Chapter 483: Chapter 483: I Don’t Want to Get Married Right Now

As soon as Phoebe King’s words fell, Stephen Sutton closed the car door and walked away, not only that, but also locked the car with the key.

Audrey Sutton stood there, looking at Phoebe King still in the car, and then at Stephen Sutton who was almost at the house.

Phoebe King stuck her head out of the car window and shouted at Stephen Sutton’s back, "Stephen Sutton, you bastard!"

Stephen Sutton halted, turned around, and looked at her from a distance, coldly saying, "I see you want to crawl out of the window."

Phoebe King, who had initially wanted to fiercely scold Stephen Sutton, suddenly looked pitiful as her words caught in her throat, then she turned to an unseen place behind Stephen and said, "Auntie, look at him, he’s always bullying me."

Hazel Yates, who had just come out, didn’t even bother to figure out what was going on before glaring at Stephen Sutton, "What are you doing? Let Phoebe out already!"

Without saying anything, Stephen Sutton continued walking towards the house, unlocking the car with the key in his hand, then walked straight inside.

Hazel Yates muttered at his back, "Over thirty and still so childish?"

Phoebe King hurriedly got out of the car, carrying a delicate box, linked arms with Audrey Sutton, and walked towards Hazel Yates, saying, "Auntie, these are some pastries my mom sent from Serephina, she wanted me to bring them for everyone to try."

Phoebe King firmly believed that if she wanted to marry into the Suttons, winning Hazel Yates’s favor worked better than pleasing Stephen Sutton.

Hazel Yates smiled, her eyes full of affection for Phoebe King, "Oh dear, no need for such courtesy!"

Phoebe King said, "It’s also because Audrey said she wanted to try them, so I asked my mom to get some."

Glancing at Stephen Sutton who had already gone inside, Hazel Yates lowered her voice and softly asked Phoebe King, "When are your parents coming back? We should get together for a meal when they’re free."

Phoebe King replied, "They said not until after the National Day."

Hazel Yates said, "I was thinking of holding the wedding with the second one during the National Day, looks like we will have to wait until next year."

Audrey Sutton joined in, "Mom, you ought to ask big brother about this, as long as he agrees, Sister Phoebe could have her wedding tomorrow, no problem."

Phoebe King playfully glanced at Audrey Sutton, while Hazel Yates knowingly smiled, "Then I’ll discuss it with him later."

In the living room, Shane Warner and Stephen Sutton were sitting together, discussing Audrey Sutton’s recent happenings at school.

Audrey Sutton, meanwhile, was snuggling with Phoebe King on another sofa, whispering about her pregnancy.

Before long, the other brothers also gradually returned, and most of the dishes were already on the table.

Laura Yates also arrived, but she hadn’t come with Franklin Sutton, having driven herself and arrived more than ten minutes earlier than Franklin.

Hazel Yates asked why they hadn’t come together, and Laura Yates simply said Franklin was still busy, so she drove over after work.

It sounded reasonable, but Audrey Sutton suspected her second brother had offended Laura Yates again.

Their wedding was scheduled for the National Day, with only a few days left. Audrey Sutton worried that her second brother might mess things up with his denseness, unable to hold the fort until then.

When Franklin Sutton returned, Audrey Sutton quietly observed. He did try to speak with Laura Yates, but Laura clearly had no intention of interacting with him. It seemed that only the presence of family kept her from showing it more clearly.

Audrey Sutton feared that such a good second sister-in-law might be driven away by her brother, noticing the two sitting together yet ignoring each other, Audrey approached Franklin Sutton, saying, "Second brother, move over, I have something to discuss with the second sister-in-law."

Franklin Sutton noticed Audrey Sutton’s signaling glance and understood, immediately standing up to make room.

Laura Yates displayed little emotion, remaining calm and indifferent. Seeing Audrey Sutton sit down, she smiled as usual, saying, "Have you finished this week’s drafts?"

Audrey Sutton replied, "I’ll finish them tonight. Sister-in-law, have you picked out your wedding dress yet? Shall I go with you?"

Laura Yates said, "I don’t want to get married for now."

Audrey Sutton was taken aback, "Why not?"

Laura Yates glanced at Franklin Sutton, who had found another seat and was watching them. Seeing him like that, Laura Yates softened, but recalling his repeated lies to her, she couldn’t let her anger go.

"I’m starting to doubt whether he and I are really suitable for each other. We’ve encountered some issues, but I can’t tell if they stem from him or from myself."

Audrey Sutton realized the problem seemed serious, not a simple matter of calming down from petty disputes. "What’s happened, exactly?"

Laura Yates smiled and said, "It’s nothing major, perhaps I’m just being petty, unable to accept some of your brother’s actions and behavior."

Before Audrey Sutton could inquire further, Hazel Yates saw Samuel Sutton and Arthur Sutton return and called everyone to prepare for dinner, prompting Audrey to say, "Let’s talk more after dinner. My second brother can be quite one-track-minded, all focused on work. He hasn’t interacted much with girls, so he might be a bit dense in relationships."

Laura Yates laughed and said, "He doesn’t seem dense to me, quite adept at chatting with girls."

Hearing this, Audrey Sutton thought Laura Yates probably had evidence of Franklin Sutton being intimate with another girl, but she believed her brother wasn’t the type to flirt around, suggesting a misunderstanding somewhere.

At dinner, Laura Yates and Phoebe King sat together, not next to Franklin Sutton, who seemed troubled and had barely spoken since coming home.

Tonight’s gathering was to celebrate Shane’s birthday, making him the focal point of the evening.

Hazel Yates led the toast, "We didn’t prepare any special gifts for Shane’s birthday, let’s raise a glass to wish him a happy birthday."

Everyone lifted their wine glasses, Audrey Sutton’s only filled with juice. She hadn’t touched alcohol since planning for pregnancy and certainly wouldn’t now being pregnant.

As everyone raised their glasses, she turned to Shane Warner beside her and softly smiled, saying, "Happy birthday, husband."

Shane Warner smiled, quietly asking her, "Where’s my gift?"

Audrey Sutton replied, "I’ll give it to you later, I promise you’ll love it."

To Shane Warner, gifts didn’t matter much. Just hearing someone simply wish him "Happy Birthday" satisfied him. He never thought he would experience such joy, having a family to celebrate his birthday together.

This simple warmth was something he had never felt before meeting Audrey Sutton.
