His face tail grew from his back... and then another....
And then
BOOM!!!
He released his aura.
With a cold voice, he spoke.
"Let’s get started."
The demon stopped to look at Dan. First from his hair that had now turned white, down to the katana he held. The demon’s eyes then moved from Dan’s katana to the bodies of the demons littered around.
Its face started to turn grim, its eyes now became fixed on Dan.
"How could you?" The demon gritted its teeth as it said.
"I..."
Dan had not finished his sentence when the demon moved and was already before Dan.
The demon threw a punch at Dan. But Dan reacted in time and placed Soul Reaper between them. The demon’s punch landed on the Soul Reaper.
Boom!!!
Their clash had sent a shock wave through the whole plane. The ground beneath their feet had turned into a crater.
The demon pulled back its hand. holding up its sword, it went for a slash at Dan’s abdomen.
With a graceful movement, Dan moved back just in time to avoid the blade slashing him.
But they didn’t give up and followed up with another counter. The demon drove his blade forward to impale Dan.
The blade had almost pierced Dan when he activated his divine stride and immediately his speed had increased. He moved out of the way for the demon to impale his afterimage.
The demon stopped to look at Dan, having realised that Dan was able to escape him at every turn.
The demon then held its sword with its two hands.
He then began supplying the blade with an enormous amount of energy, so much that the blade began to pulsate.
"Eclipse fang," the demon spoke softly.
The demon then slashed forward. A semi-circular arc was formed. It was dark in color. It began enclosing down on Dan. It gave Dan little or no room for escape. As the slash approached Dan, it cut through everything on its path; nothing could escape its slash.
Dan, seeing he had no way of escape, held Soul reaper tightly.
It seems we have to use the skill we had just learnt recently
Dan brought Soul Reaper up and held it between his eyes.
"Nightfall severance," Dan said.
Immediately, the shadows moved and spread all around the plain before they all moved toward Dan’s shadow and joined it.
From Dan’s shadow, they flowed into Dan, before they were sucked into Soul reaper.
At this point, the whole field had become shadowless.
Dan brought down his slash on the incoming eclipse fang. The clash brought about a kind of blinding darkness that covered the whole plain. But eventually, it dissipitated.
All the smaller demons seemed to be on the floor, shivering. Some bleed from their eyes and nose.
"Dead mirage," the demon spoke.
Immediately, clones of the demon started popping up. The demon ended up creating about five clones.
Each of the clones looked as strong and identical to the original demon.
The six demons immediately moved to attack Dan. Slashing their blades at him, they were able to encircle Dan and put him in the middle.
He was far stronger than I had anticipated. Dan thought as he evaded the blades of the demons and tried to escape encirclement.
The demon’s blade whooshed through the air, Dan was able to escape them by a hair’s breadth.
Dan gave himself some space from the demons. As he watched them approach him and attack him, he noticed one was always at the back, not really attacking.
That must be the real one. Dan said to himself.
"Reaper’s embrace," Dan spoke.
His shadow grew and swallowed him and pulled him into the realm of shadows. The shadow of the original demon rippled. And from it, Dan suddenly popped out. His katana headed toward the original demon.
It was then he noticed something was amiss.
Apart from the demon he was attacking, he could count that there were five demons heading for him.
Dan counted six demons around him, plus the seventh away from them. On its face was a smile. Not just any smile, but a crooked one.
Dan knew what that crooked smile meant. Soul reaper had now pierced through the demon.
And the demon then held Dan in place.
Dan watched as the demons now surrounded him. He could see the energy gathering within their blades, and he knew what that meant.
It seemed he had baited and lured me to the centre. Dan forced a smile as he thought.
The blades were now fully charged with energy when the demons whispered in unison.
"Eclipse fang."
This time, the sword technique carried more weight, and it felt more deadly. It seemed to be locked on Dan.
He tried to move, but he wasn’t able to move because the demon he had impaled held him in place.
Dan grabbed the demon by the throat and broke its neck, but by now, the technique had already closed on him. He was surrounded on all sides.
"Reaper..." Dan tried to speak before the demon’s technique collided.
BOOM!!!
The place where Dan and the demon stood now exploded. It was now covered with dust and debris that flew around.
One of the demons started heading toward the debris to check if there was any form of life remaining.
As the demon checked, it found nothing. Another then approached the scene again. Only to find nothing there. The demons then stared at each other. The tense look on their eyebrows then softened. The demons began sheathing back their blades.
"I don’t think he could have survived that," the voice said.
The demons froze; their eyes widened.
The demon wanted to reach for its sword. But immediately stopped when he felt the cold blade of Soul reaper bite on his neck.
"I wouldn’t do that if I were you," Dan said coldly.
The demon just stood there in place as he looked at his other clones.
One of the clones immediately began to gather its energy.
And for the moment Dan was perplexed at why the demon would want to attack while the main one was in danger of being killed.
The demon immediately moved to strike down Dan and the original demon.
