Chapter 67 - Tetsuya's Final Gambit

Years of infiltrating as a spy finally paid off for Shin, as his information gathering bore sweet fruit. All this time, he approached Ryoji and served Haruto wholeheartedly without betraying Tetsuya.

Shin's loyalty and faithfulness were beyond doubt, and they could even be tested, as he held a strong principle: it was better to die than to become a traitor. Besides Shin infiltrating the Ishikawa residence as Haruto's right-hand man, Tetsuya had also sent his subordinates to monitor the situation and find their weaknesses. Unbeknownst to many, Hiroshi was no longer a weak and useless person. Hiroshi had business connections with the upper echelons, many of whom were corrupt officials.

Today, Tetsuya did not return to his residence but instead went to Tsuchihebi's laboratory. According to Tetsuya, it was the perfect place for him to rest and plan an attack without seeking advice from anyone, including Renji, the leader of the Hayabusa group. When they arrived at the laboratory, Mizuki had to carry Tetsuya, who was almost unconscious due to a flare-up of his chronic illness. Fortunately, Tsuchihebi still had painkillers he had concocted. Although they couldn't cure Tetsuya, they at least allowed him to endure and alleviate the excruciating pain in his heart.

Tetsuya's face was naturally pale, but now it was even paler, like that of a dead person, making Mizuki, who had accompanied him, worried and afraid that something might happen to Tetsuya.

Only a handful of people knew the location of Tsuchihebi's laboratory, one of whom was Tetsuya, the main funder of the snake-obsessed professor's research. Although the laboratory looked creepy and strange from the outside, especially with Tsuchihebi's crazy demeanor of researching human body parts, one might think that his research involved terrifying experiments. However, that was not the case. Tsuchihebi and Tetsuya were researching various plants and animals to find a cure for cancer patients.

If the cure were successfully developed, Tsuchihebi would mass-produce it to help people worldwide without seeking any profit, as his initial intention was purely to help others. Fortunately, Tetsuya was the only person willing to assist and believe in him.

As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. Sometimes, something that looks good on the outside may not be as good on the inside, and vice versa. In this case, Tetsuya was right in judging Tsuchihebi as a good person with extraordinary abilities.

"I heard from my wife that Renji has gotten married and is about to have a child?" asked a pale-faced man with long black hair reaching his waist, dressed in white like a doctor.

"That's correct," Tetsuya confirmed.

The man who owned the laboratory smiled faintly and shook his head. He handed Tetsuya a glass of warm water, saying, "This will warm you up a bit."

"Thank you," Tetsuya replied.

Sitting in front of Tetsuya, the husband of Tetsuya's doctor looked at him meaningfully. It threw a teasing smile, "That boy Renji is already married and has a partner. What about you? You seem content being single."

"Does someone like me deserve a life partner?" Tetsuya asked back with a somber expression.

"Of course. Just look at me," Tsuchihebi replied, using himself as an example for Tetsuya. If someone like him could get married, why couldn't Tetsuya?

"Why should I look at you?" Tetsuya rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Even I managed to marry a beautiful woman and have a very handsome son," he said with great pride, boasting about his attractive and sexy wife.

"That's because Aya is blind and can't see men clearly," Tetsuya retorted sarcastically.

Tsuchihebi chuckled, finding it amusing and not feeling angry at all. "At least we got married and are living together," he defended himself, not wanting to lose the argument.

"Poor Aya, such a beautiful woman ended up marrying you," Tetsuya muttered sadly, thinking about Aya's misfortune in choosing the wrong husband.

"Just say you're jealous because no beautiful woman wants you," Tsuchihebi teased back, as he had never seen Tetsuya close to any woman. Instead, Tetsuya was always rumored to be close to handsome and beautiful men.

Tetsuya sighed sadly, "Even if there were someone, we could never be together. I would only make her sad because of my illness."

"Don't worry, I will find a heart donor for you," Tsuchihebi patted Tetsuya's shoulder, encouraging him.

"You're not planning to replace my heart with a chimpanzee's, right?" Tetsuya accused.

"If you want, I can do that," Tsuchihebi agreed as if confirming Tetsuya's accusation.

"You crazy professor!" Tetsuya shouted in frustration.

"That's my title," Tsuchihebi insisted proudly.

In the middle of their conversation, the door to the reading room was knocked several times. Mizuki's voice was heard from outside, informing them that someone had come to see Tetsuya.

Tetsuya stared at the papers in his hand. The report he had been waiting for had finally reached him. After a long and exhausting struggle, Tetsuya had found the truth he was seeking, and his suspicions were proven correct about who was behind the series of dark tragedies in the Ishikawa family.

Tetsuya clenched his hand tightly, venting his frustration. "I regret not gouging out his eyes back then," Tetsuya growled, recalling an incident at a luxurious hotel during a meeting of black-world groups.

At that time, Tetsuya had met and attacked Hiroshi Okada. The report provided by one of his subordinates infuriated Tetsuya, confirming his suspicion that Hiroshi Okada, the adoptive father of his late mother, was the mastermind behind everything.

"Now that you know everything, what will be your next move?" asked the black-haired man, awaiting Tetsuya's next command.

Tetsuya's gaze was filled with a murderous aura. "Of course, I will eliminate that old man and his group down to the roots," Tetsuya answered furiously.

"I expected as much," the man murmured as if sharing Tetsuya's thoughts. "You must know their weaknesses after infiltrating Hiroshi's group for several years and even becoming his guard."

"I do know, but even though Hiroshi's group is not large, their defense system should not be underestimated. They have a multi-layered defense system that is quite difficult to penetrate but not impossible. But the chances are distant," he stated, describing the adversary's power.

"Did you forget who I am?"

"It's not that I underrate your abilities, but—"

"Killing a small group isn't an issue for me. Other than that, I destroyed an entire village once," Tetsuya interjected, gloating.

After all, since childhood, Tetsuya had also received training from Kaito, although not as intense or harsh as Renji's. Still, he possessed above-average combat skills.

"I know about that incident, but at that time, you were still healthy and not—"

"Don't worry about my illness; it's not an obstacle for me," Tetsuya repeated.

"Dying on the battlefield is more honorable for me than dying weakly in a hospital bed, unable to do anything but wait for death to come," he continued with a somber expression.

Even though he was struggling against his illness, Tetsuya refused to give up, let alone show any weakness to anyone, especially his enemies. He preferred to die fighting, as the ancestors of the Ishikawa family were once the greatest ninja clan. Tetsuya wanted to die as a warrior, not as a hospital patient.

Tetsuya stood up from his seat and approached the man standing before him.

"Return to Hiroshi's residence. Do your job well as his guard and wait for my next plan," he ordered.

"Yes, Master Tetsuya," the man replied obediently, then left the reading room after bowing respectfully.

After the man left, Tetsuya stood by the window, gazing at the scenery outside. As far as the eye could see, lush trees surrounded the laboratory. Tetsuya was deep in the forest near the hills, far from the city. The peaceful and serene atmosphere here calmed Tetsuya's emotions slightly, even though anger and hatred still filled his heart.

"I will kill you, Hiroshi Okada," he muttered coldly.

Fortunately, after years of investigation, Tetsuya finally uncovered the truth. He even resorts to dirty tactics to force Torune, one of Hiroshi's guards, to work for him. He threatened Torune using his younger brother, Yuki, whom Tetsuya claimed to have imprisoned. Tetsuya promised to release Yuki once Torune completed his task.

However, the truth was that Tetsuya had not imprisoned Yuki or harmed him. Instead, he had asked Tsuchihebi to take Yuki as a student and let him work in the laboratory, given Yuki's extraordinary talent with animals, especially insects, which was highly useful for their research.

Although labeled cruel and devilish, Tetsuya never killed anyone without reason, especially if they could still be useful. He preferred to keep such people alive to exploit their skills, unlike Renji or Kaito, who would cut down anyone without considering their potential. Tetsuya might be physically weak due to his congenital heart condition. Still, when strategizing and using his intellect, he was a master.

"Cough~" Tetsuya coughed softly, and fresh blood came out.

He roughly wiped his lips with the back of his hand. "Damn it," he muttered.

Tetsuya would have already stormed Hiroshi's headquarters if it weren't for his illness. But he couldn't do that, as his fighting time was limited, unlike Renji, who had incredible stamina.

Tetsuya never imagined that the old, decrepit man could manipulate the Ishikawa family to the point of destruction from within, all without raising any suspicion as the mastermind.

Tetsuya's hatred grew stronger, and the urge to kill Hiroshi burned intensely within him. The consequences of Hiroshi's actions caused suffering for everyone around Tetsuya. Even Renji harbored deep resentment and hatred toward Kaito, down to his very bones. Enjoying a cold drink was a good idea to cool down the heat within his body. Still, before his anger could subside, Mizuki arrived, bringing a report from the Ishikawa residence sent by Shin through a secret message.

Tetsuya's head throbbed with pain upon learning of his grandfather and uncle's plan to kidnap Aira and her baby to control Renji like a puppet, just as they had done in the past. Merely attacking Aira had already provoked Renji's wrath, making him want to annihilate the entire Ishikawa family. If they went as far as kidnapping and holding his child hostage, it was not impossible that the Ishikawa family would be reduced to mere history, wiped out entirely by Renji.

"Mizuki!" he called out, filled with rage.

"Yo!" the young man responded casually.

"Gather all of your best men," Tetsuya shouted, giving his orders.

Mizuki paused for a moment, surprised by Tetsuya's command. A certain person came to his mind. "Are you planning to call him too?" Mizuki asked, referring to the man who had been exiled to the mountains as punishment by Renji several years ago.

"Yes, tell him to come down from the mountain. Enough with the seclusion—tell him I ordered it," Tetsuya replied, effectively ending the punishment that had been imposed.

Mizuki's expression turned slightly anxious. "What if Young Master Renji finds out you've freed him from punishment?"

"I'll deal with that later. Right now, I need his help," Tetsuya said calmly, unconcerned about the issue with Renji, deciding to handle it when the time came.

"Understood," Mizuki obeyed before leaving the study.

As instructed, Mizuki began contacting his subordinates one by one to prepare for a high-stakes mission, as the very fact that Tetsuya had ordered that man to leave the mountains meant something serious was happening.

Tetsuya had originally planned to wait a few days before making a move, but it seemed there was no more time. Kaito wasn't even giving him a moment to breathe.

"That old man!!" Tetsuya growled in frustration.

.

Since the previous night, Tetsuya had not shown himself to Aira or Renji at the hospital. Even when contacted by phone, he was unreachable. Was he too busy at the office, or was something urgent at the art gallery that prevented him from visiting Aira and meeting his newly born, handsome nephew?

When asked about his pale-skinned employer, Yamato, Tetsuya's personal assistant, had no answer. Tetsuya had left without saying a word.

When questioned, he stated that he was firing Yamato as his assistant. He instructed him to run the company as the temporary leader until Renji graduated. Of course, this raised great suspicion in Renji's heart. His cousin was planning something big in secret. What annoyed him the most was that he had been left out. They were not just family—they were teammates. So why was Tetsuya treating him like an outsider?

Renji ordered Yamato to return to Tetsuya's residence, convinced that his cousin would eventually go home to retrieve something. Yamato followed Renji's suggestion.

In the Ishikawa family, Tetsuya was not only skilled in war strategy. Renji was just as intelligent—perhaps even more perceptive than Tetsuya when it came to observing his surroundings, thanks to his skills as a spy. He had an uncanny ability to read situations.

Renji instructed Fujita to find out exactly what Tetsuya was planning and report back immediately. Even though his primary focus was on Aira and their baby, he couldn't just stand by and let Tetsuya handle everything alone. Tetsuya was his family—someone precious and important.
