Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 181: Knocking on the Door
"That’s because Sylvia Shaw is cunning and managed to win the competition. You don’t need to blame yourself for that."
Caleb Crawford harshly criticized Seraphina Redgrave, clearly forgetting how he had previously orchestrated the theft of test questions and The Defiance Society’s model ideas during the earlier competitions.
Selena Quinn looked at Caleb Crawford with a solemn expression, "What I’m afraid of now is that if The Defiance Society doesn’t let The Elite Society win even once, Sylvia Shaw will definitely force the school to fulfill their promise to dissolve The Elite Society."
"The Elite Society isn’t something that can be dissolved just like that. It has built up its reputation in society for a long time and has its own social status. Dissolving The Elite Society means messing with the foundation of the consortium. Not only us, but even the former members wouldn’t agree."
"But if we really can’t manage The Elite Society well, do you think those former members will let us off easily?"
Selena Quinn spoke almost chokingly, "The outcome in front of me is only twofold: either I get blamed and expelled as the cause for The Elite Society’s decline, or I disappear silently from the world."
Hearing this, Caleb Crawford’s pupils shook as he looked at Selena Quinn, wanting to say something, but found himself speechless.
If they lose another match, she truly is in danger.
Caleb Crawford couldn’t resist the urge to protect the frail-looking Selena Quinn, suddenly grasping her hand and speaking earnestly, "Selena, don’t worry, I won’t let The Defiance Society win again."
"There’s no way, Caleb. You tried before, but they still won," Selena Quinn sighed, tears glinting even more in her eyes.
"It’s because I held back before. This time, I won’t let Sylvia Shaw win again."
Caleb Crawford patted Selena Quinn on the shoulder. He already had a plan and turned to leave.
Selena Quinn watched Caleb Crawford’s determined back, wiping away her tears, and softly curved her lips.
She would never allow Seraphina Redgrave to always overshadow her!
The third competition was held in a neighboring city, and in all of Country Z, only Beatrice Fawcett and Caleb Crawford were qualified to participate in this match.
Seraphina Redgrave specifically submitted a report to Ethan Sterling; this time, Young Master Sterling was uncharacteristically lenient and allowed Seraphina to take people to the neighboring city to get familiar with the competition venue in advance.
Due to some course issues, Seraphina only brought the contestants Beatrice Fawcett and Vice-President Ronan Yates to the neighboring city.
The maple trees in the neighboring city were quite famous; in June, their branches were lush, and the leaves rustled in the wind.
The taxi drove along the road as sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting dappled shadows.
After getting off the taxi, the three of them went straight to the hotel; Ronan Yates had already arranged their stay through a friend. They could head straight to the rooms with their key cards, skipping all the cumbersome procedures.
This also prevented anyone from tracking them.
Upon opening the room door, Ronan Yates and Beatrice Fawcett were stunned by the opulence of the presidential suite they saw before them.
It was unbelievably luxurious.
"Given the special circumstances, we’re staying in one suite. Don’t act alone," Seraphina Redgrave said as she put down her luggage.
No wonder there was only one room.
Ronan Yates looked around and then said at the door, "There are four bedrooms in total. You two choose first; I’ll just take whatever’s left."
Seraphina nodded, took out a stack of tickets for various transportation methods from her bag, tore them up, and threw them into the trash.
Standing beside Seraphina, Beatrice Fawcett couldn’t help her curiosity as she watched Seraphina’s actions, "Why wasn’t there this much precaution during the previous competitions?"
Previously, while Seraphina took the competitions seriously, she never went to such lengths, buying tickets for every mode of transportation to the neighboring city and then randomly choosing a taxi on the street.
Those various tickets were quite expensive too.
Beatrice understood why Seraphina acted like this: it was to keep the members of the Elite Society from knowing their movements, preventing any accidents along the way.
Seraphina sat on the sofa in the suite, casually brushed aside the hair hanging in front of her face, and said, "Better to be cautious. Before the competition starts, don’t leave the room. There’s fresh ingredients in the kitchen, we’ll cook for ourselves."
The Elite Society would surely want to win tomorrow’s competition.
If Selena Quinn’s previous intentions were just to make her a laughingstock, then for the third match, the Elite Society would definitely bring out their best.
She spoke emotionlessly, yet her whole being exuded the authority of a leader, making her command impossible to ignore.
Seeing Seraphina Redgrave so cautious, Beatrice Fawcett couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. She took a deep breath, "Okay, Seraphina, I’ll go rest now."
Her competition qualification was something Seraphina had secured for her after establishing The Defiance Society. She hadn’t really prepared before, but there wasn’t much to prepare for anyway.
As long as she remained calm and committed no mistakes, victory was assured.
Watching Beatrice Fawcett enter her room, Ronan Yates frowned, "Seraphina, Beatrice seemed a bit nervous just now. Are we sure there won’t be any issues?"
The Defiance Society needed to win three matches in a row; they couldn’t afford to lose.
Seraphina Redgrave gave Ronan Yates a glance, her expression unchanged, "Let’s see if she can adjust."
Whether Beatrice Fawcett could adjust her mindset and perform well tomorrow wasn’t something Seraphina could control. All she could ensure was that Beatrice would make it to the exam hall in one piece.
Once at the hotel, things quieted down; Seraphina randomly chose a bedroom and checked in.
After closing the door, she lay on the bed, checking the buzz about tomorrow’s competition online. If Beatrice succeeded greatly, this match could reach new heights.
The Defiance Society needed to reach the pinnacle.
It wasn’t long before Seraphina started feeling sleepy; she pulled up a blanket, deciding to nap.
She didn’t know how long she slept, when suddenly, a knocking sound woke her up.
Seraphina looked annoyed and grabbed her phone for a look; it was already six in the evening. It was probably Ronan Yates calling her for dinner.
"I’m already asleep, you guys go ahead and eat."
Seraphina called out once, ready to continue her rest.
Ever since being sent to the forbidden area three years ago, her sleep quality had become poor; she wanted to have a good rest and didn’t want to be disturbed.
Ronan Yates, from outside, did not leave, continuing to knock.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
"Knock, knock, knock!"
Three knocks again and again, as if he wouldn’t leave until Seraphina opened the door.
This wasn’t Ronan Yates.
Ronan Yates wouldn’t persistently knock after being told no, and it certainly wasn’t Beatrice either. Beatrice wouldn’t silently knock on her door.
Seraphina’s eyes snapped open, observing the dimly lit room, her gaze icy cold.
Could it be that even after all this, they’ve still been discovered by the Elite Society? Ronan Yates and Beatrice’s continued silence—could it be...
For a moment, several scenarios flashed through Seraphina’s mind.
With the knocking continuing, Seraphina took a deep breath, sat up, walked to the coat rack, and grabbed the belt from her robe, tying one end around her palm and holding the other taut.
