Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 443: He Hasn’t Even Proposed to Me
Stephen Sutton was stunned by Arthur Sutton’s question, instinctively glanced at Phoebe King who was seated not far away beside Audrey Sutton, and then quietly replied, "Not yet."
Arthur Sutton said indifferently, "Bringing her home means it won’t be long."
Stephen Sutton thought to himself, this third brother usually has an indifferent attitude, what’s making him join in now?
"You all have some fruit and snacks first. Second brother went to pick up Laura; they should be here soon. We’ll start the meal when they arrive." Hazel Yates said, sitting down beside Samuel Sutton and continued to nag, "The eldest has brought his girlfriend home, the second brother is discussing marriage now, third brother, what are you waiting for?"
Arthur Sutton: "..."
How did the conversation turn to him?
Hazel Yates: "Before, when mom urged you, you used your elder brothers as shields. Now they all have partners, when will you bring someone home?"
Arthur Sutton picked up the teacup beside the coffee table, took a sip, chuckled, and replied blandly, "I’ll find someone in a while."
Hazel Yates seized the chance and said, "You always just fool your mom, who knows when ’a while’ will pass. You’re not young anymore; it’s time to settle down. Just the other day, Mrs. Armstrong from the beauty salon was talking about matchmaking, saying there’s a girl who teaches kindergarten, whose parents are both teachers too. She seems good-tempered and well-conditioned. How about... taking some time on the weekend for a meeting?"
Arthur Sutton: "I have to go on a business trip this weekend."
Hazel Yates: "Then let me know when you’re free, and I’ll arrange a meeting."
Arthur Sutton: "No need, mom. I’ll find someone myself and bring her home in due course."
Talking about this matter frustrated Hazel Yates, and she rolled her eyes at him, saying, "You’ll find? Where will you find? Your life revolves around work and home; you don’t even visit your fourth brother’s bar when asked, and there’s not a girl around except your sister’s friends. When do you plan to find one?"
Arthur Sutton: "I already have a target."
Arthur Sutton’s words caught the whole family off guard, as if witnessing a millennium iron tree blooming with flowers.
Immediately, Hazel Yates asked him, "Whose girl is she? When will you bring her home for a meal?"
Arthur Sutton, steady and without any impatience, answered mildly, "Mom, don’t worry about me, I’ll handle it."
Seeing Arthur Sutton almost unable to fend off the questioning, fourth brother made a jesting remark to help, "Mom, you don’t seem to worry about me."
Hazel Yates glared at Scott Sutton, responding disdainfully, "One after another, you’re no saint either."
And following this turn, her gaze settled on Evan Sutton who lowered his head, maintaining his usual silence and calm.
Going by this order, it should be his turn now.
Hazel Yates gave a gentle smile, said kindly, "Evan doesn’t need my worry; he’s still young, and there are plenty of nurses and female doctors at the hospital who surely fancy our Evan, so finding a suitable partner won’t be a trouble when he’s ready."
Holding a gaming console while playing, Norman Sutton pouted and said, "Mom, your favoritism is too apparent."
Speaking of Norman Sutton, Hazel Yates’s face turned stern again, "All you know is playing games. If you stay home all day, your third brother will find you something to do at the company."
Norman Sutton: "Mom, I specialize in certain fields. I wouldn’t handle the tasks my third brother assigns."
Hazel Yates: "Then go to the ranch to herd cattle and sheep; doesn’t require much brain power."
Norman Sutton: "Mom, how can you say your son has no brains? If I were indeed brainless, who’d I inherit it from? You or dad?"
Samuel Sutton: "You’re the one who always has backchat with your mom. Learn from your brothers, just listen to what your mom says without chattering."
Audrey Sutton took the chance to add fuel to the fire, "Exactly! You’re the most disobedient one!"
Norman Sutton: "Who are you to lecture your brother? You shut up!"
Samuel Sutton: "How many times have I told you not to be mean to your sister?"
Norman Sutton instantly put on a mock crying face, saying, "Boo hoo, no one cares, no one loves, I’m a lone cabbage in the field."
Hazel Yates laughed while standing up and heading to the kitchen, "How much cabbage do you eat? You eat six or seven eggs by yourself every morning."
Norman Sutton mumbled with justification, "I’m growing!"
Hazel Yates went to the kitchen to check on the soup she was cooking, and not long after Franklin Sutton came back with Laura Yates, ending this "nagging session."
Audrey Sutton shifted her position, leaving a space beside her, and beckoned Laura Yates to come over. Laura Yates smiled and moved over to sit by Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton asked, "I heard from my mom that you and my second brother are discussing marriage?"
Laura Yates wiped the smile off her face, "This matter is frustrating!"
"What’s wrong?"
Laura Yates: "He’s just urging me to marry, didn’t even propose, and every day he asks when I’ll marry him. He should buy a ring and flowers and propose properly!"
Seeing Laura Yates so annoyed, Audrey Sutton understood and chuckled, "My second brother uses all his brains on work, how is he so dim in relationships! Let me give him some hints."
Laura Yates: "Please don’t say it was prompted by me."
"Of course."
Phoebe King: "Audrey, your brothers may seem crafty, but they feel like they’re all blockheads when it comes to relationships."
Audrey Sutton: "Their craftiness isn’t used in romance but I assure you, they’re not frivolous at all; the two sister-in-laws can marry them boldly."
Phoebe King pouted, "I want to marry, even to register tomorrow, but your big brother hasn’t agreed yet."
Laura Yates: "Phoebe, how old are you?"
Phoebe King: "I’ll turn twenty-five in March."
Laura Yates: "Then I’m a month older than you, I’ll have to call you sister-in-law later."
Phoebe King laughed heartily, "Seems like I have the highest status." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The three of them sat together, chatting excitedly, and when they saw Hazel Yates starting to serve dishes onto the dining table, they eagerly got up to help in the kitchen.
Among them, the least proficient at chores was Phoebe King, but even so, she busied herself with serving plates and setting tableware, her hands never resting.
During the meal, Phoebe King sneakily squeezed near Stephen Sutton; he glanced at her but said nothing.
At the table, Hazel Yates asked, "Laura, have you set the wedding date?"
Laura Yates looked at Samuel Sutton beside her, as he also looked at her. She said, "We haven’t decided yet."
Hazel Yates turned smilingly to Phoebe King and Stephen Sutton, suggesting, "Why not have both brothers’ weddings together? How about during the National Day holiday?"
Phoebe King hesitated, thinking that her romantic situation with Stephen Sutton was not fully settled yet, and here they were discussing marriage. Plus, the National Day was just twenty days away.
Progress was fast, but she could accept it; she just wasn’t sure about Teacher Sutton’s thoughts, so she turned her head, pursed her lips, smiled, and looked at Stephen Sutton, awaiting his response.
