Chapter 82: 82. Welcome To The Contender’s Hall.

"Dramatic?" Aurora stood up before turning around to face Vivian. "You had two children, and yet, you hid them from us. You didn’t even tell us anything about them. Don’t you know how insulted I feel right now?"

Seeing how unhappy Aurora was right now, Vivian could only say a single word with a sad look on her face.

"Sorry."

She hung her head down in sadness before swiftly giving Lily a wink that made the little girl giggle while covering her mouth.

Since this was supposed to be a serious conversation between her mother and the angel called Aurora, Lily thought it would be rude if Aurora were to suddenly see her laughing while she was still feeling sad about how Vivian had treated her.

But since her mother had winked at her, Lily was finding it hard not to laugh.

"So, you’re really sorry, huh?" Aurora asked, just to be certain.

"Yes, I am."

"Humph. Damn right you should be." Rowena huffed and crossed her arms underneath her chest, causing Vivian to roll her eyes with a smile on her face.

Behind them was Hallie, who stood perfectly still behind Vivian in particular.

Aurora’s gaze flicked toward her, and she nodded once to acknowledge her presence before saying. "Still terrifying as always, I see."

Hallie smiled softly before bowing respectfully to the Queen of Angels. "Your Majesty flatters me."

Meanwhile, a soft chuckle echoed from another corner of the platform, and it was coming from an elderly man with an incredibly long beard.

He was laughing a bit loudly for someone his age while he talked with various other world leaders from the Beastmen continent and merfolks continent.

Everyone continued to have something to say as the chatting continued for quite some time, but since Lily didn’t really have anyone to talk to like Cara and Astrid, she instead decided to focus her attention on the arena floor, hoping she would be able to see her big brother soon.

Meanwhile, Aster was still surprised by what had happened to him and how he had suddenly arrived here.

One moment, he was standing beside his mother and sister in the center of the arena, where the cheers of the spectators almost felt like they were shaking the very stones beneath his feet.

And the next thing he knew, the world around him suddenly changed.

In fact, it felt like he had suddenly been pulled away from the arena and into an entirely new location.

Of course, he knew that only his mother would have been able to do such a thing at such a remarkable speed at that, and that would explain why the noise of the crowd and the heat he had been feeling earlier had suddenly died down and vanished, respectively.

Initially, when he had stepped out of his carriage and onto the arena floor, the amount of heat in the air had been really intense, but since he was already accustomed to it, thanks to his dragon bloodline, Aster wasn’t really troubled by it.

Looking around, Aster noticed that his visions were slowly becoming clearer than they had been when he had suddenly appeared in this unknown location.

Aster looked around and found himself standing on a smooth obsidian flooring which happened to be beneath a vaulted ceiling of dark red colored stones.

The air here was warm but not as hot as the air up above, and from what he could see around him, Aster was certain that he was definitely in what looked like an underground pathway that was just beneath the arena, which really looked a lot like a coliseum.

Aster also noticed the wide arches that lined up the hall, with each arch having some words inscribed on it.

Luckily for him, his mother’s teachings these past few weeks had been really helpful, and thanks to her, Aster was able to easily recognize the writings as demonic letters.

"Welcome to the Contender’s Hall."

This was the words that were inscribed on the arch, and Aster stepped forward, into the long pathway that led to a hall filled with thousands of young demons just like him.

Each one of them was scattered around the chamber, and Aster noticed how some leaned against pillars with their arms folded across their chests while others stretched quietly in preparation for what was to come.

Others began to do a few exercises for their muscles and joints, while a separate group just sat cross-legged on the floor with their eyes closed as they focused on circulating their aura all over their bodies.

Looking around, this place looked really loud even without anyone saying anything. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

From what he could see around him, everyone looked prepared and ready for battle, and Aster felt the same way as well.

He remained still, and he continued to look around with a steady and calm mindset, allowing him to take note of the tension he could actually feel in the room.

With everyone having a different range of facial expressions, Aster noticed how many demons in the hall had varying reasons for standing in this place, ranging from pride, desperation, ambition, to duty.

Some even had their eyes burning with confidence and determination, while others tried their best to mask their fears with rigid expressions.

But thanks to his appraisal skill, Aster was certain that every single one he had seen so far wasn’t actually weak.

While still thinking about this, Aster suddenly noticed a blue female demon wearing a goth-styled clothing he was pretty familiar with by now.

’Isn’t that Astrid?’

Yes, he was certain of it.

But what exactly was she doing here?

From what he could recall, Aster was certain that Astrid had told him of her interest in not participating in this tournament.

However, now that she was here with everyone else, doesn’t that mean she had changed her mind, and now she was ready to participate in the tournament?

Either way, Aster saw no reason as to why he should just keep standing still without moving close enough to hear what she had to say.

It’s been weeks since he last saw her, so there shouldn’t be any problems in saying "hi" to a friend of his, and from what he could see as well, it doesn’t seem like she’d noticed his presence yet.

"Alright, let’s go say hi."

But just before he could walk close to Astrid, Aster suddenly heard a low chime which immediately drew everyone’s attention in the hall.

Looking around, the low murmuring in the hall instantly died down, and from one of the far arches in the hall, Aster noticed several figures emerging into the room.

Judging by how they looked and dressed, they seemed to be the tournament officials, and Aster was certain of this due to the dark crimson robes each of them was wearing, which seemed to be trimmed with black sigils bearing the mark of House Azazel Insignia.

At their center was a tall, broad-shouldered demon with crimson colored skin and a large pair of horns.

These were the basic features of a Pyro Demon, but the only difference between the Pyro Demon lord’s royal household and that of a Pyro Demon born from a simple background was the number of their arms.

Vulcan had four arms, and so did every other pyro demon in his household, but commoner pyro demons didn’t have four arms like him, and instead, they had two arms just like everybody else.

"Contenders." The male pyro demon official spoke out as his voice reverberated across the hall.

His voice was deep, but he was able to amplify it thanks to his magic. "Welcome to the Demon Youth Tournament."

Silence followed as everyone listened attentively to what he had to say.

"Before any of you step onto the battlefield, you’ll be issued standard tournament equipment, and you’ll be briefed on the restrictions associated with this tournament. Failure to comply with these rules and restrictions will result in immediate disqualification." The male demon cautioned as he flicked his hand, and several floating constructs drifted into the hall.

They were rectangular slabs of black stones having glowing red lines that seemed to have been etched on these stones.

Then the stones began to slowly hover in front of all the contestants, including Aster as well.

The moment it appeared before him, a smaller official suddenly appeared before him, just like everyone else, then the little demon scanned him from head to toe with his strict and stern eyes.

"Your name?" He asked.

"Aster D. Gremory."

The little demon paused for a fraction of a second before inclining his head.

"Acknowledged." He stated, and the stone slab shimmered before reshaping itself into a set of items that floated neatly in the air, just right in front of the Dragon Prince.

A/N:- As previously mentioned before, it’s been difficult writing while feeling under the weather these past few days, but luckily things have been better for me, that’s why I’ve been able to release a Chapter a day, despite it having some grammatical errors and I can also understand some readers frustration in not being able to read the privilege Chapters, but I can assure you now that this won’t be happening ever again... hopefully.

Thank you so much once again.
