Chapter 227: Endless Possibilities!

The consciousness in front of Grey was, of course, Zarek, still imprisoned by Mirabella.

The two consciousnesses were nearly identical, as they were, after all, one and the same.

In fact, whether it was Drayken or any of the other clones, it would make no difference. They were all clones of Eryke.

Even if their races had changed, even if their identities and thoughts differed, at their core, they would always be the same.

Right now, however, the one most shaken was Lilith. Seeing a consciousness that mirrored Grey’s, her disbelief was plain as she trembled and stammered:

"H-how is this possible?"

Her entire body quivered with shock.

"Don’t think too much about it." Grey chuckled with a grin, then grew thoughtful. "How could you have ended up here too? Was it because I used you as a tool, or was it..."

He paused, eyes widening.

"That’s exactly it, brat," Lilith murmured. "I didn’t expect this either. Our souls, they’ve almost merged. What kind of power do you have that allows complete taming? How could this even be possible? Now, if you die, I die with you."

She gritted her teeth.

"What did I see in you to bind myself completely like this?" Her voice was hoarse, her expression filled with utter disbelief and filled with regret.

While her world remained disoriented by the recent events, Grey shook his head and looked toward Zarek.

"Although our souls are connected, I can’t help you right now," Grey said with a sigh, frustration flickering in his eyes.

Zarek nodded in unison, as if the thought had already passed through his own mind. They didn’t need words to understand each other, but they still spoke out loud, it felt more convenient that way for some reason.

"How would you even help me?" Zarek asked. Then they both instinctively turned their gaze toward Lilith.

"We might be able to bring in other Grimoires, Grimoires are things that can defy reality itself," Grey said, his eyes lighting up with hope. "And with it, you might finally be free. The Nagas are coming to help too."

"An excellent idea, as expected of ’me’." Zarek gave a smug thumbs-up.

Grey rolled his eyes, then turned his attention back to Lilith with a curious expression.

"So... how do we go back?"

"Go back?" Lilith tilted her head. "You just have to write in my pages again."

Grey frowned. "And how exactly do I do that?"

This time, he was only here to test out the soul link. Now that he knew the soul connection could truly link him to the other clones, he could experiment with various abilities.

Moreover, the soul connection didn’t just work one way, it could work in both ways. The others could connect with him as well.

That changed everything.

It meant he could call upon the soul of Drayken, or any of the other clones and borrow their abilities through the connection.

In simple terms, this one soul link had unlocked endless possibilities for him.

The implications could be summed up in a single word... massive.

And speaking of massive...

"To write, just use your finger as a quill and write on my forehead," Lilith said, a blush creeping onto her face.

"Eh?" Grey frowned. This lewd woman was actually blushing, somehow making it feel oddly... sexual.

Anyway, in the end, he sighed inwardly and walked up to her, step by step. Raising his finger, he slowly began to write on her forehead.

"Mhmh..." Lilith moaned involuntarily.

Grey ignored the strange sound and focused. He wrote just two words, but even that consumed nearly 20% of his spiritual energy for a single word, a total of 40%, since he was using his hand. Fortunately, he had enough to spare.

"Soul Release."

In an instant, Grey vanished from the space along with Lilith. Zarek, left behind, stared at the now-empty surroundings with a sigh.

"I guess I’ll still have to be captured, for a little while."

His eyes narrowed, a ruthless gleam flashing within them.

A gleam burning with unrestrained fury.

Grey’s soul returned to his body, and his eyes slowly opened.

He sat in silence, scanning the familiar room as the intensity of his earlier rage faded. With his emotions settling, his mind grew clearer, sharper.

Now that he could think rationally again, a new thought surfaced.

"Wasn’t the king supposed to send someone to invite me?" he asked, turning to Lilith with a questioning glance.

"I sent them away," Lilith replied with a smug sneer. "Hmph."

Grey raised an eyebrow. "I see..."

He fell into brief silence, then finally asked, "So... when do you think they’ll come back?"

What Grey needed most right now was power. Lilith’s abilities, impressive as they were, weren’t suited for direct combat in his current state.

A lower-tier grimoire, one with versatile, practical skills, would be far more useful. Besides, a grimoire that could bend reality might just be the key to breaking Zarek’s chains.

Just then, raised voices echoed from outside.

"Woman, move aside! I am the king’s messenger. Blocking me is treason!"

"No."

"You..."

Grey’s eyes narrowed. "Let’s go outside."

’Wait for me, Lucy,’ he thought silently.

When Grey stepped outside, a crowd had already gathered. In front of him, the mature woman stood with tears streaming down her face, desperately trying to shield herself from a man in a sharp tuxedo who was brandishing a knife.

The king’s messenger sneered, ready to threaten, but before he could act, Grey’s cold voice cut through the chaos.

"I’m here. What do you want?"

The man froze mid-motion, the knife trembling in his hand as his eyes locked onto Grey’s long golden hair and piercing blue pupils.

"What?" Grey repeated, his tone even colder.

"I... I... the king has sent for you," the man stammered, his voice cracking under his gaze.

"So, bullying a defenseless woman is your way of delivering an invitation?" Grey frowned.

The man faltered again, repeating, "I... I..." as if his courage had completely drained.
