Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 199: Meeting
Seraphina Redgrave hadn’t been driving for long when Ethan Sterling fell asleep, and he didn’t wake up, showing some level of trust in Seraphina’s driving skills.
Ethan adjusted the seat to the most comfortable position, propping his head with one hand, his handsome face chiseled like a sculpture.
But those amber eyes were closed, which softened his fierce demeanor significantly.
He was sleeping quite soundly.
Seraphina held her breath, turned on the car’s ventilation system, and opened the rear windows to ensure good airflow inside the car.
After doing all that, she opened the car door and slowly walked outside.
She was going to a meeting, leaving Ethan to sleep for a while.
The timing was perfectly planned.
Seraphina leaned out of the car, frowning slightly at the empty school gate.
Ethan was out alone today, without a single person accompanying him. There were so many people wanting to kill Ethan in Sovereign, and if an enemy found him, it wasn’t impossible for Ethan to end up dead.
Thinking of this, Seraphina got back in the car and drove directly into the school.
Seeing the license plate, the security guard immediately opened the gate for her.
Seraphina drove straight to The Defiance Society’s stronghold, parking under a large tree to shield the car from the sun while keeping it out of sight, so she could keep an eye on things in The Defiance Society.
It really was a great spot.
This time, Seraphina got out of the car without any burden.
After getting out, Seraphina immediately called all The Defiance Society members to notify them of the meeting.
If they didn’t meet soon, they would lose all cohesion.
After receiving the call, Ronan Yates and Beatrice Fawcett dropped what they were doing and rushed to The Defiance Society. Entering the meeting room, they found Seraphina sitting at the head of the table.
She wore an off-shoulder white dress, with one shoulder exposed. While the style was somewhat sensual, Seraphina’s subtle, pure aura transformed the entire outfit.
Seraphina sat there reviewing documents, conveying an aura of detachment and authority, leaving everyone speechless.
Tall stacks of accumulated files were piled in front of her.
"Seraphina, you’re here!"
Beatrice exclaimed with joy, even quicker to speak than Ronan, who usually sang Seraphina’s praises.
"Mm." Seraphina responded, "Sit down. Let’s start the meeting and deal with the backlog of issues."
"Mm-hmm!"
Members of The Defiance Society took their seats at the conference table.
Ronan sat to the lower left of Seraphina, his eyes sparkling as he looked at her, about to speak when Beatrice interrupted: "Seraphina, those earrings are really beautiful."
Upon hearing this, Seraphina instinctively went to touch her earlobe.
Over the past days, while Ethan was recuperating, he had nothing to do other than boss her around or dress her up like a doll.
Every day, her attire was coordinated by Ethan.
This was Ethan’s controlling nature.
Seraphina was still lost in thought when Ronan pounded on the table and stood up: "Beatrice, can you try to act as aloof as you used to, instead of turning into a love-struck fan whenever you see Seraphina?"
Beatrice, sitting across Ronan, laughed coldly: "You’re just jealous because I’m the only one who can talk to Seraphina, aren’t you?"
Everyone in The Defiance Society admired Seraphina. She had the guts to talk to her; if he had what it takes, he could bite her!
Ronan was about to retort when Seraphina blankly spoke: "Do we need to have a showdown before we can start the meeting?"
Seeing Seraphina’s displeased expression, Beatrice and Ronan immediately quieted down, saying nothing more.
Not knowing when Ethan might wake up, Seraphina tried to make the most of the time. She opened the file in front of her and said: "The school has acknowledged The Defiance Society’s existence but has no intention of dissolving the Elite Society. They’ve decided both organizations should have equal resources, you know that, right?"
"Yeah, the school intends to protect the Elite Society. They agreed to disband if they lost, and now they’re going back on their word." Ronan gritted his teeth in anger.
"That’s not important. What matters is that all our future resources will be contested against the descendants of these corporate giants..."
Before Seraphina could finish, someone kicked open the conference room door.
"Bang!"
The sound was deafening.
Seraphina turned her head, and everyone else followed suit.
The warehouse was stuffy and hot, even with the air conditioning. Now, the sudden opening of the door let a wave of heat crash into them.
In the heatwave, everyone looked up to see a man in black standing at the door.
The man appeared about 6’3", his body perfectly proportioned, wearing a mask and a baseball cap, his hands covered in fingerless gloves.
He was wrapped up tightly, revealing nothing, but the aura he exuded left everyone speechless.
Everyone fell silent.
All eyes were on this unexpected visitor.
Ronan scratched his head. Why did this scene feel so familiar?
Seeing the newcomer, Seraphina felt a bit helpless. She hadn’t been here long, yet Ethan had already woken and dressed like this.
The man walked into the conference room, headed straight to Seraphina, and pulled her up without a word.
It was as if Seraphina were a kindergartener being taken away by a parent.
Seraphina instinctively struggled a little, but the hand immediately tightened, almost crushing her wrist, suggesting the man was really in a bad mood.
Seraphina had no choice but to leave with him, turning back to the members as she said, "You all stay here."
Everyone’s eyes were wide with disbelief.
What was going on?
Who was that man?
This sudden grabbing was way too intense! Was that her boyfriend? Then why not show his face?
"He...he’s!"
Ronan suddenly realized, pointing at the man in shock, his hand trembling.
That duck!
Oh my god, Seraphina actually brought the duck back to Sovereign. Did she directly take him in?
Before he could finish, Beatrice shoved a stack of tissues into Ronan’s mouth. If he dared to say it, it would ruin Seraphina’s reputation, something she wouldn’t allow.
"Mm!"
Ronan nodded quickly at Beatrice, indicating he wouldn’t say a word!
But...
Seraphina was quite bold, wasn’t she? Bringing the duck to The Defiance Society.
Seraphina was dragged out of the meeting by Ethan. She reached to close the door, but the moment it shut, Ethan pressed her against the wall.
Ethan removed his mask, revealing a pair of fierce eyes: "Quite impressive, good driving skills."
The distance between Sovereign College and The Sterling Family estate was so far, and she managed to drive all the way here alone.
It was hot, and only her back, pressed against the wall, felt cool.
Looking at Ethan’s amber eyes, Seraphina leaned against the wall and turned her head away as she spoke, "I came for a meeting, why are you dressed like this?"
"The bodyguards brought it," Ethan replied irritably.
