My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms-Chapter 189: Why Don’t You Just Sit on My Head
On Jack Yates’s birthday, a Tuesday, Renee Winslow was in class and didn’t attend his birthday party.
But even if she didn’t have class, she wouldn’t have gone.
Jack Yates didn’t invite her, and she didn’t offer to go either.
At five in the afternoon, Jack Yates returned home with a slight drunkenness.
Renee Winslow also happened to return from school, and the two entered the house one after the other.
Harvey Lancaster unloaded box after box of gifts from the trunk, including over a dozen watches each worth seven to eight hundred thousand.
The Fifth Master gifted a Mount Taishon Buddha Light Tin Can, a luxury item for affluent young men in The Capital to keep crickets.
Other gifts included a pure gold tea pet, cloisonné vases, a whole case of Maotai, and pre-Qingming Longjing tea.
Renee Winslow was left speechless, silently exclaiming in her mind, "Damn capitalists! Damn class systems!"
Jack Yates loosened his tie, unbuttoned three buttons on his shirt with one hand, and lazily and wearily sat on the sofa, leaning his head back against the cushions.
Renee Winslow put down her bag and asked softly, "Are you uncomfortable? Do you want some water?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Jack Yates grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, his hot breath brushing against her face, his voice thick and enticing, as if soaked in an aged cellar, "Renee, you haven’t given me a gift yet."
Renee Winslow poked his chest with her finger and pointed at the boxes, "You’ve got this huge pile worth billions. Do you still need a gift from me?"
Jack Yates held her slim, fair fingers and gently bit her pink fingertips, "But I only want what you give me."
Renee Winslow stepped back from his embrace and took his hand, "First, let me say, my gift isn’t worth much. You can’t despise it; if you do, I’ll throw it away."
Jack Yates stood up leisurely, letting her lead him out of the house.
Renee Winslow took him to the garden, where a sapling was placed on the ground.
She pressed her lips together, looking at the cheap gift she bought, her face a little hot.
"I didn’t know what to give you. Cars, houses, those I can’t afford, and you don’t need them. Your clothes are all tailor-made and delivered each season, so you don’t need those either. As for those luxury watches, tobacco, and alcohol, you have boxes, so you don’t need more from me."
"Half a month ago, I was thinking about what kind of birthday gift to give you. I found out that your birthday is also Arbor Day, so I bought a persimmon tree online."
She looked up at Jack Yates, her charmingly inebriated eyes turning into crescent moons with a smile.
"I asked the shop; this is a grafted sapling that will bear fruit in three to four years."
With that, she clasped her hands over her chest, looking solemnly sincere, "Happy birthday, may Brother San have all his wishes come true."
Under the setting sun, her small, fair face glowed softly, her eyes clear and bright.
Jack Yates gazed at her gentle, pretty appearance, his heart melting to the core, and he hugged her close, kissing the top of her head, "Thank you, darling."
But before the tree could bear fruit, they had already separated, becoming strangers.
In the blink of an eye, it was May.
Before the May Day holiday, Jack Yates rushed back from Euporia. That night, lying in bed, Jack Yates held her and asked where she’d like to go during the vacation?
Renee Winslow looked at the ceiling, seriously pondering for a moment, but couldn’t think of anything.
She shook her head, "I don’t know."
Jack Yates laughed, "Didn’t you say from now on that you would decide where we go for outings?"
Renee Winslow pouted, "I didn’t do well on my exams, I’m not in the mood to play."
Jack Yates looked at her slightly red, pouting lips, gently tapping them with his finger, and chuckled, "Didn’t you pass your teaching certification exams? What else do you have to take?"
Renee Winslow was attempting an IELTS exam, which she hadn’t passed.
A score of 6 is considered passing for IELTS, but she only scored 5.5.
She regretted not enrolling in an IELTS preparation class. If she had, she might have passed this time.
The reason she didn’t enroll was that it was not feasible for her.
Every day Benjamin Lane and Henry Hayes, her two bodyguards, followed her, taking her to classes in the morning and picking her up in the afternoon. She also had her professional courses to attend, and she could only take IELTS classes after her professional classes in the afternoon.
But if she went to IELTS prep classes after school, Jack Yates would find out.
Jack Yates was keenly perceptive. If he knew she was taking IELTS, he’d get upset and might even forbid her from studying English altogether.
So she didn’t dare tell Jack Yates the truth and lied instead, "I didn’t pass the beginner ZHC exam."
Jack Yates chuckled, "Why are you taking that? It’s not like you need it."
Renee Winslow retorted, "The more skills, the better. What’s wrong with wanting an additional certification?"
Jack Yates laughed, pulling her onto him, "Press down on me a bit."
Renee Winslow playfully punched his chest a few times.
Jack Yates caught her hand and guided it lower, "Hit here."
Renee Winslow opened her mouth and bit his chin, "I’ll just bite you to death."
Jack Yates led her hand to touch him, "Biting my chin won’t kill me; biting here might make me die." Leaning his head, his lips brushed her earlobe, and in a husky voice, he enunciated, "Ecstasy."
During the May Day holiday, Renee Winslow and Jack Yates didn’t travel too far.
The two went hiking on a mountain in The Kyoro Outskirts on a day with perfect weather. They leisurely climbed to the top, watched the sunset together, viewed the stars at night, set up a tent to sleep in, gazing at the stars, and then slept in the tent.
Renee Winslow snuggled closely in Jack Yates’s embrace, her back against his warm chest, her head resting on his arm.
Aside from hiking and sleeping on the mountaintop, Jack Yates took her to a resort in The Kyoro Outskirts. They spent two days at the resort, just the two of them, without any friends.
On the last day, they were at home. After breakfast, Jack Yates went to water the persimmon tree in the garden. After watering, he held her hand, strolling in the garden.
When the sun fully rose, they went back inside, each busy with their own tasks in their study.
The house had two studies, but Renee Winslow brought her books into Jack Yates’s study, sitting beside him.
Jack Yates smiled fondly, patting her head.
In the afternoon, the two lay in rocking chairs on the porch, enjoying the breeze and watching the sunset.
Swaying back and forth, Renee Winslow got up from her chair to squeeze into Jack Yates’s rocking chair, and when there wasn’t enough room, she sat right on top of him.
Jack Yates laughingly pinched her plump, soft cheeks, "You might as well just ride on my head."
Renee Winslow buried her face in his shoulder, muttering softly, "It’s not like I haven’t before."
Jack Yates pinched her earlobe, "I’ll let you ride me again when we get back inside, okay?"
