My SSS-Rank Clone Talent: I Level Up Endlessly!-Chapter 228: You Are No King! You Are No Man!
Chapter 228: You Are No King! You Are No Man!
Grey only sneered inwardly but didn’t act.
This king’s messenger was only trying to flaunt his power by abusing the poor woman.
Abusing power wasn’t a great thing.
And this mature woman could only silently endure it all but still stood firmly against the door which showed her will power.
As these thoughts swirled in his mind, Grey couldn’t help but sigh internally.
"Show the way."
"Okay." The tuxedoed man nodded quickly, already nervous and eager to escape the pressure. He immediately began guiding Grey.
Grey turned to the mature woman and spoke gently, trying to console her.
"Don’t be scared. No one will hurt you. Go wait in the library."
The woman nodded slowly, her voice trembling. "I..."
"You don’t have to worry about anything," Grey interrupted softly. "Just stay calm and collected, okay? We’ll talk about everything when I return."
This woman had stood guard outside his library for several days. Speaking coldly to her now would only be cruel.
"...Okay," she finally managed to nod.
With that, Grey followed behind the man in the tuxedo. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Remember this," he said in a quiet voice as they walked. "If you want to invite someone, treat them with respect. If you treat people like scum, karma will catch up to you."
The tuxedoed man nodded silently.
They quickly boarded a carriage and traveled down the road.
Before long, they arrived at a grand palace.
Grey remained seated, gazing out the window with narrowed eyes. The palace was surrounded by hundreds of guards, and all of them emitted spiritual energy.
They were all Book Tamers.
The carriage door opened, and Grey stepped out with a silent sigh.
Inside him, Lilith remained quiet. Her mind had been shaken ever since she saw what looked like a replica of Grey’s consciousness. The sight alone had made her break out in a cold sweat.
She was certain, it was him. But how could there be two of him?
Even if he had a twin, their souls would be completely different.
"Just what is he?"
At that moment, Lilith realized that calling Grey a ’genius’ barely scratched the surface. He was far more mysterious, and far more powerful than she had imagined.
Back in the physical world, Grey walked across a lavishly decorated floor. A red carpet stretched before him, and the corridor around him was draped in shadow.
Tall windows lined the walls, revealing glimpses of a beautiful garden outside. The faint laughter of children drifted in through the glass.
At last, Grey arrived in front of a massive set of doors, guarded by two silent guards.
The two guards saluted and pushed open the massive doors.
Instantly, a wave of noise hit Grey’s ears, clamorous chatter and murmurs filled the grand hall. But before he could take another step, a clear voice announced:
"Grey, the Diamond Grimoire Tamer, has arrived."
The hall fell into complete silence.
Grey looked ahead, his gaze sweeping over the crowd of richly dressed individuals, all now quiet and watching him.
At the far end of the hall, seated on a grand throne, was a man draped in a red cape, a golden crown resting atop his head. His long brown hair framed a calm yet authoritative expression.
"It’s a pleasure to see you here," the man said in a deep and steady voice. "The great genius who managed to tame a Diamond Grimoire, I must commend your power."
Grey bowed his head slightly and replied with respectful composure:
"Thank you. But your praise is more than I deserve."
Everyone stared at Grey with wide eyes, even the king paused, momentarily at a loss for words.
"How dare he speak so informally to His Majesty?"
"As expected of a commoner. No respect at all."
"That’s not how you address a king..."
Voices full of disdain echoed through the hall, coming from those dressed in luxurious robes, clearly nobles.
Grey remained silent, unfazed beneath their judging gazes.
They didn’t know that his strength since his spiritual energy hadn’t fully recovered.
In this Kingdom, power determines everything, including status and respect. And the hierarchy reflected that.
Every noble standing before him was at least at the level of a High-tier Disciple. Some had even reached the Master level.
"Hahaha, good, good. I like how arrogant you are, you remind me of my younger self," the King mumbled.
Grey looked at him silently, his blue pupils flickering.
The King raised an eyebrow, curious: "Do you not respect me?"
"I don’t respect a king who allows his citizens to be captured in broad daylight," Grey replied, his pupils flashing coldly.
He was certain the ones who had attacked him weren’t from this kingdom, their clothing was entirely different, and their accents clearly foreign.
Besides, his rise in this place should have been inevitable. Capturing Lucy had been a foolish move on their part.
Not to mention, they lacked any killing intent toward him. That fact alone had made everything clear.
"Who was captured?" the king spoke with confusion in his tone.
Just then, a soldier at the side walked up to him and started to whisper some words in his ears.
The king heard all of the words and became utterly silent again, his eyes narrowed as he sized Grey again:
"Your lover was captured?"
"A friend," Grey spoke in utter calmness.
"It seems she was the youngest princess of the Celestria Kingdom. Our kingdom is barely one-fourth of their size and cannot compete against them, and your life is not harmed, so we can’t intervene in their matters," the king spoke nonchalantly, his gaze sharpened as he sized up Grey:
"I know you are sad, but are you not man enough to take your own woman?"
"I am not here to blame you, King, I just don’t consider you as a king," Grey spoke in a colder voice, matching the king’s gaze.
For a moment, there was lingering tension in the air before the king burst out laughing as he directly stated:
"Haha, interesting, interesting. Tell me, what do you want?"
"I want Grimoires."
