(Karsten)

The meeting with Hawksten, the company responsible for providing us with wool, took longer than anticipated.

Like my usual self, I wasn't truly focused; my thoughts kept drifting to the woman I had left in my office.

I was looking for a particular secretary and there were a few ulterior motives as to whom I would choose. When Arata walked into my office I knew she would be a perfect choice.

Fate worked in mysterious ways.

She was no doormat, her gaze held challenges and mischief. It was going to be entertaining to unfold different aspects of her personality. The purposely put forward rules were to see how she reacted. She didn't act outrageously or too passively. I didn't need a robot nor was she going to be one.

I offered her easy tasks because my mind had already made up about her.

"I will not tolerate any compromise on the quality; ensure that we receive the premium wool or your contract will be terminated. This is your last chance," I informed their product manager while getting up and adjourning the meeting.

My production and quality team did the same; they hadn't been very excited about the wool quality in the past month, so I had to take stern action.

"You will not have a complaint again. I apologise for last month's wool." Their product manager had some colour returning to his ashen face. He had been on tenterhooks the whole duration of the meeting.

Giving him a brisk nod, I walked out of the meeting room. My Chief operating officer (COO) Ranold Whittle, who also happened to be my very close friend, followed hot on my heels.

He was much younger than me, but his brilliant mind had accelerated his promotion, and I valued his feedback.

"So, how is she? Is she the one?" He shot out, playfulness dripping from his words as he fell in step with me.

I understood why he was asking this particular question but I was in no mood to entertain him.

"Maybe, we will see," I kept the answer short and loosened the tie, I hated the damn thing; it was only good for tying women up before I fucked them. Their exhilarating moans and struggling hands turned me on.

"Poor soul, I will offer a prayer for the little thing when I visit the church this Sunday," he snickered, annoying me.

My head swivelled and I shot him a deadly look. He raised his hands in defence but his eyes danced in mischief. Turning left, he headed for his office.

I took the elevator up to my executive floor, only a few people were allowed there. My bodyguard, Oliph, followed me and swiped his hand over the sensor.

As the elevator dinged, I stepped out with Oliph behind me. Miranda was impatiently waiting, pacing the marble floor. There were wrinkles on her forehead which she tried to hide as soon as her eyes fell on me.

"Sir?" She respectfully stated, but it felt like a question as if she wished for me to elaborate.

"...Yes!" I continued to walk and she trotted beside me. I trusted Miranda and her judgement, she had been with me since the beginning.

She hesitated. "....The new girl...."

"What about her?" I asked, hiding any interest that might slip from my mouth.

"Has she been hired? I haven't seen her..." she spoke, weighing her words carefully.

I kept my gait quick and my left hand in my pants pocket as we arrived outside my office, I turned and impassively faced her.

"She is in my office and will be sent your way soon. Show her around and ensure she learns every aspect of her position," I paused and she blinked in understanding.

"Have patience, I expect you to teach her well. Any blunders on her part and you will be held accountable too."

Her mouth widened as the shock of my words registered with her. Without waiting for her response, I pushed open the door and entered my office, leaving Miranda and Oliph there.

The door clicked shut behind me as I searched for Arata but couldn't locate her.

My chair was turned towards the window. Taking quick steps, I approached it and peeked with my head leaning forward. To my utter amusement, Arata was sound asleep in it as if she had no care in the world.

Her wide-rimmed glasses, which were 100 per cent fake, had slipped down. There was no indentation on her nose which people who wore glasses usually had,

I stood there for a minute unable to believe my eyes on how she fell asleep while trying to acquire a job.

Annoyed and amused, two very conflicting emotions she had conjured from me.

Don't people get super nervous, especially around someone like me?

Her hair had the same shade as mine, but it wasn't natural; she had either dyed it or was wearing a wig. A few strands had loosened from the professional bun, she had created and scattered on her sleeping face like smoky tendrils which contrasted against her skin. Her supple lips, which seemed like she had just kissed cherries, were slightly parted. The urge to pull the wandering streaks of her hair away from her face was there but I never touched women without their consent.

Her ample chest rose and fell, she was curvy in all the right places.

Shaking my head I pulled out my phone. I had cameras installed in my office, it would be interesting to see her reactions to my contract and what made her feel so relaxed that she fell asleep.

Was she sleep-deprived?

Without waking her up, I pulled out the footage from the camera and began to observe what she had been up to in my absence.

Of course, she occupied my seat as I left the office. I had anticipated her to do that, and wouldn't expect anything less.

I could see all her snorts and roll of her eyes while reading my rules. I had to purse my lips when she jumped up from her seat while reading the last of her duties and dropped the file in the process.

I knew that would tick her off. Surprisingly she took it well, pondered for a few minutes and then took my favourite pen and signed the contract.

An ease settled in my heart, an ease of satisfaction.

She was going to belong to me and I could finally have peace from my family. They needed me to find a woman and there she was, sleeping in my chair. I knew she would be more than perfect.

She didn't take much time to ponder over before signing the papers, revealing she was on board with the plan.

Finally, she relaxed in my chair. Turning it around, she obscured the camera view and must have drifted off, for I didn't see any movement after that.

I wondered what amount she put down. Closing the camera footage, I picked up the file and quietly turned the pages to where she had penned the amount.

A subtle smile appeared on my face seeing it. She hadn't disappointed by offering herself cheap and I loved the fact.

It was time to wake her up and relish in the facial expressions she was going to offer as I hovered near her.

I silently approached her sleeping figure again and firmly said.

"Miss Arata!"
