Chapter 595: Chapter 595: Respect the Deceased

Audrey Sutton finished speaking and stole a guilty glance at Shane, who paid her no mind.

Watching Audrey and Shane’s relationship flourish since the wedding, not only without any weariness from passing time but also growing more loving.

Clarissa Morgan increasingly felt that the hope of destroying their relationship from the outside to force a divorce was dwindling.

If they wouldn’t willingly separate, she must rethink her strategy and force them apart, perhaps... a separation by life and death.

She had endured, suffered, and invested too much to simply let go and watch them attain happiness; she needed a satisfactory outcome.

Previously, her goal was to marry Shane; now, she just wanted Audrey to disappear completely.

Audrey was like a thorn in her heart, festering and oozing pus, causing her discomfort until it was removed.

"Miss Monroe, have you been cast in any new dramas lately? I loved the last one you did; I eagerly awaited updates each week." Seraphina Vaughn acted as Clarissa Morgan’s little fan girl again.

Had Audrey not seen Seraphina and Flora Lane gossiping about Clarissa in the dormitory, she would have believed it.

Clarissa Morgan gathered her thoughts and replied to Seraphina Vaughn, "Planning to take a break for a while. After New Year, I’ll prepare for the tour, so I might not be acting for now."

Seraphina Vaughn lamented, "Oh no! Such a pity! We’ve been looking forward to your new work!"

Clarissa Morgan simply smiled without responding, not foolish enough to play into her schemes.

Seraphina Vaughn then asked, "Miss Morgan, you must know a lot of insider secrets from the entertainment industry, right? Let’s chat; I love hearing juicy gossip."

Clarissa Morgan smiled, her eyes cautious, responding to Seraphina Vaughn, "What rumors? Just meaningless hype and scandals. With such busy schedules and limited sleep time, there’s no room for gossip."

Seraphina Vaughn: "I thought Miss Morgan might know plenty of secrets of the trade."

Clarissa Morgan: "I’m fairly new in the industry and don’t have many friends; my interactions are mainly with staff. Any hidden truths are carefully kept, unlikely to reach our ears."

Seraphina Vaughn: "That’s true, but do you know about the incident where that handsome photographer passed away recently?"

Upon hearing this, Clarissa Morgan’s pupils noticeably contracted.

Seraphina Vaughn pretended to forgetfulness, asking Audrey Sutton, "What was that photographer’s name again? We even checked X together about it, was it Hawke or Fang or something."

Audrey Sutton complied with Seraphina Vaughn, saying, "Nolan Hawke."

Seraphina Vaughn nodded in sudden realization, "Yeah, that’s him. I recall Miss Morgan even posted a farewell on X. I used to follow that hunk Hawke’s X; he shared many of Miss Morgan’s works, you two collaborated often, right?"

Clarissa Morgan’s smile stiffened noticeably, nodding, "Yes, he was my former photographer."

Seraphina Vaughn: "You must have been quite sad when that happened, right?"

Clarissa Morgan: "A life was lost, it’s regrettable to everyone."

Seraphina Vaughn: "Talented and handsome, yet fate was unkind. But how did he die? Online theories vary; some suggest foul play. Such conspiracy theories are laughable; how could a murder go unnoticed? These rumor-makers have no sense!"

As she spoke, Seraphina Vaughn and Audrey Sutton stared intensely at Clarissa Morgan, who tried to control her facial expressions, but reflexive reactions can’t be hidden.

Clarissa Morgan cast her eyes down in silence, while Seraphina Vaughn pushed on, "Despite the sensational rumors, I’m curious about his actual cause of death. As his friend, Miss Morgan might know details unknown to the public?"

Clarissa Morgan pursed her lips, took a sip from her champagne glass, and then faced Seraphina Vaughn and Audrey Sutton, smiling with forced calmness as she replied, "I’m not sure of the details either. News reached me through friends. The funeral was private, just his family. We, as friends, shouldn’t pry, as it would upset his family further."

Lastly, Clarissa Morgan added, "Respect for the deceased; let’s cease speculation."

Audrey Sutton felt somewhat indignant watching the murderer discuss respect for the dead, powerless to bring them to justice, which was frustrating.

"Clarissa." Quentin Sterling approached.

Clarissa Morgan turned, looked at Quentin, stood up, and said to him, "Let’s go; I’m a bit tired."

Quentin froze briefly, then nodded, "Alright, I’ll take you home."

Seraphina Vaughn: "Why leave so soon? Stay longer; I have so much to discuss with Miss Morgan!"

Clarissa Morgan forced a smile, "Another time."

Audrey Sutton waved goodbye to Clarissa Morgan and Brother Sterling, "Goodbye, Sister Morgan and Brother Sterling."

Clarissa Morgan merely nodded, while Quentin smiled at Audrey Sutton and Shane’s side, replying, "Enjoy yourselves; we’ll head out first."

Shane nodded slightly, responding with, "Take care."

Before leaving, Clarissa Morgan glanced at Shane, likely feeling unsettled but saying nothing offensive, departing decisively.

This was the first time Audrey Sutton saw Clarissa Morgan making an excuse to flee; before, she clung like a stubborn sticky patch. Nowhere could one escape her.

Shane checked his watch, asking Audrey Sutton, "It’s almost ten; still up for more?"

Audrey Sutton felt like she had won a battle, her mood lifted, sipping her juice and smiling, "Whatever you say, I’m with you."

Shane seemed thirsty too; he promised Audrey Sutton not to drink alcohol, leaving his drink untouched. Once Audrey put her glass down, he picked up his and sipped, then stood, saying, "I’ll get the car; meet me outside shortly."

Audrey Sutton nodded, handing her coat to Shane, "Wear this outside, it’s chilly."

Shane took it, bid farewell briefly, and headed to the parking area.

Audrey Sutton gathered her things, leisurely walking with Seraphina Vaughn towards the exit. Seraphina said, "I think Quentin knows the secrets, or perhaps he’s the one helping Clarissa handle matters; Clarissa can’t have such clout alone. To grab Clarissa, we should start with Quentin."
