My Tribrid System: More than a Monster-Chapter 130: What did he dream about?
Chapter 128
The homeroom session had concluded, and the Aspirants were now required to disperse toward their various specialized aspect classes.
Consequently, the boys parted ways for the afternoon.
Before they had exited the lecture hall, Sony had shared a few more details regarding the global factions.
It turned out that these factions functioned much like the guilds Ray had read about in various mangas—organized groups that completed specialized tasks to spread their reputation across the globe.
Some of these organizations possessed power and influence that rivaled even the Big Four.
One such group was the prominent technology faction.
While they were not subordinates of the Blue family, they played a vital role in society.
Whereas the Blue family focused on monumental, world-altering inventions designed to combat the Aberrant threat, this particular faction concentrated on the ground level.
They specialized in building amenities and infrastructure that made daily life significantly easier for the general populace.
Naturally, their fame and reputation had spread rapidly.
While they weren’t as massive as the Blue family, they were a solid, respected power.
Sony had informed them that the leader of this very faction would be personally visiting the Aspirant Corps the following week on a specific piece of business.
Ray, however, couldn’t have cared less.
Even if the heads of the Big Four themselves descended upon the school, he wouldn’t have so much as batted an eyelid.
His singular focus remained unchanged: grow stronger, eradicate the Aberrants, and protect Van—along with anyone else who happened to make it onto his short list of people worth defending.
Walking into the combat hall, Ray took his usual, solitary position in the far corner of the room.
The moment Felix entered the hall, he didn’t need to search the crowd; he strode directly over to where Ray was leaning against the wall.
"Seriously, dude, you need to find a girl and stop clinging to me. It’s getting annoying," Ray sneered at the approaching werewolf.
"Are you offering to help me get one?" Felix asked, a cheeky, irreverent smile plastered across his face.
"Tch! Forget it. No one is going to fall for a loser and a pervert like you," Ray scoffed, turning his head away in mock disgust.
"Ohoy, brother! Don’t be like that. Do you have any idea that back where I come from, I’m quite the hotshot?" Felix replied with a playful wink.
"Yeah, sure. As if anyone would care about an annoying werewolf," Ray added under his breath with a small, private chuckle.
That was when he recalled his earlier resolve.
"By the way, I think we need to have a serious talk about our... uhm... you get the point. I want to learn more about our kind."
"Uh, sure. Why not?" Felix replied with a casual shrug and a grin.
’After being around him for a few days now, I think my suspicions are dead on,’ the werewolf mused inwardly, casting Ray a discerning side-glance.
’He is almost certainly a werewolf born in the human world. That explains why he doesn’t know a thing about our traditions or our history.
And he smells predominantly human, mixed with something else—something powerful that I can’t quite put my finger on yet. Perhaps one of his parents was human? Who knows? But to successfully birth a hybrid is shocking enough.’
The students were rapidly filing into the hall when a new face appeared at the entrance.
Tilting his head to face the doorway, Ray’s lips curled upward into a slight smirk as he recognized the girl.
’Oh. She actually took my offer and showed up. Absolutely cinematic.’
With her arrival, the class was officially underway.
Captain Jake began his lecture, detailing the vast array of weapons available, the various fighting styles associated with them, and their tactical usage.
Although he wasn’t personally proficient in every single weapon type, he gave the Aspirants a specific task: they were all to approach the equipment wall and select a weapon they wished to focus their training on.
It took several minutes for the crowd of students to make their final picks.
Ray and Trisha, of course, didn’t bother moving, as they already possessed their own specialized armaments.
Even Felix remained stationary for some reason.
Ray figured that perhaps werewolves simply didn’t see the need for external weapons.
Soon enough, everyone was equipped with their chosen gear, and Captain Jake resumed the lesson, his voice booming through the hall as he guided them through the fundamentals.
Ray watched from the sidelines as Chloe and Trisha interacted awkwardly with one another.
They had been paired up for a light spar, a requirement for the class to finally get a practical feel for the weapons they had chosen.
The tension between them was palpable, yet they managed to exchange a few experimental strikes before the session wound down.
A few hours passed in a blur of clashing wood and metal until the class finally came to a formal end.
With a sharp whistle from Captain Jake, the Aspirants were officially dispersed for the evening.
"So, brother, where should we head to next?" Felix whispered, leaning in close as the crowd began to filter out of the hall.
"Not now. I don’t want to risk anybody eavesdropping on our conversation... again. Just meet me on the roof of the Corps’ building by 8:30 pm sharp," Ray replied in an urgent whisper, his eyes scanning the room for listeners.
Before Felix could even offer a response, Ray had already vanished from view, hurrying toward the dormitories.
"Aight," Felix shrugged indifferently, tossing his practice weapon aside as he exited the hall at a much more leisurely pace.

Ray made it back to his room just in time, collapsing onto his bed in a state of absolute exhaustion.
The mental and physical toll of the day finally caught up with him, and before he could even kick off his boots, darkness claimed his consciousness.
He fell into a deep, heavy sleep.
Minutes ticked by in the quiet room.
Suddenly, Ray broke out in a frantic cold sweat.
He began mumbling incoherent words, his fingers clenching the bedsheets unconsciously as he tossed and turned in the throes of a nightmare.
"Mhm... hmm... no... don’t... Van... ahh..."
The door clicked open and Van walked in hurriedly.
He seemed to be in a frantic haste, barely acknowledging the sleeping Ray as he bolted toward his locker, rummaging through his bag with desperate speed.
"Come on, where is it?" he muttered to himself, tossing spare parts and tools aside.
"Ah... there it is."
He quickly pulled a small component out of his bag and prepared to leave just as quickly as he had arrived, but his eyes caught sight of Ray on the bed.
His friend was... writhing?
Cold sweat drenched his uniform, and his breathing was jagged.
"Wh—?" Van mumbled, his own errands forgotten as he bolted toward the bedside.
"Ray... Ray! Wake up, Ray! Ray! RAY!" Van shouted in immediate panic, grabbing Ray’s shoulders.
With one final, violent shake, Ray jolted awake, sitting bolt upright like a snapped piece of bamboo.
"VAN!" he screamed, his voice cracking with the force of his awakening.
"I’m right here, Ray. Wha-what happened to you?" Van asked worriedly, staring at his friend who was now panting heavily, his chest heaving as if he had just run a marathon.
"I—I—I thought I had lost you," Ray croaked out, his hand clutching his erratically beating heart.
"Lost me? What on Alcatraz kind of dream did you have?" Van asked, his brow lifted in a mixture of confusion and concern.
Ray lifted his head to stare at his friend, his eyes becoming moist in an instant.
Without warning, he dashed forward, pulling Van into a fierce, bone-crushing hug.
"I—Van, I promise you... I will make sure I protect you with everything I have. Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, will ever harm a single hair on your head. I swear it!" Ray promised, his voice low and vibrating with a primal intensity as his eyes flashed a dangerous crimson for a fleeting moment.
[DING!]
[The System has taken note of a sincere promise made by the host to his dear one. The System is moved by this display of loyalty; hence, it has decided to grant a reward that will aid in your vow...]
Van could feel Ray’s entire body shaking in his grip, leaving him completely stunned.
He awkwardly patted Ray’s back, his mind racing.
’What the hell did he dream about to make him act like this?’
