My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 69: Fear
Caden walked closer and pointed his gun directly between Juliano’s eyes. She wanted to step out of the penthouse, but her legs couldn’t move. She glanced at Lucas and Brie, but they were just quietly looking at the two men. She then looked at Elijah just to see the same reaction.
Is she the only one scared of what was about to happen? Is it normal to just let Caden do whatever he likes? Is it okay to point a gun at someone? She thought inwardly.
Juliano put his palms together and begged. "N-No! Y-Your Highness, I didn’t mean to offend you. I’ll tell you his name, but please let me and my family live."
Caden pushed the tip of the gun against Juliano’s forehead. "Talk! Give me the name!"
She didn’t expect the tone of Caden’s voice. It was demanding and cold, yet dominating. His aura was dark and anyone would fear him just by looking at him. And a bullet of panic rise in Juliano’s throat as Caden’s eyes became filled with darkness.
Juliano kneeled before Caden, brushing his palms against each other, begging for mercy. But she couldn’t see any sympathy from Caden.
"I’ll count to three. If you don’t give me a name, you’re dead." Caden clenched his jaw. "One!"
"No, no, no. Please, I beg you!"
"Two!" Caden shouted.
Her heart was hampering in her chest. She felt suffocated, and a tingling dread crept through her body. She knew Caden would pull the trigger and wouldn’t hesitate to do it.
"Just give him the name! If you want to live, and for your family’s sake, give him the name!" She shouted.
Caden threw a warning glare at her, and it went through her like a blast of ice. She could hear the slow, dragging beat of her heart as she bit her lip and couldn’t stare at Caden’s eyes.
Juliano looked at her with fear in his eyes. She nodded at him. Her eyes begging to do what Caden had asked him. Juliano then turned to Caden, shaking.
"Michael Cerro." Juliano quickly closed his eyes, as if waiting for Caden to shoot.
Caden let out a chuckle. "Cerro. That bastard!"
He gave a thin smile as he removed the gun from Juliano’s face. Then he slapped his cheek twice, startling her again.
"Thank that my wife is here or else you’re still dead."
Juliano’s body was wobbling, his knees shaking. He couldn’t move and stand up from the floor. She thought everything was over, but when Caden sat beside her, Rock and two other men brought two blindfolded women inside.
"Caden?" She called, but he didn’t look at her.
The women looked scared and confused. She noticed their hands were also tied so they couldn’t remove their blindfolds.
"Dr. Mary Watkins of Blue Horizon. It’s an honor to finally meet you." Caden started with his cold tone.
"W-Who are you? Why did you bring us here?"
"I don’t remember giving you permission to ask. But I’ll let you off this time. Now, doctor, you’re here because of a research you did when you were with Blue Horizon. Any idea, what it is?"
The doctor shook her head. "I-I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m not that doctor."
Caden let out a sharp breath. He waved his right hand, and then Rock stepped closer to the woman beside Mary. It was Veronica St. Clair. Rock grabbed her by the shoulder, forcing her to stand up.
"Let me go! Who the fuck are you?" Veronica shouted.
Alira felt a tremor of fear go up her spine when Rock took out a knife, putting it on Veronica’s neck.
"Yell again and I will make sure your blood will scream next." Rock said in a haughty tone.
Veronica’s heart began to beat wildly, and a stifling wave of fear swept over her.
"Dr. Watkins, Veronica’s life is in your hands. Tell me about the memory serum. Where did you sell the research? Who is funding you to continue producing it? If you don’t talk, you will hear Veronica’s scream every minute." Caden said without remorse.
Alira bit her lip as she listened to Caden’s words. She wanted to make him stop, but just hearing his voice made her throat closed up in terror.
"W-Why would I listen to you? A-And I don’t care about that bitch? S-She had no-"
A bloodcurdling scream, followed by a painful cry, stopped Mary Watkins from talking. She couldn’t see what was happening because of the black cloth covering her eyes. But the terrified voice of Veronica was enough to make her cower in fear.
Alira couldn’t move as she stared at Veronica. Rock stab the woman’s left shoulder and blood spilled over the floor. She hated Veronica because she was eyeing on Caden. But hurting an innocent woman was a different matter.
"Please, just tell them what you know. I’m begging you." Veronica cried in pain.
"I-I can’t. I’ll be dead if I talk."
Another hysterical scream echoed in the penthouse when Rock twisted the knife, piercing Veronica’s shoulder.
"By the way, if you don’t talk with Veronica as the hostage, we might need to get another one. Maybe your daughter? Mary Angeline Watkins, a tenth-grade student in Green Acres High School." Caden smirked.
Then he took a phone from Elijah and a girl’s voice answered the call.
"Hello? Who is this?"
Mary felt a terrible anxiety creeping over her when she heard her daughter’s voice. A man was heard in the background talking to the girl.
"My mom? She asked you to pick me up?"
Mary panicked. "No! No! My baby, no! Don’t come!"
Caden ended the call. "Now, doctor. Will you let Veronica and your daughter bleed to death before you talk?"
"Why are you doing this to me? If you want something from her, why do you need to bring me here? I don’t know you." Veronica cried.
Alira was also wondering why Veronica was there and wanted to know Caden’s reason for torturing the woman.
Caden laughed. "I bet you know me. This isn’t the first time we met. You know me very well, Veronica. Or should I say, Victoria Forelli?"
