Chapter 67: 67. The Tea Party.

Lily pulled Astrid to the couch and the Frost Demon princess sat opposite the little dragon princess.

The table between them had a silver tray with several snacks, some plates, and a teapot with three delicate-looking cups.

Hallie gently placed a plate in front of Vivian, Lily, and Astrid.

Then she filled their plates with snacks.

Feeling excited, Lily leaned forward while holding her cup. "Hallie, tea please!" The little princess chirped, and Vivian did the same.

"Me too, Hallie."

Seeing both mother and daughter acting cute, Hallie smiled softly and replied.

"Of course, Your Majesty." Hallie poured the tea and filled up Vivian’s cup first, before filling that of Lily’s, and then Astrid’s.

Meanwhile, Astrid found it strange to see the dragon queen acting in such a way but she didn’t dwell too much on that.

Instead, she directed her attention to the tea Hallie had brewed for them.

The aroma of the tea drifted upward as Astrid lifted her cup carefully to take a sip of her tea.

It wasn’t really the sweetest tea she had ever tasted but it was certainly better than any other tea she’d had before.

Astrid savored the taste of the tea before glancing toward Lily, who also took a sip of her tea, but the moment the little dragon princess tasted hers, her nose scrunched up a bit.

Noticing this, Astrid blinked in surprise and she watched as Lily reluctantly lowered her cup.

From what she could see, it seemed that the dragon princess didn’t like the tea but she also didn’t want to abandon it, because Hallie had been the one to brew it.

So Lily wanted to try her best to finish it so that Hallie wouldn’t be unhappy.

However, the more she stared at her tea, the more her brows wrinkled in displeasure.

Meanwhile, Hallie noticed this and asked with a worried look on her face. "Your Highness, what is it? Is something wrong?"

"Don’t you like the tea?" Vivian asked as well and Lily nodded her head in response, still staring at the tea in front of her.

"Is it bitter?" Vivian asked again.

"Yes." Lily nodded once again, her gaze still on the tea that she wasn’t interested in drinking anymore, but Vivian chuckled softly before stroking her hair gently.

"Oh, my sweet little dragon. Then why didn’t you say something? Mama would have requested something different for you."

While drinking the tea, Lily had noticed that no one else had complained about how bitter and minty it tasted, so she thought she could also bear with the taste and drink it like everyone else.

But the more she thought about taking another sip, the more her stomach turned with displeasure and this made the little dragon princess reluctant to take another sip of the tea.

"Forgive me, Your Highness, I only added a little bit of honey because that is how Her Majesty likes her tea. So, I thought you would prefer it the same way." Hallie apologized.

"It’s fine, Hallie."

"If you want, I could add more honey to yours." She suggested and the little princess nodded in response with a smile on her face.

"Yes, please."

"As you wish." Hallie happily grabbed Lily’s cup to add more honey to it.

Meanwhile, Astrid watched everything as it unfolded right in front of her but the Frost Demon princess couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

The Dragon Queen’s castle was completely different from how things were done back in her mother’s castle.

Back home, if Astrid disliked something, especially in front of a guest, she would be seen as embarrassing her household, and so, to prevent such a thing from happening, Astrid had to endure it instead.

She’d been taught that complaints were for the weak, so if demons had guests and their children were to ever make a complaint openly in front of other guests, most guests would view the child of such a prestigious household as weak.

It was basic demon nature and culture here in the demon continent, so when Lily expressed her displeasure with the tea’s taste, Astrid had expected Vivian to scold her daughter for embarrassing her in front of her guest.

But instead of doing this, the Dragon Queen had taken her daughter’s displeasure in stride and worked around it like it was something natural for her to do.

Astrid noticed that to the Dragon Queen, Lily’s comfort mattered more to her than forcing her daughter to appear perfect in front of a guest.

Realizing this, Astrid couldn’t help but be amazed by how things were done in the Dragon Queen’s castle, which was completely different from what she was used to in her mom’s castle.

’Is this one of the few things that set the Dragon Queen apart from Mother and all the other Demon Lords on the continent?’Astrid pondered, but she didn’t dwell on such thoughts for too long.

Instead, she continued to watch the mother and daughter duo without even realizing that she was staring at them a bit too much, until Vivian gently addressed her.

"Astrid dear. What about you? How is the tea? If you do not like the taste, we’ll be happy to add honey to yours as well."

Astrid straightened her back automatically when she realized that she had been staring at the duo for a while now. "I-It’s good, Your Majesty."

"Are you sure?" Vivian asked again.

"Y-yes, Your Majesty. I like it."

The tea was called a Tisane tea, and Astrid had tasted it before, so she wasn’t really surprised by the bitter, minty taste.

Moreover, she really didn’t mind how it tasted because it tasted a lot better than any other tisane tea she had drunk before.

The only reason Lily didn’t like it was that the tea wasn’t as sweet as the chocolate tea she was used to drinking before she arrived in the supernatural realm.

Back home, the tea was a lot sweeter than the one here, so Lily had assumed that she would be having chocolate tea with milk and whatnot, when Vivian had suggested the tea party three days ago,

But to her surprise, the tea Vivian had been talking about turned out to be a herbal tea, and it certainly didn’t taste as sweet as any other tea she had drunk until now.

However, the little princess wondered if the tea would taste different with the honey added to it or if it would still taste the same.

And so, Lily waited for Hallie to return with her cup and when she took a sip of her tea, a soft sigh slipped out of her lips as the little princess reclined even more on her seat with a satisfied look on her face.

*Sighs*

"This is better."

Although the tea wasn’t as sweet as the chocolate tea she’d had in the past, right now, the tisane tea tasted better than it had a few minutes ago, and Astrid couldn’t help but smile after noticing the relaxed and happy smile on the dragon princess’s face.

So, the tea party continued with the three ladies smiling and chatting as they began to learn more about each other.

Although Lily was the one who did most of the talking, she told Astrid about how the homecoming party had been the best day of her life.

She even talked about the gifts, the tributes and how she and her mother had danced in the hallway while chanting. "Gifts, gifts, gifts!"

Of course, Astrid found it hard to believe that the Dragon Queen would be hopping and dancing along her own hallway, but she couldn’t help but imagine such a scenario as well.

And when she tried to imagine it, she couldn’t help but giggle at the thought of the queen engaging in a silly dance with her daughter, especially since she heard that the dragon prince had joined them as well, so it became even more funny to imagine all three of them dancing along the hallway while shaking their butts as they chanted "Gifts! Gifts! Gifts!"

She wondered how it would have felt if she had joined them as well.

’Huh?’ 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

’What am I saying?’

’The Gremory Household are my enemies, I should be focused on finding out their weaknesses, rather than wishing to dance around like a silly little girl.’ Astrid reminded herself of her primary objective in the Gremory Household, but deep down, a part of her also wanted to take part in the silly dances as well.

Shaking such thoughts away, Astrid focused on their girl talk.

The trio continued to converse more about various things and Cara would occasionally appear to provide them with new snacks whenever their plates became empty.

Astrid knew about familiars appearing and disappearing whenever they wanted to, just like spirits, so she wasn’t really surprised to see a banshee maid in the Queen’s castle.

But it was certainly her first time seeing a banshee and she couldn’t help but wonder if Vivian had other banshee maids like Cara.

Astrid pondered this, but she swiftly focused on Lily once again when the dragon princess asked her a question.
