Chapter 201: Chapter 201: The Entertainment Industry

"Continue."

Seraphina Redgrave sat in her seat and opened the file on the table.

The man sitting to her left suddenly leaned over the table, facing her, his arm casually placed on the surface.

His slender fingers were very close to Seraphina Redgrave, as if he could reach out and touch her at any moment.

Due to the seating arrangement, no one could see Ethan Sterling’s expression clearly, only Seraphina Redgrave saw it clearly—he was looking at her.

People below exchanged playful glances, none of them expected to witness such shocking gossip about their leader during a meeting.

Seraphina Redgrave scanned Ethan Sterling’s eyes and spoke coldly, "Regarding the issue of sharing competition resources with the Elite Society, I’ve thought about it. The Defiance Society’s popularity will eventually decline, and once that day comes, we’ll be crushed by the consortium. So..."

Ethan Sterling’s hand lay on the table, his fingers mischievously inching forward until they touched the file in Seraphina Redgrave’s hand, and then their pinkies intertwined.

Seraphina Redgrave glanced down and continued, "Therefore, the Defiance Society must not slack off. We must continuously defy the tide until no one can tear us down."

Ethan Sterling lay atop the table, his amber eyes flitting over Seraphina Redgrave’s lips, soft and pink, as if begging to be bitten.

Everyone’s gaze inadvertently drifted to this man who had suddenly barged into their meeting room.

Everyone was guessing who this man was, not seriously listening to Seraphina Redgrave’s words.

"This time we’ve managed to achieve such high popularity, making the Elite Society yield their resources. Rory will enter the highest level physics research institute in Country Z, James Lynch and Claire Ford will enter other high-level research institutes. But..."

Seraphina Redgrave closed the file in her hand and looked at Beatrice Fawcett, her stark eyes focused: "Didn’t you major in finance? Why do you want to enter the entertainment industry?"

"The entertainment industry?"

Rory was stunned: "Beatrice, you’re a prodigy among prodigies, why would you want to enter the entertainment industry?"

"Yeah, I also want to know. If you wanted to get into entertainment, why join the Defiance Society?"

Ronan Yates chimed in. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Couldn’t she just go directly to the crew for auditions and enter the entertainment industry? Why come to the Defiance Society?

"Currently in Country Z’s entertainment industry, the actors who get popular all have strong backers, and I want the Defiance Society to be my backer."

Beatrice Fawcett sat in her seat, her eyes unwaveringly fixated on Seraphina Redgrave: "My family’s in poor condition and I really need money. I can’t wait in those research institutes, grinding away slowly, so I need to enter the entertainment industry."

This was her thought process.

Seraphina Redgrave remained seated, looking at Beatrice Fawcett, not particularly surprised by her words, her expression was calm when she spoke: "Beatrice, I’ve told you all that I founded the Defiance Society for my own reasons, I don’t need someone in the entertainment industry to help me."

For her own reasons.

Upon hearing this, Ethan Sterling’s eyes tightened, gazing deeply at Seraphina Redgrave.

It turned out she had already confided her thoughts openly to these members, without deceiving them.

Ethan Sterling’s fingers twitched ever so slightly.

Seraphina Redgrave lowered her gaze, looking at Ethan Sterling’s pinky which was intertwined with hers.

His fingers were long and pristine, like a perfect work of art; their fingers touching, intimate and indulgent.

"The Defiance Society doesn’t need a product that stands in the spotlight. I know that. It’s just, Seraphina, the entertainment industry has always been a place of capital tug-of-war, whatever you’ll do in the future, capital is a necessity." Beatrice Fawcett smiled, "As long as I can become famous, I can get you any resources you want."

Hearing these words, Ethan Sterling sneered.

In this Country Z, which capital isn’t trampled beneath Ethan Sterling’s feet? How could Seraphina Redgrave ever need someone in the entertainment industry to bring her resources?

Beatrice Fawcett’s confidence was diminished by Ethan Sterling’s cold laugh.

Seraphina Redgrave understood what Ethan Sterling meant, but did not immediately rebut Beatrice Fawcett: "Besides capital, if you become very popular, you could even control the narrative direction for the Defiance Society."

Beatrice Fawcett’s recovered confidence returned: "Seraphina agreed?"

"I agree, but I must still tell you all, no matter which direction you wish to develop, I have no objections. However, if you truly wish to pursue this, be the best; the Defiance Society does not foster mediocrity."

Seraphina Redgrave spoke each word clearly and deliberately, her face devoid of expression.

For her, really, it’s a good thing if the Defiance Society can infiltrate various fields.

"Great!"

Everyone’s faces were etched with dreams of the future.

"Whatever you choose to do, I will support you. But achieving your desired future requires your own efforts."

Seraphina Redgrave pulled out another file and opened it: "Next, let’s talk about the upcoming competitions."

Due to the Defiance Society’s recent establishment, many matters required detailed explanation. Seraphina went through them one by one, and time started to drag on—Ethan Sterling stayed at his place, seemingly tired.

People also began to lose focus, Rory and Claire Ford huddled together, whispering.

"Judging by his aura, he doesn’t seem like a student; maybe he’s a coach from some gym? Look at that physique, it’s amazing."

"Why do I feel like he’s a soldier? Maybe even from some special operation unit; just look at those gloves, like they’re straight from a movie."

"No way, could it be from some secret service? Otherwise, why wouldn’t he even let us see his true appearance?"

"How did Seraphina end up with a boyfriend like this? We’ve never heard about it before."

The two spoke more excitedly, completely oblivious to how their voices were getting louder, interrupting Seraphina Redgrave’s serious speech.

Suddenly, the entire meeting room fell silent.

Only then did the two wake as if from a dream, raising their heads to see Seraphina Redgrave sitting in her place, her gaze coldly fixed on them, her face expressionless yet faintly irate.

"Bang!"

Seraphina Redgrave slammed the file onto the meeting table, her voice was extremely displeased: "Do you enjoy gossip so much? You might as well skip on the research institute and become paparazzi directly."

Ethan Sterling was awakened by the loud gesture, opened his eyes to see Seraphina Redgrave’s face full of discontent, looking somewhat intimidating.

What’s wrong?

You could hear a pin drop in the meeting room, Rory and Claire Ford blushing stood up: "Sorry, Seraphina..."

"Heh."

Ethan Sterling suddenly chuckled, his gaze fixed directly on Seraphina Redgrave: "I see you’re quite stern with them."

In comparison, she seemed like a little white rabbit in front of him.

Ethan Sterling kept his voice low, yet in the extremely quiet meeting room, it sounded particularly loud.

Ronan Yates nearly exploded on the spot; what’s with this guy, Seraphina was establishing authority, what was the meaning of his comment? Was he flaunting that Seraphina might have a thousand admirers but only favors him?

Seraphina Redgrave looked at Ethan Sterling, her eyes starting to show annoyance, seemingly unhappy with his sudden comment.

Such behavior would hinder her management of members.

Ethan Sterling appeared entirely oblivious, "I want some water."

What a troublesome little lord.
