Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 594: If You Can’t Stand Her, Just Deal with Her
Seraphina Vaughn casually said, "Young lady, you can’t just make baseless accusations. Our Vaughn Family’s livelihood depends on the casino. You’re damaging our reputation and ruining our livelihood; I can sue you, you know?"
Grace Sue was always someone who caused trouble without regard for appropriateness or target. Puffing and glaring, she pointed at Seraphina Vaughn and Audrey Sutton, saying, "Sue me? You two are colluding to cheat, and you want to sue me?! Do you really think I’m easy to bully?"
Grace Sue’s voice wasn’t small, and with her outburst, not only did several chatting men nearby look over, but some others, unaware of the situation, also gathered around to watch the commotion.
Bryce Sue immediately stood up, frowning, to restrain his sister, "Grace, stop making a scene."
But Grace Sue, feeling emboldened with her brother backing her up, became even more brazen, "Brother, they’re teaming up to bully me! I can’t swallow this!"
Seraphina Vaughn leisurely smiled and said, "Miss Sue really has a temper to match her voice. We were just playing cards to pass the time, winning and losing at most a few hundred bucks, and just because you lost, you accuse me of cheating? The Vaughn Family conducts itself discreetly and prefers not to make enemies, but we can’t let you drag our name through the mud!"
Grace Sue pointed at Seraphina Vaughn, seemingly with a lot more to say, but was shielded behind Bryce Sue.
Bryce Sue urgently stepped forward to apologize, "Ms. Vaughn, please don’t hold a grudge against her childish behavior. I’ve known Mr. Vaughn for years; the Vaughn Family always acts with integrity and surely wouldn’t tarnish their name by pulling stunts while playing with kids. My sister was just speaking without thinking; please don’t take it to heart."
Hearing this, Grace Sue became anxious and continued shouting, "I said she cheated, so she did!"
Bryce Sue frowned and shouted sternly, "Enough!"
Bryce gave a subtle signal to the family butler, who immediately came over and took Grace away.
Clarissa Morgan just remained seated, watching the commotion unfold, uninvolved.
Although she was aware that Seraphina Vaughn must have meddled with the cards, she naturally wouldn’t act as rashly as Grace Sue.
With Grace taken away, Seraphina Vaughn ignored Bryce’s apology and pressed on, "With so many people watching, she accused me of cheating? What of our family’s reputation? Have her come back and clear this up!"
Bryce Sue displayed the demeanor of a family head, "Ms. Vaughn, please calm down. My sister is inherently stubborn; I’ll discipline her properly later. We’ll visit personally another day to apologize."
Seraphina Vaughn then turned to Clarissa Morgan and directly asked in front of everyone, "Mrs. Sterling, you were here playing cards with us just now, please give your judgment."
Clarissa Morgan smiled warmly and said, "Ms. Vaughn surely wouldn’t do such a thing. We were just playing for fun, winning and losing little. Grace is just being childish, please don’t take offense, Ms. Vaughn."
Seraphina Vaughn replied, "Mrs. Sterling sees the big picture, no wonder Brother Sterling is so fond of you."
Clarissa Morgan smiled without speaking, though a multitude of small thoughts surged within her eyes for a brief moment.
The commotion came to an end under Bryce Sue’s proper handling, and Seraphina Vaughn, appearing magnanimous, said she forgave Grace Sue, then asked Clarissa Morgan, "Shall we continue?"
Clarissa Morgan replied with a soft smile, "I don’t think so; I’m not very good at this. How much was the difference earlier? I’ll transfer it to Audrey."
Audrey Sutton generously said, "Sister Morgan, there’s no need to be so formal. What’s our relationship anyway? No need to bother about such a small amount of money."
Seraphina Vaughn chimed in, "Exactly, Miss Morgan helped me clear things up earlier; I should be thanking you. I haven’t interacted much with Miss Morgan before, but today I see you’re wise and perceptive. I enjoy making friends with clever people like you. It’s our lucky day today; how about we share a drink?"
Such self-initiated relationships were usually initiated by Clarissa Morgan herself, but with Seraphina Vaughn taking the lead, Clarissa Morgan felt a bit awkward.
Seraphina Vaughn waved down a passing waiter, "Could you please bring us two glasses of wine? Does Miss Morgan prefer red wine or champagne?"
Clarissa Morgan glanced at Seraphina Vaughn before answering, "Red wine, thank you."
"One glass of red wine, one glass of champagne, and a glass of room-temperature orange juice, please."
Audrey Sutton didn’t know what Seraphina Vaughn was plotting, but she felt Seraphina’s current behavior was something Clarissa Morgan would normally do.
Pretending to be friendly and then scheming behind your back.
Audrey Sutton just munched on sunflower seeds, watching the scene unfold, when Shane Warner leaned over and softly chided her, "Don’t eat too much of those; they’re heat-inducing."
Audrey Sutton looked at him, feeling a bit parched from eating, lazily handing the remaining handful of sunflower seeds to Shane Warner, who rolled his eyes, opened his hand to catch them, and then placed them on the table.
Observing this scene, Clarissa Morgan’s eyes held a trace of jealousy not easily noticed by others.
A lighthearted piano tune from Clarissa Morgan’s phone brought her back from her thoughts. She glanced at her phone and stood up to say to Seraphina Vaughn and Audrey Sutton, "Excuse me, I have a call to take."
Seraphina Vaughn nodded, "Alright, alright, go ahead. Please come back quickly."
The two watched Clarissa Morgan leave, and Audrey Sutton finally whispered to Seraphina Vaughn, "What are you up to?"
Seraphina Vaughn smirked mischievously, "Just having some fun. Instead of waiting for her to rile you up, why not take the initiative?"
Audrey Sutton asked, "Then what was with the cards earlier? Did you really cheat?"
Seraphina Vaughn gave her a sidelong glance and replied sourly, "What do you think? You really thought you were that lucky?"
"I knew it. For a moment, I really thought I was on a lucky streak. But why did you do it?"
Seraphina Vaughn explained, "First, because that young girl was too annoying, and second, to use this to get closer to your Sister Morgan. This way, we can chat with her properly later. With your husband protecting you, don’t be afraid; if you’re not fond of her, confront her! If the sky falls, your husband’s got it covered."
Audrey Sutton pursed her lips and softly lamented, "He might protect me in public, but he’ll settle accounts with me later."
The waiter delivered the drinks, and just as Clarissa Morgan finished her call and walked over.
It was unclear who had called her, but Clarissa Morgan seemed somewhat preoccupied, with some hidden concerns. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Seraphina Vaughn handed the champagne glass to Clarissa Morgan and casually asked, "Who was it?"
Audrey Sutton then chimed in with Seraphina Vaughn, "Probably Brother Sterling? Sister Morgan and Brother Sterling have such a good relationship; he must have missed her and called to find her."
Clarissa Morgan simply smiled, neither confirming nor denying, took a sip from her glass, and changed the topic, "Audrey and Shane have such a solid relationship, always inseparable wherever they go."
Audrey Sutton glanced at Shane Warner and pretended to be troubled, "It’s not that. He just doesn’t trust me to play alone and insists on having me under his watchful eyes. I’m already tired of him."
