My Anti-hero Fairy System-Chapter 74. Hoyt’s Diner
Cara leaned back against the desk, arms crossed, watching his world unraveling with satisfaction. Jackie, however, remained still, her expression unreadable.
"This is fake!" Rudy finally exploded. "I don’t give a damn what those papers say! This is my fucking diner!"
Jackie let out a slow breath, then took a step toward him, her voice unwavering. "Get it through your thick skull, conman. This was never your diner. And as soon as you leave, I’ll be tearing down that sign outside and replacing it with Hoyt’s Diner. Then, I’ll be hiring the best lawyer I can find to sue you for every penny you’ve stolen from this place."
Rudy’s jaw tightened, his hands balling into fists. "You bitch. I’ll ruin you in this town." He turned sharply toward the officers. "What the hell are you waiting for? Get her out of here. Both her and my stepdaughter."
Officer Voight exchanged a glance with Sheriff Hader before shaking his head. "Sorry, sir. We can’t do that."
Rudy’s frustration boiled over. "You—"
Before he could finish, Hader cut in, his voice firm. "No, you need to leave. Right now. And I suggest you call your lawyer while you’re at it."
Rudy clenched his jaw, seething. His gaze darted toward Cara, who was watching him with open amusement. That smug smile of hers sent him over the edge.
"You," he spat, his voice dripping with venom. "You did this."
Cara tilted her head innocently. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, Rudy. What did I do?"
Rudy’s face contorted with rage. "Is this what you crawled back from the dead for? To be a thorn in my side? First, you slept with Lucrecia, and now you’ve screwed Jackie and convinced her she owns this place. You have no idea what you’ve started." His voice dropped into a cold promise. "You are going to pay for this."
Before Cara could respond, Voight and Hader took Rudy by the arms, escorting him out of the diner. The entire staff watched in stunned silence as their so-called boss, their mayor, was thrown out of the very establishment he had claimed to own.
As soon as the doors swung shut behind him, Jackie turned to face her employees. Their eyes were wide, their hushed whispers filling the space.
"Alright, everyone," she said, her voice steady but firm. "I know you all just witnessed that, and I’m sure you have questions. Let me clear things up. I am the rightful owner of this establishment. Rudy Wesley is nothing but a thief who spent years lying to me, you and everyone, claiming my father never paid off his debt." She lifted the stack of documents in her hand. "These prove otherwise."
A collective gasp rippled through the room, followed by murmurs of disbelief.
Jackie continued, her gaze sweeping over them. "Before the day is over, I will be removing the Wesley Diner sign and replacing it with the name it should have had all along, Hoyt’s Diner." She let the words settle before moving on.
"I know you’re wondering what happens next. Some things will change, but others will stay the same. For now, we’re closing early today. I want everyone to help rearrange the diner back to how it was when you all arrived here this morning because no meeting will be held here today. After that, go home. Come back tomorrow morning, fresh and ready to work." She gave them a small, reassuring smile. "See you all then."
The employees exchanged glances, still absorbing everything, but there was no pushback. Just the weight of a long-overdue truth settling over the room.
[You fucking did it, Cara. You accomplished your mission and still helped out this woman,] Hagrit said, with an excited voice.
’And it was very satisfying. I do feel good about this.’

’Ok, I will wait.’
[Have you thought of where to stay?]
’Why do you ask?’
[You literally exposed Rudy’s deceit. He knows what you did, do you think he would welcome you with both hands in his house?]
’Rudy won’t do shit, he still wants to keep Arlene in his arms, and that will stop him from kicking me out of the house.’
[Are you sure about that?]
’Just watch and see.’ 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Jackie turned, catching Cara’s amused expression. She arched her brow. "Cara. My office. Now."
Cara smirked. "Yes, boss."
Jackie shook her head, but the smallest of smiles tugged at her lips.
As soon as they stepped into her office, Cara closed the door behind them. "So?" she asked, leaning casually against the desk. "How does it feel to finally be the boss?"
Jackie exhaled deeply, sinking into her chair. She ran her hands over the smooth surface of the desk—her desk.
"It feels... liberating," she admitted. "I’m no longer under that bastard’s thumb. I’m free. But his hell is just beginning." She looked up, her eyes dark with determination. "I’m going to take back everything he stole from me. And I’ll make a public spectacle out of it."
Cara grinned. "That’s the spirit. And I’ll be right there with you—helping every step of the way."
Jackie’s expression softened for a brief moment before something flickered in her eyes. Her posture straightened slightly.
"I need to ask you something," she said, her voice quieter now, but no less serious.
Cara nodded, sensing where this was going. "Go on."
Jackie studied her carefully. "Did you really sleep with Lucrecia?"
