Watching how his big brother had disgraced himself publicly for the whole continent to see, the little brother covered his face with his palms in embarrassment.
"That is not my brother. There seems to be some kind of mistake."
The young brother said, and everyone smiled and giggled as they watched the little brother, feeling embarrassed and disappointed.
Even the adults who had joined in with snacks in their hands couldn’t help but smile and giggle after realizing what had happened.
And so, the tournament continued, but the number of contestants qualifying for the next round dropped significantly.
So many demons were unable to proceed to the next round, but only a few were able to make it to the next round.
Out of a total of over ten thousand contestants, only two thousand of them were able to successfully defeat a golem, while everyone else lost against their opponents.
Now, these two thousand contenders would be watched closely to see who would qualify for the next round and who would be kicked out of the tournament.
After watching the first round of the tournament, every demon across the continent had seen how this tournament wasn’t a joke or something to be taken lightly.
Watching how eight thousand had been kicked out showed how extremely difficult the first round had been.
But if the first round was really that difficult, then it means that the second round was going to be a lot harder than the first round, and many wondered what the second round would be all about.
And so, they waited for their beautiful succubus announcer to appear, hoping she would be able to shed some light on things.
But since she hadn’t arrived yet.
Instead, everyone watched as the screen in front of them began to disappear one after the other.
And the moment the last projection, showing a fallen golem, faded into nothingness, all the remaining two thousand contestants suddenly appeared on the arena.
Healers and potion brewers instantly stormed into the arena to help and cure the wounded because many demons managed to win, but they were only able to do so while having bruises and scratches scattered all over their bodies.
More bodies began to appear, and so did more healers, with each of them hurrying to seal their wounds before the second round began.
And in a matter of minutes, Lilith, the succubus announcer, appeared and hovered above the platform.
Her wings were spread wide apart as her crimson colored eyes swept over the contestants and the spectators alike.
"Congratulations to you all for surviving the first round," she said smoothly. "I’m sure many of you are excited to find out what the second round will be all about, but I am sorry to disappoint you, but that won’t be possible."
"All I can say is that the second round is going to be a lot harder than the first round," Lilith announced as she stared at the two thousand contestants below.
Each of the contestants glanced at each other with a worried look on their faces, but Lilith didn’t care about this; she simply clapped her hands together before saying. "Let the second round begin!!!"
And everyone got teleported once again into their respective locations.
The surveillance eye was here as well, so everyone across the continent could watch what was going on.
But everyone wondered what this second round was going to be about, including the contestants themselves.
Everyone had been divided into groups, with each group having fifty demons each.
A few demons glanced around and noticed how dark and eerily quiet their environment was.
Currently, they had been teleported into what looked like a forest, but the forest had no signs of life within it.
There were no birds, and there were no sounds of any other creature either.
It almost feels like they were the only ones in the forest, but strangely, it felt like there was something with them in that forest, and this made many of the demons uneasy.
Almost all of the demons felt this way until somebody suddenly screamed out of nowhere.
"Argh!!!"
It was a sharp and high-pitched voice, but it was immediately cut off, and this caused many heads to snap in the direction the sound had come from.
"What was that?"
"Did you hear that?"
"Yes,"
"Do you know what could have caused it?"
"No, but it came from over there." A demon pointed in the direction the sound came from, and a few demons stepped back in fear.
Every one of them had now been spread out throughout the forest.
Even if they were currently fifty in a group, they were still spread out wide within their group, and since the forest was really dark right now, it made things really difficult for most demons.
Yes, some of them could see in the dark, but they still couldn’t see or sense what could have caused one of them to scream so loudly.
However, this only made some of them feel really agitated because some of them could already guess what they were about to face.
"What do we do?"
"I think we should go check it out."
"But... But what if it’s a....." Before the male demon could utter what he had in mind, everyone suddenly heard a sound, echoing through the misty, dark forest.
"Baaahhh~"
The voice sounded wrong.
That wasn’t the sound any demon would make, but it was definitely the sound of a familiar spirit beast many had heard stories of but had never seen before.
"Baaahhh~" The spirit beast sounded once again, but this time from a different location, causing everyone to turn around the moment they heard it.
Then it bleated differently this time around. "Meeeeehhhh~"
And more followed.
"Baaahhh~"
"Meeeeehhhh~"
Now the sounds looked like they were having fun and mocking the demons who had yet to see them, causing a few of the contestants to feel pissed off.
"Who’s there?!!"
"Show yourself?!!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Are you two stupid? You’re asking it to show itself?" A third demon questioned as he looked at the other two demons, who were yet to realize what they were up against.
"What?"
"What’s wrong?"
"Don’t you two realize what we’re up against?"
"What are we up against?"
"Tell us."
"They’re....." The demon opened its mouth to speak, but before it could do so, more sounds rippled through the forest.
"Meeehh~"
The sounds pierced through the thick mist, crawling into their ears and noses as a huge surge of fear suddenly slammed into every demon in the forest.
The feeling was so intense, and it felt like hundreds of invisible hands were squeezing the hearts of these demons, tightening their lungs and pressing down on their minds, causing a lot of them to scream out in agony.
"What is this?....!!" A young demon staggered as he clutched his head. "Make it stop.....please!!!"
His knees buckled, and he fell to the ground while shaking violently as his eyes slowly rolled backwards.
Meanwhile, another female demon dropped her weapon and screamed as she held her throat. "Help....!! I can’t breathe...! I can’t breathe...!!"
She clawed at her neck and chest as her eyes widened with terror while others tried to run and escape, but they could only make it three steps before slamming their heads into an unseen wall.
A few others screamed out in agony and hurriedly ran to slam their heads against trees, thinking it would be enough for the pain to stop, not knowing that they were being brainwashed to hurt themselves.
But while all these were happening, what the contestants didn’t know was that there was currently a massive presence in the forest, standing on a tree trunk as it watched them all from a really high tree.
It was none other than a spirit beast.
But it was a really huge spirit beast called a Fanged Panda.
The fanged panda had white and black fur, just like a normal panda, but it also had glowing marks around its body, as well as it enjoyed the view of the demons in front of it, screaming and crying in pain.
"Hehehehe~ I like it when my preys react like this." The panda murmured to itself and a few other spirit beasts emerged around it.
They were spirit goats and sheep and each one began to appear one by one, after bouncing around the forest, to confuse the little demons still on the ground.
"BAAAHHH!" one of the spirit sheep leaped through the group of contestants, and everyone of them could feel as though something has just sliced through them.
It didn’t really hurt them physically, but everyone could suddenly feel a strong feeling of cold piercing through their skins as the feeling of fear scratching and clawing through their minds tripled even more, forcing all the young demons to shriek and collapse instantly while others clutched their heads as more fears flooded through their minds, with many of them begging for it to stop and a few others screaming for their mommies to help them.
However, the spirit goats and sheep were too busy having fun with what they were seeing right now, and each of them burst out in laughter as they watched the demons tremble in fear.
