Chapter 62: Chapter 61: Go On, Show Me

As soon as the woman’s aura flared, Jiang Zuo drew Cold Moon. But before she could even attack, the three nearby patrol teams all came to a halt.

They all turned to look at the woman at the exact same time, in perfect unison.

If the woman made any move, they would attack the very next instant.

Moreover, powerful auras began to erupt from their bodies.

Ranging from Tier One to Tier Two, this was the outermost patrol team.

’If the patrol teams get progressively stronger the deeper in you go, then the three teams further inside must be terrifying.’

Jiang Zuo sheathed his blade. He realized that you couldn’t fight here. The patrol teams must use this—the flaring of an aura—to identify targets for attack.

The woman was startled as well and instantly retracted her aura.

Only then did the patrol teams return to normal.

Jiang Zuo looked at the woman. "Still want to rob me?"

The woman breathed a silent sigh of relief, then looked at Jiang Zuo. "Let’s make a deal. Ever heard the saying ’better to be shattered jade than an intact roof tile’? Give me one Fifth-Grade Spirit Stone. Of course, you don’t have to give it to me now. Just pay me after you collect the reward."

Jiang Zuo asked coolly, "You know the way out?"

"Don’t you?" the woman replied with a smile.

Jiang Zuo’s expression grew cold. "You think it’s easy to make money off me?"

The woman ignored his cold glare. "I don’t know about easy, but I know it’d be very easy to make sure *you* don’t earn a thing."

Jiang Zuo looked at her, then finally said, "Alright."

"Good. In that case, I’ll help you protect these two. After all, if we don’t succeed, you won’t be giving me any Spirit Stones. By the way, you can call me Xi Yu. It’s my Daoist title."

Jiang Zuo didn’t even bother to glance at the woman. He couldn’t care less what her Daoist title was.

’She was right about one thing, though. With her Tier Two strength, it would be very easy for her to kill the two people behind me.’

’But this woman... she’s got some nerve. Heh.’ 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"I can’t get through. Still can’t get through!" Su Qi said, looking sadly at her phone. "Senior Sister, what do you think Jiang Zuo is up to? Did he have to sleep with someone for a business deal?"

Jingyue was dumbfounded. "..., is that really what you think of your husband? Wouldn’t you be heartbroken if that were true? Besides, it’s unlikely. It’s more likely he got into a car crash and his phone just happened to get crushed."

"Senior Sister, I’m not very happy with you right now."

"Alright, alright. But what are you letting your imagination run wild for? Didn’t he already text you an explanation?"

"But the explanation was *too* timely! Don’t you know that explanations are just cover-ups? And why would Jiang Zuo suddenly go off to raise a pet, and a duck of all things? It’s not logical."

Jingyue looked at Su Qi. "You’re not even considering that he might have really gotten into an accident?"

Su Qi answered without a moment’s hesitation. "Nope."

Jingyue shrugged. "Women are so strange, especially women in love. Let’s go, we’ll head back, how’s that? We can take care of the Blood Demon matter along the way."

"Can the Blood Demon thing wait a couple of days?"

"I’ll give you one day. They said they’re targeting the Holy Land, not just our group. We can’t delay this. I still have to call for reinforcements. Once this is resolved, you’ll probably have some free time."

Then, Jingyue added, "Are you sure you’re going to tell him you’re a Cultivator?"

Su Qi hesitated for a moment. "I’ll see."

"If you can put it off, then put it off a while longer. I heard Master is trying to arrange something for you. If she succeeds, you might get a few decades of leave. Honestly, if you weren’t a Candidacy Saintess, none of this would be an issue."

Su Qi said excitedly, "Really? Then can I tell Jiang Zuo, and then tell him the good news after? That way we can be together forever, right?"

Jingyue: "..., you idiot."

Su Qi: "..."

Jiang Zuo led the group onward, walking outside the palace. After a long time, they finally spotted traces of Blood Demons.

Xi Yu asked, "Humans?"

They were currently hiding, as there were quite a few of them.

If a fight were to break out, even Xi Yu would be courting death, because many of the enemies were Tier Two.

Liu Qianqian asked, "Can’t we call for help?"

Jiang Zuo said coolly, "Blood Demons. They control the exit. A large number of Blood Demons are gathered there."

Liu Qianqian and the others were all shocked.

"Blood Demons? How could that be? Did we wander into the Blood Demon Base Camp?"

Jiang Zuo stepped out. "Who knows. You all wait here. I’m going to go grab one."

’Grab one?’

Even Xi Yu was stunned. She immediately said, "Are you crazy? If those are really Blood Demons, aren’t you just walking right into a trap?"

Jiang Zuo ignored her and was about to continue forward, but he had only taken two steps when he heard a sound from behind.

’The patrol team has already passed, so this should be a Blood Demon.’

The corners of Jiang Zuo’s lips curled up. ’Looks like this won’t be too much trouble. One just delivered itself to my door.’

Jiang Zuo drew his sword, waiting for the Blood Demon to round the corner and come into view.

TAP, TAP.

"Sigh, what’s up with me lately? I always feel like I need to take a leak."

The instant the voice was heard, the Blood Demon appeared. Before it could even react, a sword pierced straight through it.

He immediately went limp. ’What a familiar feeling...’

He then turned his head toward the sword, and the sight left him stunned.

Jiang Zuo was also surprised to see this Blood Demon. "How is it you again?"

He said, pulling out the sword.

As soon as the sword was pulled out, the Blood Demon immediately knelt before Jiang Zuo. "M-Master. What are you doing here?"

"Master?" Xi Yu and the others stared at Jiang Zuo in shock.

’The master of a Blood Demon? What did that mean?’

Liu Qianqian said, "Could Po Xiao be a Blood Demon too?"

"Hm?" Jiang Zuo shot a cold glare at Liu Qianqian.

The look was so cold it sent a shiver down Liu Qianqian’s spine.

"Don’t lump me in with these idiotic creatures, or I’ll throw you out to them as food."

Liu Qianqian immediately covered her mouth with her hand. The other girl also reached out and covered Liu Qianqian’s mouth, terrified she might say something else she shouldn’t.

Jiang Zuo then looked at Blood Soil. "Do you know the way out? Take me there."

"But Master, that way is full of Blood Demons. Are we going to fight our way out?" Blood Soil asked, troubled.

’This is it. My life is over.’

Jiang Zuo looked at Blood Soil and said coolly, "What makes you think I’m not a Blood Demon?"

Blood Soil paused, then said, "But Blood Demons have a unique blood-aura."

"Don’t you have one? Just lead the way. Unless you want to die right now," Jiang Zuo said coldly.

Blood Soil shivered. ’Is it too late to turn on him?’ he wondered.

Just then, Xi Yu spoke up. "I refuse to take such a risk. There must be another way. Going to a place where Blood Demons are gathered? Isn’t that just suicide?"

Jiang Zuo turned and walked off. "I’m not forcing you. Feel free to find your own way out."

"Aren’t you afraid of failing your mission?" Xi Yu said icily. "I said, I refuse to do something so risky. No one is going."

A faint smile played on Jiang Zuo’s lips. "You said so? Then what do you plan on doing about it? Go on, show me."
