Chapter 114: Duke Haborym’s Plan

Bam!

The serpent’s skull collided with Damian’s fist, and a powerful shockwave erupted, shattering every window and pane of glass around them. The serpent jerked backward from the immense force, throwing Duke Haborym off its back as its massive body slammed into a nearby pillar.

Meanwhile, Haborym landed smoothly on both feet, and all three of his heads shifted their attention to Damian at once before bursting into a full sprint.

Rumb! Rumble!

Under the weight of the colossal demon, the ground trembled, yet his speed did not falter in the slightest. In less than a second, Duke Haborym’s towering frame loomed over Damian.

His fist shot downward like a missile, but it tore through Damian’s afterimage like a plume of smoke before crashing into the ground, causing that entire section to collapse.

[Moonstep]

Damian’s figure flickered into existence at the side, his fist already surging forward with murderous intent.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Cataclysm Pulse!

Chains of violent explosions rocked everything west of Duke Haborym, completely engulfing Damian’s figure as the entire western portion of the building began collapsing under the relentless bombardment.

Amid the chaos, neither combatant paid any attention to the singular pyramid-shaped eye hovering at the corner of the building, silently observing their battle. This was clearly the work of the church.

Meanwhile, still observing from the safety of the rooftop through the [Eye of Providence] skill, Corbin and Linda stood stunned as a portion of the skyscraper crumbled under the intense assault. The sheer scale of destruction being unleashed made Linda feel as though she was witnessing a clash between two demon nobles.

"He is powerful..." Linda murmured in shock.

Despite having witnessed Damian effortlessly slaughter her angel and several demons, she had never imagined he could stand his ground against a demon noble like Haborym. The difference between humans and beings like demons or angels was simply too vast. Physically, they could snap a human like a twig, which made the sight of Damian trading blows with such a creature all the more unbelievable.

Even Father Corbin needed to be possessed by Gilbert to display this level of strength. What they did not know, however, was that humanity’s physical limit was capped at five points. In his base form, Damian already possessed physical capabilities three times greater than that of a peak human.

In truth, he was no longer human.

"Of course he is. He is the third prince of hell after all," Corbin replied indifferently, his arms folded across his chest.

Swoosh!

A plume of smoke burst out from the collapsing building, and with a loud crash, it slammed into the ground. Yet it did not stop there. The dust-covered figure continued sliding backward, layers of debris peeling away as he was driven further and further back.

Bam!

With the ground beneath his feet sinking under the pressure, Damian’s retreat came to an abrupt halt. His wings were wrapped tightly around him, but they had been badly damaged by fire. Scorched holes riddled their surface, and many of the feathers were half-burnt.

In their current condition, flight was impossible.

Damian’s chest rose and fell heavily. His hands crossed over his face, leaving only his left eye visible, cold and unyielding. Even after exchanging blows with Duke Haborym, there was no fear in his gaze, only an icy determination.

’My bones hurt,’ Damian silently acknowledged, his brow furrowing deeply.

With his infernal transformation, Damian’s stats sat comfortably at twenty points, yet he was still struggling against Duke Haborym. That alone meant this demon’s stats far exceeded twenty.

"If I can’t defeat it with my power, then I will break it with my skills!"

After realizing how his wives viewed him, Damian had decided to live on his own terms. He would no longer seek their permission, nor would he allow these demons to roam freely upon his world.

The respect they refused to give him would be forced from them.

And it would begin with Duke Haborym’s death.

That was why he did not even entertain the thought of escape, despite the clear disadvantage.

This was a fight he would either win or die in.

Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!

Loud claps echoed from within the crumbling building.

"My Prince has truly grown beyond my wildest expectations. Now I understand why Bathin was thoroughly eradicated by you. Against me, that weakling would have had no choice but to flee. Yet you stood your ground and fought me like a warrior. Commendable."

The massive emerald serpent slithered through the air as Haborym stood upon its head, his arms folded across his chest while his torch floated beside him. The look in his eyes, however, did not match the praise in his words.

"Yet you stand with my brothers over me?" Damian said as he straightened himself and lowered his hands.

Duke Haborym calmly shook his head.

"I’m afraid unrealized potential is all you will ever have."

He did not mince his words.

"We stand in a chaotic era that will lead to a decisive end in the war between demons and angels. This is not the time to nurture new strength. This is the time to rely on what already exists. Your inheritance would be better suited to an older and more experienced prince."

Duke Haborym spoke with a cold expression that could kill, yet even he noticed the shift in Damian’s face as it grew colder, more vicious.

To them, he was nothing more than a resource.

A possession already claimed.

"Hahahahahahahaha!"

Damian burst into hysterical laughter, leaving everyone, including Duke Haborym, momentarily confused. He ran a hand through his hair before lifting his head, a murderous grin spreading across his face.

"I was going to give you a chance to correct your stupidity. But now I understand your intent and how you truly see me. So I’ve decided..." Damian hissed, a vicious gleam blazing in his eyes.

"...to murder and erase you, just like I did to Bathin."

Be it man, angel or demon. Anyone who dares look down on him, will experience a horrible death.
