Chapter 285: Chapter 285: What Are You Really Hiding from Me?

"Suddenly," the temperature in the room froze into ice, and a flood of danger instantly filled the space.

Leon Rivers glanced up, meeting Jared Quinn’s eyes that were sharp as knives, and his heart skipped a beat. This man could forsake even his closest brother for his woman.

He was doomed.

"Missy, you can carelessly eat, but you absolutely cannot speak carelessly," Leon Rivers wailed, "I swear to the heavens, I absolutely haven’t seen it. If I had seen it, may I be struck by lightning five times."

His wailing did nothing, and instead, Melody Thorne’s brow furrowed tighter and tighter until she finally announced an exact date, "October 12."

Leon Rivers said, "Impossible, I absolutely haven’t seen it."

Melody Thorne wasn’t lying. It was on that day after Ivy made her unconscious and sent her to Leon Rivers, though she was mistaken by one day.

"Which year?" Jared Quinn asked, his entire being radiating an intimidating aura.

"I forgot," Melody Thorne couldn’t possibly reveal the date lest Jared Quinn discovers something.

"Clearly, this is framing. I wouldn’t rest in peace if I were to die," Leon lamented, "How could you speak carelessly on such matters? Though I’m no saint, I wouldn’t dare to look at a brother’s woman even with ten guts."

There are busty and curvy women everywhere; why would he specifically look at her?

"Can’t you make hypnotized people recall the exact scene from that day?" Leon Rivers spoke up, "Quick, she must have mistaken someone else. Make her describe the specifics."

"Alright," the hypnotist walked over, softly calling Melody Thorne’s name, trying to get her to recount the scene from that day.

But no matter how he opened his mouth, Melody Thorne remained unresponsive.

"Does your hypnotism even work?" Leon Rivers questioned skeptically.

The hypnotist was baffled, encountering this issue after many years, similar to when he first learned hypnosis—a situation like this seemed as though the hypnosis was unsuccessful.

Cold sweat broke out on the hypnotist’s forehead, but he wouldn’t admit it under threat to his life.

Especially in front of these three men.

"Um... Maybe the young lady had too much to drink and just passed out?" the hypnotist timidly suggested.

"Damn, then how can I prove my innocence?" Leon Rivers cursed under his breath. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"Harold Chapman," Jared Quinn coldly ordered, "Take him for a thorough investigation."

"You want me to go with him?" Leon Rivers’ face darkened, "Jared, you can’t only believe the woman’s words and distrust your brother."

"Just go," Harold Chapman promptly pulled him away.

At this moment, Jared Quinn had eyes only for the woman, and he wouldn’t listen to anything else.

The room fell silent, Jared Quinn stood beside the large bed, having arranged for the hypnotist yet extracting nothing.

Melody Thorne felt guilty, wondering whether she had escalated things too far?

Might she have stirred discord between Jared Quinn and Leon Rivers?

"What exactly are you hiding from me?" Jared Quinn’s large hand caressed her face, gently sliding.

"Brother," Titus Quinn’s voice came from outside.

Jared Quinn released Melody Thorne and was about to leave, but suddenly, small hands clasped his arm, and a small face pressed onto the back of his hand, as if unwilling for him to leave.

This action eased the pain from Jared Quinn’s freshly torn wound.

"I’ll be right back," Jared Quinn carefully withdrew his hand, placing her head onto the pillow.
