Chapter 643

Anton’s spells now contained some of his single-attack spells, like the Lightning, Ice Blast, Ice Bolt, Inferno, and Fire Bolt, but those spells were aimed at the undead that almost reached him and toward the ones battling with wizards and warriors from his side. He wanted to avoid collateral damage. He also summoned his summons and activated his Prayer Aura so that the summons would be more tanky. He had to depend on his mercenary’s equipped Insight Weapon for his Meditation Aura. Even though the said aura was lower than his, it was still enough for Anton to cast his spells nonstop without the need to drink mana or rejuvenation potions.

He still cast his area of attack spells, but further back into the main body of the undead horde. Based on his perception, his attack spells were still being blocked by enemy spellcasters fifty percent of the time, but still, the one that got through caused massive damage to the undead monsters.

Anton and the other mages and warriors on the side of the three kingdoms of Ormunda, New Drennor, and Mendoza kept retreating slowly, but the battle did not end. The spells that were being cast by their side were continuous.

Because of Anton’s unique magical stamina, there were instances in which some of the semi-divine rank liches turned their attention to him, but were stopped by semi-divine wizards from their side. He knew, though, that Anton had entered the perception of some of those semi-divine wizards because of his ability to keep casting spells without rest.

At that time, Anton did not care about anything but the battle in front of him. He wanted to destroy as many undead monsters as he could. Slowly, the line on their side kept retreating to what was assumed to be the road to New Drennor. It almost did not matter because they were still far away from the kingdom of New Drennor.

Anton had heard from those telepath wizards that the current strategy was to create three shifts while they slowly retreated. One shift would continue attacking the undead horde to slow them down a little and to whittle away the main undead armies, and two of the shifts would be resting to renew their spellcasting capabilities. After a fixed amount of time, a signal from the telepath wizards would come to inform them that it was the second shift’s turn. Anton was not part of that shift system since he did not have the need to be replaced.

Hours passed until the sun had set, but the battle continued. Anton had to take a break for a few minutes to eat since he could not survive with just the Vigor Aura alone. If Anton needed a break to answer the call of nature, he would just teleport to the back, and after he was done, he would immediately return to the frontline and continue casting his spells against the undead. He also continued to utilize his Teleport and Telekinesis spells to avoid the spells cast by enemy spellcasters. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Since there was a massive number of enemy spellcasters, there were instances where it was unavoidable for Anton to avoid all the attacks of the enemies, but his physical and magical defense, and his healing abilities were powerful enough to offset any damage that he had received.

Thankfully, the wizards still managed to flood the area with their light spells, so Anton was still able to see the battle details.

There was an extremely dangerous instance wherein an attack from an Invincible Rank lich caught Anton by surprise. He managed to teleport away, but his left arm and left leg were obliterated.

He kept teleporting towards the back until he was far enough away that he was safe among the wizards of the three kingdoms. At first, wizards from their side looked at him in concern, but when they noticed that his arms and legs were regenerating extremely fast, they turned their attention to something or someone else.

Once Anton was fully healed, he teleported back into the front lines and continued casting his spells toward the enemies. He made sure to keep teleporting so he would not be targeted again. Still, he knew that the powerful enemy spellcasters noticed him and kept attacking him. Thankfully, attacks from Supreme Rank spellcasters and below could be ignored by him since his defenses were strong enough to mitigate those spells. The only dangerous attacks that he needed to be mindful of were from those Invincible Rank and above enemy spellcasters.

Thankfully, enemy spellcasters that were in the ranks of Invincible and above were confronted by wizards on their side who had the same rank.

At first, Anton thought that the advantage would be on their side because their armies consisted of people from three kingdoms. He thought that their side would outnumber the Undead Coalition, but ever since Mendoza, their side kept losing.

Anton now had a theory that the main reason why the upper ranks of their side, like the semi-divine and divine beings, did not confront their counterparts from the Undead Coalition was simply because they would lose. Just like what happened in Mendoza. Anton felt that he simply neglected to think that since the Undead Coalition managed to conquer multitudes of kingdoms in Rendindura, their ranks probably had been massively bolstered. It was depressing to think of their situation that way, but one could not deny that the massive number of undead that the Coalition managed to gather to attack the kingdoms of the Gale Continent was worryingly huge to the point that it was almost unending.

Anton put all those disturbing thoughts at the very back of his mind and concentrated on the current situation. His goal was extremely simple. To destroy as many of the undead as he could. The only regret that he had was that he could not tie the deaths of the enemies to his Diablo II system to level up his character.

One could imagine that the never-ending undead horde was like a tsunami, and the wizards and warriors of the three kingdoms were the moving dam that tried to stop the flood but kept getting pushed by the powerful tsunami.

Anton's summons helped act as his tank, and because of his Prayer Aura, they were hardy enough. They would only die if Anton got far enough away for the summons not to be affected by his aura. But then again, Anton would just summon them again.

Soon, the sun rose in the east again, but the attack of the undead army did not stop. Their number kept being bolstered by the incoming undead horde from Mendoza, and because of that, Anton was sure that the Undead Coalition had managed to open a portal from Rendindura to the Gale continent. He also had the theory that all the citizens in Mendoza had been turned into undead. He truly hoped that his previous squad managed to escape.

Anton thought that the possibility that Captain Leonard and the others managed to escape was because they were assigned somewhat far from where the breach in the western wall occurred. If they did escape, he hoped that they would not join this army and simply return to Ormunda. He knew that his previous squad would not be able to survive this battle.

The battle continued nonstop. The mages and warriors of the three kingdoms did not relent and made sure that there was no instance where the defense would stop. Those that were resting and refreshing their spells behind the enemy lines were supported by the supply that came from New Drennor, and once they had rested enough, they would replace those that were attacking the undead.
