Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 464: Resigned
In the past, no matter what happened, Godfery Shaw would never resort to violence. He was inherently indifferent and would deal with matters calmly.
But now, an enraged Godfery Shaw struck out on the spot.
His grip was so strong that the person’s face turned blue.
"Young Master, please let go, you’re going to kill him."
"Boss Shaw, calm down. Let’s talk this over."
Hailey Smith entered with others, even he wouldn’t dare to curse at the Young Madam. This person dared to call her a siren, totally seeking his own death!
Hailey Smith respectfully said to Godfery Shaw, "Young Master, don’t dirty your hands, let me handle this small matter."
Godfery Shaw released his grip on the person.
The person, terrified out of his wits, finally managed to catch his breath and said in horror, "Call the..."
Before he could finish, Hailey Smith covered his mouth and smiled brightly at everyone, saying, "Sorry for the disturbance, I’ll take the troublemaker away, please continue."
Hailey Smith dragged the person out, leaving the conference room perfectly arranged.
The conference room fell silent.
...
Godfery Shaw’s deep eyes swept over everyone, coldly asking, "Have you all finished speaking? If not, continue."
The conference room was silent as a grave.
Cloudglow was different from other companies; the shareholders’ meeting couldn’t influence Godfery Shaw’s decisions. In Cloudglow, Godfery Shaw’s word was almost law. Because of this, Godfery Shaw’s long absence had caused discontent towards Basil Smith among the Cloudglow employees.
This discontent, over time, gradually evolved into dissatisfaction with Godfery Shaw.
It wasn’t that they wanted to rebel against Godfery Shaw; most of them hoped he would focus more on business rather than revolving around a woman all day.
Godfery Shaw was born to be a leader. How could he give up his career for a woman? To those elders who fought alongside him, Nancy Allen was akin to a siren who ruined nations.
An elder of the company couldn’t help but ask, "Boss Shaw, we respect any decision you make, but are you certain you want Basil Smith to manage the company on your behalf?"
Another executive sighed and said, "Do you trust Basil Smith that much? He doesn’t even own any shares in the company and could easily do something to harm the company’s interests."
Godfery Shaw leaned back in his chair, calmly stating, "Basil Smith will not betray."
Basil Smith sat quietly in his seat, his gaze unreadable beneath his glasses.
The executives knew they couldn’t argue; Godfery Shaw’s decisions were always final and absolute.
An executive sighed, "Since the Young Master has decided, we will cooperate and do our duties well."
"Rumors can’t be fully trusted, but they are never groundless. Young Master, be cautious."
"I hope you don’t regret it, Young Master."
Openly and covertly, these words suggested that Basil Smith was unfaithful and might use his power to undermine Godfery Shaw.
After all, human nature is often tested; Cloudglow is such a tempting target that anyone would find it hard to resist.
Godfery Shaw, however, was not worried about Basil Smith.
Back when Basil Smith got married, Godfery Shaw offered a substantial gift and even considered transferring some of Cloudglow’s shares to him, but Basil Smith refused.
If he could obtain something openly and honestly, why resort to deceit?
Godfery Shaw put down the documents on the table and asked, "Are you done talking? If so, it’s my turn to speak."
Everyone felt a tension in their hearts, suspecting that Godfery Shaw was about to make a significant move.
They saw Godfery Shaw rise from his seat, striding leisurely to place his hand reassuringly on someone’s shoulder as he dropped a file.
Continuing his walk, he dropped more files.
Godfery Shaw’s deep, magnetic voice, as cold as ice, echoed through the room: "For those accepting bribes, taking kickbacks, using company resources to open their own small businesses—normally, I’m too lazy to address these, but since you want to talk, let’s talk thoroughly."
The conference room fell silent once more.
As expected, when Godfery Shaw spoke, it led to significant actions.
The main reason was that Nancy Allen was ill, and Godfery Shaw didn’t have the time to deal with these matters, so he decisively solved them, leaving Basil Smith with a clear and bright company.
A meeting that almost shook the ranks of Cloudglow’s top executives had ended.
Some were happy, others were worried.
Everyone left the conference room, leaving only Godfery Shaw and Basil Smith.
Basil Smith poured hot water and placed it in front of Godfery Shaw. After a moment of silence, he said, "Young Master, it’s true. There are some issues with my ability to manage all of Cloudglow."
Godfery Shaw took a sip of water, "What I need isn’t someone who excels at developing the company; I need someone who is completely trustworthy."
Basil Smith asked no further questions. He dared not speak confidently about his abilities, but in every action he took, he honored the Young Master’s trust.
Just then, Hailey Smith hurriedly ran in with a phone without even knocking on the door, saying, "The Young Madam has woken up. She doesn’t look well, seems a bit unwell."
Godfery Shaw quickly glanced at the surveillance footage on Hailey’s phone, seeing Nancy Allen awake in the hanging chair. Her complexion was pale; she heaved dryly twice with her back to the manager, then massaged her stomach, pretending as if nothing had happened.
Godfery Shaw turned to leave, telling Basil Smith, "Take care of the company’s affairs."
Basil Smith nodded.
Godfery Shaw quickly exited the conference room and, as he reached the downstairs lobby, he even remembered that Nancy had asked him to find the contact information of the security guard’s sister.
Yet he saw that the security had changed, and directly asked the reception, "Where is Thomas Carter, the security guard?"
The newly changed receptionist, after being reminded, knew that the previous receptionist had been fired for bullying the security guard, and that the security guard seemed to have connections with the higher-ups. But never did she expect that the president would personally inquire!
She answered quickly in a panic, "Thomas Carter quit a while ago."
Godfery Shaw frowned.
The receptionist was frightened and quickly explained, "No one bullied him, he just suddenly wanted to resign himself."
Godfery Shaw didn’t press further, eager to check on Nancy Allen, he only ordered, "Give me Thomas Carter’s contact information and address."
After getting Thomas Carter’s contact information and address, Godfery Shaw quickly headed to the flower house at the back street.
When he arrived at the flower house, Nancy Allen had already come down from the hanging chair, sipping water from a cup slowly.
Seeing Godfery Shaw come over, Nancy Allen put down the cup, her face lighting up with a smile: "Godfery Shaw, why did you come back so soon?"
Godfery Shaw walked over, picked up Nancy Allen’s cup, checked the water to ensure it was warm, and said, "I came as soon as I finished with company matters. Oh, and Thomas Carter resigned; I got his contact and address for you."
Nancy Allen frowned upon hearing that. Why would Thomas Carter resign? Back when he was humiliated and pressured by the reception, he never thought of resigning.
He had worked hard to secure his position for his sister’s treatment, how could he suddenly choose to quit?
Nancy Allen called Thomas Carter’s phone, it rang several times, but no one answered.
Nancy Allen looked up at Godfery Shaw, saying, "Godfery Shaw, I want to visit Ruby Carter’s home."
Godfery Shaw, somewhat puzzled, asked, "Why, Nancy, do you care so much about that brother and sister?"
