out of the creature’s body.

Droplets of the beast general’s blood floated in the air before arcing upwards, rushing towards the cosmic sky.

Drifting through the winds, these droplets of blood then descended back to the fleshy bear king’s corpse, or more accurately, onto Anon who sat atop the corpse.

Landing on his skin, the greeting between Anon’s swarthy skin and the beast general’s blood caused a sizzling noise to enter the vicinity.

Right after, a hot steam rose from Anon’s skin as strange runic characters etched from the beast’s blood began drawing themselves across Anon’s body.

The maggots and other living organisms squirming through Anon’s rotted flesh and bones began twitching uncontrollably, falling from his wound one by one.

On the other hand, Anon clenched his jaw, reacting to the pain that assaulted him.

Pain was like this.

No matter how much pain one had previously experienced, the present pain always felt even worse.

"Tch!" Anon groaned.

Seth laughed, "Come on now, we’ve only just begun."

After his words fell, the blood that oozed from the beast general’s corpse suddenly began spilling out in absurd amounts.

Instead of rising toward the cosmic sky, the blood spilled onto the ground. Then, as if it was sentient, the blood moved across the earth with visible intent.

Blood-colored characters took shape on the dirt. These characters encompassed the beast general’s corpse, and naturally were present across the ground that was beneath the corpse too.

They were similar in appearance to the characters running across Anon’s body, and as they made an appearance on the earth, the grunts that escaped Anon’s lips became painfully louder.

Anon gripped onto his knees even more tightly as the blood-colored characters running across his skin released a low hum, glowing brightly.

Following their subtle change, the characters on the earth also began changing. However, altering at an even faster rate, was the earth that these characters were etched on.

The nearby winds churned as the leaves on the many branches of trees packing out the surroundings began rustling.

Anon, or more so, the corpse that he sat on slowly lifted into the air.

As it began floating, the earth that it previously rested on, changed.

These characters running across the earth spanned out in all directions up to twenty or so meters, and so, this twenty-meter large circle transformed from grass and dirt, to a transparent glass-like creation.

This part of the ground had become transparent. Whether it was glass that connected the other side or not, what resided on said side almost appeared to be another world.

This world...

What was revealed was a dark purple sky, flashing lightning, and crackling thunder. And as the lightning flashed, the entire world would light up.

Crackle!

Lightning struck, purging the world of darkness.

In the depths of this world, there was another form of light, but the darkness returned before the origin of this light could be identified.

However, a crackling sound followed by a lightning strike brought light to this dark world once more.

Previously shrouded behind an invisible veil, the second light hidden in this world was revealed.

The characters written on the glass trembled as Anon’s face contorted in pain.

Underneath his skin, his muscles twitched and squirmed as his rotted flesh fractured and crumbled, his wounds healing at a rate visible to the naked eye.

Seth’s blood-red eyes shone with brilliance.

In the depths of this dark world, an extraordinarily large object shone with a similar radiance.

It was blood-red in color, but of a shade that was even darker than Seth’s eyes.

And at the same time, it was shaped similar to an eye, but was clearly a structure the size of the moon, a celestial body.

It was only designed like an eye...

As it shone, a wisp of demonic energy flew out of it, rocketing across the world and latching onto the glass that connected this world to the real world.

"Ah-! Arghhh-!" Anon groaned, scraping his skin and forcefully ripping his flesh.

However, his fleshy body was in the process of healing at rapid pace.

The glass connecting both worlds formed cracks.

And as these spiderwebbed cracks multiplied, the demonic aura filtered through, entering the real world and rushing towards Anon, seeping into his skin.

At the same time, the fleshy bear king’s floating corpses underwent a transformation of itself.

As the demonic aura made an appearance in the real world, it brought changes to the beast general’s corpse.

Its skin was separated from its flesh, and its flesh separated from its blood.

Its blood was separated from its bones.

Skin, flesh, blood, bone!

These four bodily parts were swallowed by the demonic aura that then seeped into Anon’s body.

Boom!

Anon widened his eyes.

In the depths of his golden amber eyes, very subtle yet present, a blood-red light shone.

The divine glow his eyes once held had dampened slightly!
