Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 593: The Two of Them Are Bullying Me
Audrey Sutton pulled at the corners of her mouth, smiling politely. Shane Warner also turned his head to look over when Grace Sue mentioned Clarissa Morgan. Seeing that she was just a young girl, unlikely to be a match for Audrey and Seraphina Vaughn whether in a quarrel or a fight, he confirmed that Audrey wouldn’t be bullied and turned back to continue their men’s conversation.
Grace, who didn’t finish her lollipop, tossed it into the trash, grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds, and perched on the armrest of the sofa next to Seraphina, asking, "Do you two know how to play Mahjong? How about I call Sister Morgan and we’ll make a table? It’s just too boring."
Seraphina glanced at Audrey, who smiled slightly and said, "I don’t know how to."
Grace: "How about other card games then? With so many ways to play poker, surely there’s one you can play?"
Audrey smiled demurely, responding, "I usually enjoy watching plays and listening to little tunes. I haven’t really been into that sort of thing."
Hearing this, even Shane who was sitting next to Audrey, couldn’t help but glance at her. But he also knew it was likely just Audrey’s excuse for not wanting to join, so naturally, he wouldn’t expose her at this moment.
Grace said disdainfully, "What you’re talking about is the kind of stuff my grandpa likes to do. We young people should play young people’s things."
Audrey smiled and said, "Personal hobbies have nothing to do with age."
"Alright, alright." Grace shifted her gaze back to Seraphina, saying, "The Vaughn Family runs a casino, so sister, you surely know how to play."
Seraphina’s red lips curled up slightly: "Knowing how to play and wanting to play are two different things."
Grace reached out and grabbed a passing servant, "Go get my deck of cards."
After giving the order, Grace turned back to the two of them and said, "Being idle is being idle, might as well find something to pass the time. If you don’t know, we’ll teach you."
Grace was overly familiar, clearing a spot on the coffee table without asking Audrey if she wanted to play before the servant returned with the playing cards, and then she just started shuffling and dealing the cards.
It was clear that this young girl had a domineering personality. Whatever she wanted to do, she would do it, without much regard for others’ feelings, clearly having grown up pampered and spoiled.
Audrey also wanted to see whether Grace truly wanted to play cards to pass the time or if there was something else in her plans, so she decided to join in the game.
She had just seen Grace interacting with Clarissa and had herself mentioned Clarissa earlier. But from what Grace said before, she and Clarissa didn’t seem to be real friends.
Because Audrey felt that true friends of Clarissa would know about her discord with Clarissa and wouldn’t say things like "Sister Morgan said you are her friend."
But it also couldn’t be ruled out that Grace said it intentionally, after all, Seraphina had said that the girl was not simple.
Probably similar to Jasmine Lucas, looking harmless and pure, but with an ulterior motive.
After a few rounds of cards, Seraphina was the winner. Grace asked her brother Bryce for some cash to give to Seraphina, then said to Audrey, "Didn’t you say you didn’t know how to play? I think you two are teaming up to bully me, right?"
It was just a coincidence that right after Grace said that, Clarissa walked over.
Grace immediately called out to Clarissa, "Sister Morgan, come help me play. They’re bullying me!"
With that, Grace got up and pulled Clarissa over to sit on the sofa.
Clarissa looked at Audrey with a smile, "It’s little Audrey, I was just looking everywhere for you, wanting to chat, but I didn’t expect you guys to be here playing cards."
Seeing Clarissa come over, Shane seemed not to notice, but his eyes occasionally drifted towards Audrey while also observing Clarissa’s actions.
Audrey smiled and played the role of a good sister with Clarissa, "What’s Sister Morgan want to chat about? Where’s Brother Sterling? Why didn’t you come over together?"
Clarissa: "He’s playing with his friends."
Seraphina seemed to have thought of something and actively started shuffling the cards, saying, "Chat while playing?"
Clarissa looked at the cards in Seraphina’s hand and said, "I’m not very good at it."
Seraphina: "No worries, just play around."
Audrey and Seraphina exchanged a glance, not quite sure what Seraphina’s sudden enthusiasm was about. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Clarissa also seemed a bit on guard.
Grace sat next to Clarissa, cracking sunflower seeds, saying, "Sister Morgan, you have to avenge me."
Clarissa: "I probably play even worse than you."
After Seraphina finished dealing the cards, Audrey placed her unfinished sunflower seeds on the table and reached for the cards.
With the corner of her eye, she saw Shane glance over, and she cheerfully displayed her cards to him saying, "Look at my hand, good luck, right? I’m definitely winning this one."
Shane looked at her smug expression, his lips slightly curving up, but he didn’t say anything.
Clarissa took the opportunity to address Shane, saying, "Shane, you can’t be giving Audrey advice."
Audrey grabbed the bottom card, leaving no room for Shane and Clarissa to talk further, and said to Clarissa, "No need for his help, I’ll win this one even if I play randomly."
Clarissa’s focus was clearly on the outcome of the game, smiling and saying, "That just means little Audrey has good luck."
Seraphina interjected coolly, "In a casino, luck is also a type of skill."
In this round, Audrey had all the big cards, including a few powerful ones, winning with ease.
Audrey was the landlord, so both Clarissa and Seraphina lost.
Seraphina dramatically sighed and counted a few notes from the money she won earlier to give to Audrey, "Oh, Audrey, what kind of luck is this? How can we play with you holding cards like these? All the money I won earlier was taken by you in one go."
Audrey speculated that this was possibly Seraphina’s manipulation, smiling as she accepted the money. Seeing this, Clarissa took out her phone from her bag, saying, "I didn’t bring any cash, I’ll just transfer it to you."
Audrey: "No need, no cash, then just don’t. Let’s keep playing; maybe Sister Morgan will win it back in the next hand?"
Seraphina echoed while shuffling the cards, "Yeah, don’t rush, just keep playing, we’re just playing casually."
In the second round, it was almost a repeat of the first, Audrey played as the landlord and overwhelmingly won.
Seraphina again sighed dramatically while handing over the money, saying, "Miss Morgan, didn’t you check your horoscope before going out? As soon as you arrived, I started losing. I was winning all along before!"
Clarissa’s smile became a bit more awkward, even though losing a few hundred dollars wasn’t a big deal, losing affected her mood, especially with Seraphina’s sarcastic remarks.
Grace, who had just been annoyed with her own losses, was now irked again as Clarissa lost twice in a row, showing her temper, pointing at Seraphina and saying, "Are you cheating?! Both rounds you dealt and this is the outcome, you’re bringing your bad casino habits here, aren’t you?! Do you know whose turf this is and you still dare to cheat?!"
