Chapter 11: Fake Girlfriend

(Arata)

I read further while swinging his chair left and right.

Duties included:

1. Make travel arrangements and travel with him to other cities and countries.

2. Attend meetings with him and jot down notes.

3. Make lunch reservations for him and his guests.

4. Act according to his mood. (Yeah! What was I? His mood monitor?)

5. Fetch his attire from dry cleaners and help him with his tie. (What was this duty with his tie? Couldn't the man tie it himself?)

6. Prepare his health smoothie and bring it to him after his workout session. (Right? Will he be shirtless?)

7. Accompany him at family events and parties and pose as his girlfriend when required. All the expenses are to be covered by the company. Clothes and other accessories will be chosen by Mr Karsten.

(I can bet he is fun at parties. Wait!!! What?)

I jumped out of his seat, my heart also jumping into my mouth. The file dropped on the floor with a small thud.

"....."

He wanted me to act like what?

Was this some kind of joke or was he being serious?

The more I thought the more confusing the thought became. Wasn't this what I wanted, to have a powerful man at my arm to make Andy jealous?

This seemed like an opportunity but it seemed slightly strange too. Of all the girls he could choose from why did he choose me?

Bending down, I picked up the file and read the line again, which had been penned down so casually.

So Mr Ice didn't have a girlfriend. From what I remembered from the interviews the man was 34 years old and was never in a relationship whenever asked by reporters and media.

Did he frighten the women away by his bossy attitude? It wouldn't be surprising. I shrugged my shoulders.

Seemed like his family must be breathing down his neck to find someone and he wished to trick them by using me. I guess we both had hidden agendas.

Could there be something in his experience with women which made him not pursue a relationship with them?

He didn't seem misogynistic nor did I pick up such a vibe from him. He was cold and closed off, a man of many words who liked to mind his own business and expected the people to do the same, especially those under him. That's what I picked up so far.

But he should have spoken to me about it, instead of just putting in the contract like that.

Was he afraid I would say no to his face?

Is that why he chose a coward's way.

I snickered with that thought.

I sat back down and thought for a while with my fingers drumming my temple, right where that scar existed.

Did I want to do this?

Hell, yes.

Was I used to taking orders like that?

No.

But I had a point to prove and this was an opportunity worth not passing over. It was going to push my limits and that's what I found challenging. I needed a challenge.

Submerging myself to read further I went through the company policy and more rules related to company secrets and non-disclosure agreements.

Finally, I reached the point of my salary. Wishing to see how generous Mr Cold was. To my surprise that place had been left blank with a small note.

{Fill it up according to your expectations.}

A mischievous smile took root on my lips, reading that.

I looked around his desk and my eyes landed on a pen holder of Itachi from the anime Naruto. My parents were obsessed with that anime and mom always called Dad, Kakashi, another one of the characters in that anime.

It seemed Mr Frost was an avid fan as well, but then all men worshipped Itachi; it was no secret.

Grabbing the elegant pen that rested in Itachi's hands I opened it to reveal a sharp silver nib. It was a limited edition one, all fancy and stylish.

"Let's see how generous you are," I muttered while putting down an amount with an extra zero just to vex him.

If he wanted me to act as his girlfriend as well, I needed to be paid extra. Let's see how desperately he wanted a fake girlfriend.

I then went on to sign the papers in all the places which needed my signature. Returning his pen to its rightful place I closed the file.

My eyes wavered to inspect his desk again just to kill the free time. Everything was immaculately placed, he seemed like a neat freak, a bit like me. I had this inherent trait from my father. My gaze went around his office and there was a whole bar of expensive liquor.

Leaning back in the chair I relaxed and turned it to stare outside the window for a while. It seemed like a one-way mirror and I could see the heart of this city from up here.

The concrete monuments we kept building, it was suffocating.

I stifled a yawn, I had hardly slept the night thanks to the thirst trap Stella had introduced me to. Thinking about him put a smile on my face and I couldn't wait to get home and watch his latest video.

I wondered for a while who that man must be in real life.

Could be a renowned celebrity, hiding behind a mask or helmet so his identity remains a secret.

Might be a random man who loved to show off his body because he spent hours in the gym.

Anyway, he was entertaining to watch, and I had no plans to stop. I was a free girl now and I was going to enjoy my life to the fullest.

The comfy leather chair began to make me drowsy and I struggled to keep my eyes open. Maybe I could take a ten-minute nap. I would wake up before he would arrive. I hardly closed my eyes and the sleep took me.
