Chapter 756

Anton returned to moving slowly inside the northern forest so he could enjoy the winter scenery. He was still extremely grateful for his Diablo System that allowed him to travel inside such a forest carelessly, as if he were flitting through a park, and trying to enjoy the flora and fauna within it. He did not even have to walk. He knew that if he were a mundane person, the journey would have been extremely difficult. The forest was knee deep in snow, and sometimes heavy snowfall would come in unexpectedly.

He tried walking through the snow, and after a few minutes, Anton gave up and started flying again using his Telekinesis spell. Regarding monsters or dangerous animals, he just drove them off using his Ravens and his Spirit Wolves summons from his Druid skill tree. He knew, though, that the main reason why monsters were still a little rare was the nearness of the forest elves’ kingdom.

Another great advantage of having his myriad spells from his Diablo characters was that Anton could have a peaceful rest when it was time for him to sleep, since he had powerful summons that would make sure that he would not be disturbed.

Even though it was in the middle of winter, dressed like a dumpling, and his flight allowed him to move somewhat nimbly between the trees, Anton still discovered a lot of things. Rare plants were growing in some secret places. He even harvested a few of them to give to Rodri, the elf the family hired to make sure that the Rose Manor’s fruit orchards and flower gardens were doing well, to check if the elven gardener could grow them inside the manor’s gardens. Thankfully, he found a simple spell among the hundreds of spells that he purchased that allowed him to detect if a plant was poisonous.

One of the flowers that Anton found looked truly beautiful. Its petals were white, almost translucent, and the smell was intoxicating yet still mild enough that one would not mind smelling it all day. When he harvested it, he made sure not to damage any part of it, and of course, he included the roots. It was growing beside a small spring that Anton was certain was a little magical since it was not frozen, even though the spring was small and shallow. Anton also made sure not to harvest all of the white winter flowers. He only took a couple of them, and when he counted, there were a couple of dozen of them growing beside the pretty spring.

He supposed that he could have investigated the pretty little spring to find out what made it a little magical, but he did not want to destroy it, so he just let it be and moved on with his journey.

Anton found a family of white squirrels that had wings and could turn themselves somewhat invisible. The tiny animals were extremely cute, and based on a quick search on the internet inside his Diablo System, they were called Sugar Gliders, but of course, very different from the ones on Earth. The sugar gliders that Anton found were pure white and would be difficult to see against the snow. The fact that they could turn themselves almost see-through made it doubly hard. The only reason he noticed it was that one of them actually landed on his shoulder while he was snacking on a dried fruit that came from the Rose Manor, and the tiny animal started begging for a share.

He handed the dried fruit to the glider, and soon a bunch of them landed on his arms. Anton theorized that the reason why the small, cute gliders were not afraid of him was that he did not smell of blood, and his aura probably felt like some sort of peaceful floating animal.

Anton had long realized that not smelling like a murderhobo granted him some unexpected encounters within the forest. He knew, though, that once he was truly deep within the forest, it was inevitable that he would have to kill monsters. His forest elf friends told him that there were truly dangerous monsters in the middle of the northern forest.

He retrieved some more dried fruits from his inventory and dispersed them among the cute sugar gliders. When their arms were full, they jumped off from him into a nearby tree, then started eating. Even the way they ate was adorable. Anton would have liked to keep some of them as pets, but he did not know how to take care of them, and there was a chance that they would die if he brought them out of their habitat.

Since it was already late in the afternoon, Anton decided to camp the night among the trees where the magical sugar gliders were staying. He retrieved his new, extremely gorgeous tiny house that the elven carpenter, Darodil, had made for him, and then summoned a couple of Spirit Wolves as guards.

After turning on the Fire Wall stove, Anton removed his outer clothing and started to relax in his soft, comfortable bed. He kept one of the window opened even though it would consume a lot more mana since the stove would have to work much harder to heat up the place. He was expecting something to come inside, and soon, a family of magical sugar gliders glided from their tree and entered Anton’s small house. There were four of the tiny creatures, and they unhesitatingly flew towards his bed and made themselves comfortable there.

Anton could see the glider’s bulging stomachs from the dried fruit that he gave them, and soon, they were sleeping, not minding that they stole Anton’s bed. He just laughed and retrieved a sleeping bag from his inventory and placed it beside his bed.

While lying down, he started levelling up his newly created ladder Warlock, but after around three hours, he stopped to start reading the Medium Array book that he purchased from the elves. After about an hour of studying, he retrieved food from his inventory, and that was when the sugar gliders woke up. They must have smelled the food that Anton had retrieved from his inventory, and then the tiny sugar gliders shamelessly begged him for their share.

He wondered if the sugar gliders ate meat since the potato soup that he retrieved had some in it. Instead of giving some of his soup to the tiny creatures, he took some more dried fruit from his inventory and offered it to them. They took the dried fruit from him, but they still stared at his soup. He offered the soup to the gliders, and they jumped right through the bowl to start eating. The funny part was that the four tiny animals carefully placed the dried fruit Anton gave them in one of his pillows before they started eating the soup. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Anton knew then that the sugar gliders from this forest were probably omnivorous. He joined them for dinner by getting some more soup from his inventory. After they were all done eating, Anton cleaned the gliders and his bed by casting a cleaning spell.

He returned to studying his book, and the sugar gliders just started sleeping again. For a moment, Anton was worried that the magical tiny creatures would start following him. He could not allow them to do that because once a fight started, they might die. He then thought that maybe he could bring them to the manor and let them live in the fruit orchards. With the amount of fruits growing there, they would have all the food they could have.
