My Happy Dragon Life With Supernatural Girls-Chapter 76. Bonding With Astrid.
"So, how about the tournament, are you excited about it too?" Aster asked but Astrid simply pulled her legs closer to her chest before wrapping her arms around it while her back remained rested against the oak tree.
Aster noticed her silence and he couldn’t help but ask. "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Is it about the tournament?"
"....."
"You don’t like it?"
"It’s not that."
"Then what is it? You don’t think you’re ready or strong enough to participate?"
"No, it’s not that, either."
"Ohh, then what is it?" Aster asked again but Astrid remained quiet.
Aster studied her reaction slowly before opening his mouth to speak. "You do not want to participate, don’t you?"
"....." Astrid didn’t say anything but her arms around her legs tightened as she stared at the flowers in front of her.
"Is there a reason why you do not want to participate?"
"I don’t know, I just feel like is there really a point in taking part in the tournament?"
"Well, ultimately, the choice is yours to make and only you can decide if you want to take part in this tournament or not."
"I wish."
"What did you say?"
"Um, nothing."
Astrid had uttered her words softly but thanks to Aster’s sharp sense of hearing, he was able to hear exactly what she had muttered to herself, but since Astrid didn’t want to repeat what she had said, Aster decided not to dwell too much on what she had said.
"Is your mom forcing you to take part in the tournament?" Aster asked.
"Not really, but she expects me to participate in it and I don’t think I’m...." Astrid paused as her hands tightened even more around her legs.
"If she’s not forcing you, then I guess all you really need to do is to tell her how you feel about the tournament."
"How?"
"Just stand straight and look her straight in the eye to show her how serious you are about what you’re about to say, then you tell her how you really feel about the tournament. If you can do this, then I’m sure she’s going to understand."
"But what if she doesn’t."
"She will."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I’m sure your Mom loves you and she’ll be happy to listen to whatever is troubling you. So just try to be brave and let her know how you truly feel "
Astrid pondered about what Aster said and she nodded in response.
"Thank you."
"You’re welcome."
The two remained still for awhile and neither of them spoke or said anything to each other.
They simply remained calm and instead, allowed the cool breeze to caress their faces.
After a while, Aster opened his mouth to ask. "So, if you’re not going to participate in the tournament, then what are you going to do? Is there anything else that interest you more than having a direct combat against your fellow demons?" Since Aster had demon blood flowing in his veins, he knew just like every other demon in the continent how his blood was pumping in excitement due to the upcoming tournament.
So, he wondered why Astrid wasn’t feeling the same way because even though the tournament was made directly for the young demons, aspiring to enroll into the academy, Aster was certain that even the adults were feeling the urge to battle against each other in the arena, so shouldn’t Astrid be feeling this as well?
But if Astrid wasn’t feeling this excitement within her, then it must mean that she had something else in mind which was of more interest to her than the tournament itself.
And so, Aster decided to ask her himself.
"Y-yes. There is." Astrid replied honestly but Aster slid closer to her and asked.
"What is it?"
For the first time since she’s been chatting with Aster, Astrid noticed how interested he was in genuinely knowing more about her, and Astrid couldn’t help but feel like teasing the dragon prince in return. "It’s a secret, but if you really want to know then you’ll have to win the tournament to find out."
Aster smiled but didn’t say anything about what she had said.
He simply stared at the sky and muttered underneath his breath.
"It seems like you know what you want but don’t want to share it unless I win the tournament huh?"
"Yes."
"Well, I guess it’s cool that you know what you really want but I can’t help but think about how cool it would have been if the two of us had faced each other in the tournament."
"Yeah, everyone would have definitely been talking about it for years but I’m sure they’ll be equally excited to see you fight against other princes as well."
"Oh, I guess you’re right about that, and that reminds me, have you seen the other princes yet?"
"No."
"Oh, me neither."
"Why did you ask?"
"I just wanted to know what they were like and what their strengths were or something along that line."
Hearing what Aster had said, Astrid couldn’t help but smile as she recalled how her mother had asked her to do the same thing for him.
Aster noticed it and asked. "What’s funny?"
"Nothing." Astrid smiled and stared at the sky before opening her mouth to say something. "If you’re worried about the tournament and the other princes you’ll be facing against, then you should have nothing to worry about."
"And why shouldn’t I?"
"Because I know you’re going to win." Astrid said as she unknowingly stared at Aster while saying what she had said.
Aster smiled warmly and he didn’t know why but he couldn’t help but feel glad to hear what the Frost Demon princess had said to him.
It also felt refreshing to see someone believe in him, just like Vivian’s legion and everyone else in the Gremory Household.
Coming into this world had really been a blessing in disguise, because he kept seeing and meeting new beings who had faith and trust in him, and Aster really felt touched to be surrounded by people like this.
"Thank you."
Astrid smiled with a nod and it took her a minute to realize that she had been staring at Aster a bit longer than she had intended to.
But when she noticed that Aster was still staring back at her with that silly smile on his face, her blue cheeks instantly turned purple and the beautiful Frost Demon princess cocked her head away so that Aster wouldn’t notice how embarrassed she was right now.
Seeing this, Aster smiled even more before resting his head back on the tree behind him while Astrid did the same as well.
The two remained that way until Astrid finally fell asleep with her head now resting on his shoulder.
Aster helped to tuck a few strands of her hair behind her ear before trying out what he had been wanting to do since Astrid had stepped into the garden.

’Woah,’ Aster exclaimed as he stared at the Astrid’s profile displayed in front of him and he couldn’t believe what he was seeing right now.
During his homecoming party, Aster recalled what Vulcan said about demons needing at least a decade before ranking up to First Order, but with what he could see right now on the screen in front of him, Aster noticed how Astrid was already really close to becoming a First Order Demon and she hadn’t even turned sixteen yet.
Since she was already at the Mid stage of being a Zero Order Demon, this meant that it was only a matter of time before she reaches the final stage and ranks up to become a First Order Demon.
Even as an Early Stage Zero Order Demon and having the system by his side as well, Aster knew exactly how hard it’s been for him to become as strong as he was right now but he was also confident of reaching the Mid stage before the tournament begins.
Leaving this topic for now, Aster decided to focus his attention on the part on the screen which says Astrid had a mutated bloodline.
From what he had heard and gathered so far, Aster knew exactly what a mutated bloodline meant, but he had never heard of a cursed bloodline before.
Mutated Bloodline were mainly within the seven demon lord households. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Each household had its members having a mutated bloodline within them.
This mutated bloodline meant that they could transform into something different from their current appearance.
For example, Aster was a dragon, so one doesn’t need to be a genius before knowing what his mutated bloodline could help him to achieve.
Meanwhile, Astrid was also the same thing as well and that means that with her mutated bloodline, she could transform into something completely different from her current appearance.
