My Bugged System Made Me Too OP!-Chapter 63: Storage Space[2]
He slowly lifted his hand and, almost instinctively, focused on the palm of his hand.
At first, nothing happened. But then—a small tear began to form on the surface of his skin.
It was subtle at first, just a thin line appearing as if the air itself had been split.
Its color was a dark gray, almost like the shade of wet stone, and it carried a faint shimmer, like a reflection of some unseen light.
It didn’t look like a cut or a burn, since there was no blood or even a flesh opening.
Yet, the strange appearance of it made him stop breathing for a moment.
He instinctively pulled his hand back, startled. ’What... is this?’
But at the end of the day, his curiosity overpowered caution, and Noah leaned forward, peering into the tear.
The gray darkness of the tear shifted, swirling for a second, before opening into a vast, open space within his vision.
He gasped, surprise by what appeared before him.
The space stretched far beyond his comprehension, a gray room that seemed to extend in every direction.
Its floor and walls were of the same muted gray, but the sheer scale was breathtaking.
It was slightly larger than his bedroom, which already made it massive in his mind.
The ceiling hovered high above, just out of reach, giving the impression that this room could contain almost anything.
’So I can store anything I want... in this gray room?’ he thought, his pulse quickening.
He exhaled slowly, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He could finally keep materials he collected from mana beasts without worrying about space.
At that moment, a system tab appeared floating in front of him.
[System Storage Space: A space where you can store whatever you want, except for living things. Note: this space will increase in size as you grow stronger.]
Noah nodded slowly as he read the description.
’This is awesome... really awesome.’ He flexed his fingers, staring at the small dark gray tear again. ’So its only this size because I’m not strong enough yet...
His thoughts drifted forward. ’As I grow stronger... this could reach the size of a mansion someday... maybe even bigger!’
He clenched his fists, then opened them. He did it out of pure curiosity, trying to test what would happen to the storage space on it.
However, the dark gray tear remained there, pulsing softly like it was alive.
A slight smile spread on his lips at the sight of this.
The best part was that he didn’t feel the slightest tug or drain on his mana as the space hovered open before him.
It was purely a feature of the system, fully maintained by its own mechanics, independent of his magical reserves.
’This system... it never ceases to amaze me,’ he thought, shaking his head in admiration. Every time it revealed a new feature, he was left in awe like a baby seeing something new for the first time.
He rose from his bed, his eyes still fixed on the tear as he walked to the bag that contained the mana beast’s corpse and cores.
He paused beside it, crouching slightly, and let his hand hover over the surface.
"’But how exactly does this work...?" he wondered aloud, stretching his fingers toward the bag.
The moment he consciously thought about storing it inside the system storage space, the bag quivered as if acknowledging his will.
Then, with a subtle pull, it was sucked into the dark gray tear on his palm, vanishing from sight.
Noah gasped, his eyes widening in amazement. He slowly raised his hand higher, staring at the tear that now swirled faintly with gray energy.
The gray room opened in his vision once more, vast and serene.
His eyes scanned the space, and there it was: the bag, sitting neatly in the middle of the room, exactly where he had imagined it would appear.
He couldn’t help but smirk again.
’It’s really easy to use,’ he thought, flexing his fingers slightly as he reached into the space.
The bag obeyed his mental commands perfectly, responding instantaneously to his thoughts.
He imagined it in the corner of the room, and in the blink of an eye, it vanished from the middle and reappeared where he had directed.
"Nice... really nice..." Noah murmured, leaning back slightly and letting out a small laugh.
The simplicity of the system made it feel almost like an extension of his own body. He could store items, move them, or retrieve them with mere thought.
Then, something caught his eye. He noticed the bag wasn’t as full as he remembered.
His brows narrowed, a confused expression appearing on his face.
He leaned forward, scanning the corners and floor of the gray room, but the missing contents weren’t there.
At the moment, he started to feel some unease, wondering whether some of the contents of the bag had been destroyed when he moved them into the space.
His gaze shifted downward, toward the spot under the table where the bag had originally been before he stored it.
And there, resting innocently on the floor, was the smooth black egg.
’The egg wasn’t sucked in along with the bag?’ he thought, his eyes widened slightly.
He crouched towards the egg, gently placing a hand on its surface.
’I get it now... the space can only be used to store non-living things or objects basically.’ he thought, gently rubbing the smooth surface of the head, like one would a dog.
’The egg is a living thing... so it can’t be stored in the space.’ he thought, exhaling softly.
If he was being honest with himself, he had actually been careless.
After all, he should have first confirmed the contents of the bag and then removed the egg before putting it in the storage space.
He was lucky the egg was simply rejected from the space and didn’t get destroyed the moment he tried putting it in.
His eyes narrowed and he glanced at the egg again, realising something.
’Am I actually... starting to care for this egg?’ he thought.
