Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 462: Competing with the Phone for Attention
Shane didn’t use brute force to cling to her, allowing her to push him away, but he frowned unhappily, saying, "You’ve changed."
Audrey Sutton paused for a moment, then put down her phone and teased him with a smile, "Why are you being so melodramatic? Like a wronged little wife."
"I’m melodramatic?" Shane’s face turned even darker.
Audrey looked at him and was about to get out of bed, but she quickly reached out to grab his arm and said with a smile, "Are you really mad? Where’s your manly spirit?"
Shane sat on the bed, lowered his head to look at her, and questioned, "Think about it, how many times have you rejected me these past few days?"
Audrey rolled her eyes, thinking about it, and realized the number was indeed quite high.
She hadn’t really thought much of it, but hadn’t expected Shane to throw a little tantrum.
She hurriedly coaxed him, saying, "I really didn’t mean it, calm down."
Shane: "During the day, I’m at work, and you never come to see me even when you’re free. At night, I say I’ll come home early to be with you, but after dinner you’re either watching anime or glued to your phone."
Listening to him, Audrey could tell he was really unhappy, but for some reason, she just wanted to laugh because he seemed just like a little girl being unreasonable.
Besides, aren’t these things usually said by girls?
Audrey held back her laughter, sat up with him, and reached out to pat his head like a general’s, "Okay, okay, don’t be mad, just talk it out."
Shane looked stern, slapped away her hand that was patting his head.
Audrey explained, "I don’t know if it’s because of the change in seasons, but lately I’ve felt so sluggish, standing I want to sit, sitting I want to lie down, lying down I want to sleep, so I haven’t gone to the company to see you, just too lazy to move around."
Shane said in a steady tone, "I think your mind has changed, you don’t care as much anymore."
Audrey leaned in, shook his arm a little, "That’s not it, I’m thinking about you every day, just been lazy lately. I promise, starting tomorrow, whenever possible, I’ll go to the office to see you, okay?"
Shane snorted coldly, "No need, don’t disturb my work."
Audrey: "Not going is disturbing your work, your mind is surely filled with thoughts of me, no focus on work, right?"
Shane’s face was stern, and he scoffed lightly.
Audrey smiled sweetly at him, making it hard for him to be mean to her anymore.
Seeing her smiling face, Shane indeed softened up, the two stared at each other for a long time before Shane spoke, "I want to recharge."
To express his needs so boldly, probably only he could do so.
Audrey really didn’t want to move, looking at him pitifully, "Honey, I’m really tired, aching all over, don’t feel like moving."
Shane: "Just lie down, that’s all."
Audrey knew him well enough that once she nodded with a soft heart, it would take almost half the night. Just thinking about it drained her, so she used a delaying tactic, "Tomorrow, I’ll prepare nicely, wear some pretty clothes for you, whichever you like I’ll wear."
Shane: "Did you calculate that I’d be on a business trip tomorrow?"
"You’re going on a business trip? Where to? For how long?"
Shane just stared at her blankly, clearly wanting to discuss nothing else but "recharging."
Audrey smiled sweetly, going along with him, "How about when you return from your trip, I learn something new, and give you a proper treat, how does that sound?"
Shane’s expression didn’t change much, but he found her proposition tempting. After a few seconds of reluctance, he said, "If you regret it then, see how I’ll deal with you."
Audrey: "A gentleman’s word is as good as gold, my word is good, Sutton always sticks to her word."
Shane: "I’ll probably be back in two or three days, remember what you just said, I’ll check when I get back."
Audrey nodded obediently, "So... Young Master Warner, shall we retire now?"
Shane finally conceded, though his mood hadn’t completely lifted, at least laying down to sleep obediently.
After turning off the room’s lights, Audrey pulled his arm to cradle her head, wrapping around him with her limbs, nestling comfortably in his warm embrace.
She suddenly understood why Shane used to like making her angry; now she felt that making him upset and seeing his little tantrums was actually quite amusing.
Besides, who would have thought that the usually aloof Third Young Master Warner would privately compete for attention with a mobile phone?
He’s somewhat changed, in the past he used to like having cold wars, showing a stern face for her to guess his thoughts, and now he has slightly improved, at least expressing dissatisfaction directly to her.
Although those so-called "dissatisfactions," to Audrey, seemed like a child fussing for candy, a bit capricious and unreasonable.
But this side of him is also quite adorable.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
Shane looked down at her with cold stillness, "What’s so funny?"
Audrey shook her head, "Nothing."
As she said this, she nestled closer to him, Shane sighed softly, moved the blanket towards her, hugging her lightly, and closed his eyes.
Outside the window, a gentle rain fell, the stream flowed softly in the creek.
The night was peaceful.
The Sterling family mansion.
The card game would end at midnight, Vanessa Sterling had to wait for Miles to finish playing before she could leave.
Normally, she didn’t go to bed until eleven or twelve, but in her own room, she could do her own things, drawing, watching TV, and the time flew by.
Now staying at the Sterling house, she didn’t really know what to do, nor dared to wander around aimlessly, just sitting on the sofa waiting for Miles to call her back.
Outside the corridor, there were slightly chaotic footsteps, sounded like two people’s steps, and from the sound of their stop, they seemed to be at Quentin Sterling’s room.
Vanessa got up, standing on the sofa, there was a small vent above the sofa through which she could see outside.
When she looked, she saw Clarissa Morgan supporting Quentin as they entered, Quentin looked unwell or perhaps drunk.
As they entered, Clarissa closed the door.
Vanessa was thoughtful, just about to come down, when she suddenly noticed Clarissa coming back out, looking slightly tense, glancing around the corridor before looking towards the room where Vanessa was.
Vanessa thought Clarissa had spotted her, quickly jumped down from the sofa, nervously sat on the sofa, and listened carefully to the outside, hearing Clarissa’s footsteps gradually moving downstairs...
