My father sold me to the Mafia King-Chapter 156/Attracting attention
Chapter 156
Julie’s Point of View
My mood was bad... very bad. I couldn’t shake the ghost of that dream from my head, and I felt an overwhelming urge to regain control over myself. I finished a grueling training session with Max, then headed to my room.
I stood under the hot water for a long time, and after stepping out, I carefully dried my hair and put on a pink dress that clung to my body. I let my hair fall over my shoulders, applied a touch of makeup that accentuated my green eyes, and finished with high heels that added a boost of confidence to my stature.
I looked at myself in the mirror; I looked beautiful, even ravishing, but was I enough to make Robert notice? I left the room and headed to the office with confident strides, but I found no one. I frowned in confusion.
Where is he? Is he still asleep? I went to his room and knocked lightly, but there was no response. I pushed the door slightly to find the room completely empty and tidy.
In the hallway, I found a guard standing rigidly. "Where is Mr. Robert?" I asked anxiously.
"I don’t know, miss," he replied without looking at me.
I huffed in frustration, then spotted Olivia approaching with her usual strut. She scanned me with a scrutinizing look and said mockingly, "Is there a party you’re attending, Julie?"
"What? What party?" I said coldly.
She looked me up and down, pursing her lips. "All this elegance... is there a reason?"
I returned the gaze sharply. "You’re elegant too. Is there a reason?"
She laughed softly. "I am always elegant, but I’m a bit surprised by you... your clothes are usually so random."
"Are you looking for a fight, Olivia?" I narrowed my eyes.
"No..." she said, stepping toward me threateningly, "I just want to annoy you."
"My mood is sour today," I snapped with a sigh. "I have no patience for your nonsense."
At that moment, with a speed I didn’t expect, she grabbed my arm firmly and pulled me into that suspicious room the one containing nothing but a bed and a mirror mounted on the ceiling.
She slammed the door behind her, pinning my back against the wall so hard I gasped. She pinned my hands above my head, her chest heaving in front of me. "Have you forgotten, Julie, that I told you I would make this club a hell for you?"
"It’s already hell!" I grunted, straining my arm muscles to break free. "What more are you trying to do?"
"To increase your torment," she said venomously.
In a flash, I gathered my strength and shoved both hands into her chest, sending her reeling back in shock. She adjusted herself, a smirk playing on her lips. "Interesting... you’ve gained some strength!"
"Do you think I’ll let you torture me again?" I panted from the adrenaline.
She stepped toward me to slap me, but thanks to Max’s training, I was faster.
I ducked skillfully, grabbed her by the waist, and shoved her hard until we both fell onto the bed. She quickly flipped me over, pinning my shoulders. "Does the little kitten have claws now?"
I didn’t give up.
I resisted and rolled her beneath my weight, pinning her down instead. "Don’t underestimate me, Olivia!" I said, squeezing her wrists.
Finally, I stood up, breathing heavily. I straightened my pink dress and fixed my disheveled hair. "Be certain that I will be a formidable opponent," I said sternly. "And I won’t go easy on you either."
I walked out of the room feeling a rush of power. In the hallway, I ran into Patricia, the makeup artist, and Sam, the hairstylist. I hugged them warmly; despite only meeting them once, I truly liked them.
Sam looked at me in awe. "What a beautiful girl! What happened to you, darling? Why don’t they send us to you to glam you up anymore?"
"Oh, Julie..." Patricia said, touching my cheek gently. "Seeing your face without the bandage... your beauty melts me! You have no idea how much I want to put makeup on this ravishing face."
I laughed from my heart. "I won’t lie, I wish you could come by one day. You were truly talented that time."
"What happened? Tell us," Sam asked curiously.
"I’m no longer a commodity," I said. "Mr. Robert made me his personal assistant."
Patricia gasped, covering her mouth. "Oh! Mr. Robert did that? How romantic!"
"Romantic?!" I asked, bewildered. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"My heart is racing, Julie!" Sam said excitedly, clutching his chest. "That means Mr. Robert wants you all to himself."
Sam and Patricia high-fived, laughing. "Oh... don’t let your imaginations run wild," I said embarrassedly. "That’s not true."
They looked at me with mock disappointment. "You’ve made me sad," Patricia said. "I thought for a moment something romantic was happening in this dark place."
"Patricia, dear... come back to reality," I said with a smile.
"We have to go; we need to get Luna ready," Sam said, waving goodbye.
"Alright... good luck."
I walked down the hallway, still thinking about their words. "Romantic... yeah, very clear," I muttered bitterly.
Suddenly, I spotted Robert and Carlos walking toward me.
Their gait wasn’t usual; anxiety clouded their features, and rage radiated from their eyes with a terrifying clarity. At that moment, memories of last night in Sarah’s room flooded my mind. A chill ran through me. Is he going to hold me accountable now? Will he explode at me in front of Carlos?
Despite my racing heart, I stepped forward. "Good morning."
I noticed a strange confusion in Carlos’s eyes; he averted his gaze quickly as if looking at me was a punishable crime, but he soon returned to stare at me with a scrutinizing, odd look that puzzled me.
Robert stopped in front of me, scanning my pink dress and elegance with a quick, cold glance. "Are you going somewhere?"
"I was going to my room when I didn’t find you," I said, trying to regain my role as an assistant. "But since you’re here... I’ll accompany you to the office."
"No need. I have business today," he replied curtly.
"Fine... as you wish," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral.
Then I turned to Carlos, who was still watching me silently. "How are you, Mr. Carlos?"
"I’m fine, Julie... how are you?" he replied in a low voice.
"You don’t look fine judging by your face," I said honestly, looking at his weary features. "But I’m fine, thank you for asking."
Carlos gave a weak smile. "Have you declared war on me again?"
"When did it ever end?" I smiled defiantly.
"I was deceived then," he said, shaking his head.
"Perhaps," I replied coldly.
Robert cleared his throat loudly to interrupt us. "Fine, that’s enough," he said in a dry, commanding tone. "Julie, you can stay in your room and do not leave it."
I stiffened and protested sharply, "Yesterday you told me to stay in my room, and today the same thing! Are you going back to imprisoning me again? I don’t understand what’s happening!"
Robert took a step closer, his voice dropping to a terrifying hiss as he stared into my eyes. "And do you even listen to my orders, Julie? Have you forgotten where you were last night?"
I felt my tongue tie.
I was completely flustered and didn’t know how to answer; my silence and shifting gaze betrayed me. "I’m going," I said quickly, turning to leave before the situation worsened.
