My Accidental Harem-Chapter 201
Chapter 201: Chapter 201
Kevin’s palm soon became sweaty from excitement and nervousness, feeling sticky. He was embarrassed, fearing Mia might feel disgusted. He wanted to let go but couldn’t. Just as he was conflicted, Mia smiled and said, "Tired? Let’s switch hands."
She moved to Kevin’s other side, extending her delicate hand and intertwining her fingers with his. The new position felt more natural and comfortable.
"Mrs. Wilson, how many boyfriends did you have in college?" Kevin asked, feeling a pang of jealousy at the thought of Mia holding other men’s hands like this. freewёbnoνel.com
"Are you trying to find out about my private life?" Mia said, slightly annoyed but still smiling. "I had three boyfriends. The first two didn’t last long and the third was my husband. Does that bother you?"
Kevin felt uncomfortable hearing this. In his mind, Mia should have been pure and untouched. But then he remembered he had been with Camila, Evelyn Allen, and even Vanessa Wood. It wasn’t his place to judge.
Considering Mia’s beauty, it was impressive that she had only three boyfriends. "Mrs. Wilson, do you still love your husband?" Kevin asked softly.
Mia was taken aback. Kevin’s question was simple but piercing. If she didn’t love her husband, why did she date, marry him, and accept his offer to move to this small town? What was keeping her in a long-distance relationship?
But if she did love her husband, why did she have feelings for Kevin? She knew it was wrong but maintained an ambiguous relationship with him, unlike her clear boundaries with Quentin Rodriguez. Did this mean she was fickle or had her feelings for her husband faded?
Seeing Mia’s silence, Kevin regretted asking such a mood-killing question. He genuinely wanted to know if she still had feelings for her husband. Mia was different from Camila. Camila, in her thirties with a grown son, wouldn’t consider divorce easily. She’d rather risk an affair with Kevin to satisfy her desires. But Mia, not yet thirty and childless, could divorce and start anew if things didn’t work out with her husband. Instead, she was wasting her prime years in a stagnant relationship. Even if Mia divorced her husband, she couldn’t choose Kevin. The age gap was too big, and Kevin was just a high school student far from being able to support a family or be a husband. Kevin knew this and never expected to end up with Mia. He just wanted her to be happier and not as miserable as she was now, constantly harassed by people like Quentin Rodriguez.
Kevin glanced at Mia and saw a fleeting look of confusion and helplessness in her eyes. He couldn’t help but hold her hand tighter, feeling a surge of determination. No matter how their relationship developed, he resolved to stay by her side through this tough time.
Kevin’s question stirred up Mia’s inner turmoil and anxiety. Since dating, she had felt a divergence in values with her husband, Carl Johnson. She loved teaching and wanted a stable job as a teacher and a simple life.
However, her husband always aspired for greatness and for success. In college, he was ambitious, often organizing activities and starting businesses. Mia was initially attracted to his drive and accepted his pursuit because he seemed different from the aimless students around them.
However, after they got together, she gradually found her husband to be impatient and reckless. He dreamed of overnight success. So, he started a company with friends, only to fail miserably and lose all their savings. While other classmates found stable jobs, her husband felt ashamed and returned home, only to think that their city lacked opportunities. Encouraged by friends, he went to the South to seek fortune. Mia had serious talks with him, hoping he would return and find a steady job so they could live a happy life together without unrealistic dreams of sudden wealth. But Carl, enchanted by the bustling city, refused to live a mundane life. Their discussions always ended in fierce arguments, with him accusing her of being shortsighted and unsupportive.
Mia felt deeply wronged. She had found a good teaching job with the help of relatives but had to quit and follow her husband back home at his insistence. Despite this, she had no regrets, believing that as long as they were happy together, location didn’t matter.
But her husband’s baseless accusations hurt her deeply. She only wanted a normal life. Was that too much to ask?
Mia had considered quitting to join her husband in his ventures, but he disagreed, saying the city’s high costs and his current poverty made it impractical. He couldn’t afford to support her and didn’t want the distraction of caring for her. Plus, her stable teaching job was a fallback in case his ventures failed.
Mia had no choice but to accept his arrangement and stay alone. She didn’t know that Carl’s real reason for keeping her away was selfishness. He feared that in a prosperous city, she might leave him for someone better since she was so stunning.
Mia felt deeply conflicted. She wanted her husband by her side but was rejected whenever she offered to join him. She didn’t know how long this situation would last. Occasionally, thoughts of divorce crossed her mind, but memories of their five to six years together held her back. She didn’t want to give up on the relationship easily. With a sigh, Mia resigned herself to her lonely life. With her husband absent, her parents far away, and few close friends at school besides Camila, weekends and holidays were especially lonely for her, especially when she saw other families enjoying outings.
As she wallowed in self-pity, Kevin’s firm grip on her hand brought her back. She looked up to see his concerned gaze, which warmed her heart. Grateful for his presence, she squeezed his hand back and leaned her delicate body against his shoulder. At that moment, she forgot she was a married woman. She just wanted Kevin’s warm embrace.
Feeling Mia’s soft body against his shoulder, Kevin’s mind went blank. He couldn’t understand why she suddenly became so intimate. Mia’s moods were unpredictable, like the weather. He wanted to hug her but feared she might get angry. He had already gained so much today and didn’t want to push his luck.
However, he misunderstood. Women often say one thing but mean another. Mia leaned on Kevin’s shoulder for a few seconds before standing up straight, casting a reproachful glance at him. She seemed to blame him for not understanding her need for a hug. Though she wanted to maintain a platonic relationship, in her moment of vulnerability, she hoped Kevin would embrace her. She couldn’t bring herself to take the initiative.
"Let’s go upstairs." Mia suddenly smiled, realizing she was being unreasonable. Kevin couldn’t read her mind. He was already doing well for his age. In high school, boys only expressed love through flowers and letters, but none were as considerate as Kevin. No wonder even the strict Camila had fallen for him. Mia wondered if Camila remained serious even while sleeping with Kevin. The thought made her smile, and she decided she would have to interrogate Camila someday. Kevin was baffled by Mia’s sudden smile. Women, he thought, were as unpredictable as his neighbor’s cat. When you wanted to play with it, it would ignore you, but when you ignored it, it would come and tease you. Especially beautiful women—they were a whole different level of unpredictability.
The second floor of the supermarket was filled with high-end women’s products. Mia dragged Kevin to a branded high-heeled shoe counter. Her last pair of heels had broken, and even though she had them repaired, she didn’t feel confident wearing them. She wanted a new pair as a backup.
A sales assistant greeted them warmly. "How can I help you? Looking for high heels, mid heels, or low heels?"
"Mid-heels." Mia replied. She was already tall, and high heels would make her as tall as Kevin. Mid-heels seemed just right and were less likely to break.
"Right this way." the sales assistant smiled and led Mia to a row of shoe cabinets. "These are all mid-heels. Feel free to look around, and let me know if you want to try any on."
Kevin trailed behind Mia, listening to the sales assistant and staring at the array of high heels. He felt out of his element. He usually hung out in arcades or video stores with Mike Adams, not places like this. He had no idea there were so many types of high heels—white, red, black, gold, and more—in various shapes like pointed, round, square, and even peep-toe. The heels themselves came in stiletto, wedge, and block styles.
He marveled at how profitable the women’s market was. Even a simple pair of high heels had so many variations, not to mention coats, skirts, lingerie, handbags, and cosmetics.
Mia picked a pair of white lace cutout heels and told the sales assistant her size. She sat on a nearby bench, crossed her legs, and took off her sneakers and white cotton socks, revealing delicate, fair feet. Kevin felt a sudden urge to kiss her toes and gulped. He wondered when he might get the chance to touch her sexy feet. His eyes traced up her legs to her firm thighs, slender waist, round hips, and finally to her ample breasts. Each part of her body exuded the allure of a mature woman. He longed to conquer her body as he had with Camila, but he knew these areas were currently off-limits.
