Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure-Chapter 256 - 255: Better Than Your Biological Father
"Didn’t you insist on being with Ethan Grant back then?"
Claire Sullivan shifted the topic, smiling as she brought up Serena Sullivan and Ethan Grant.
She opposed Serena back then, for her own reasons, for the Grant Family’s, and for that man.
"Joel Quinn, whether he’s good or not, I know better than you!"
"What’s so good about him?" Serena asked discontentedly, "Claire Sullivan, he’s after your money."
"Are you sure he would fall in love with a woman with a child?"
Serena just wanted to strip away the truth and let Claire see everything clearly.
But those words immediately hit a nerve in Claire.
"Yes, I have a child!"
"Isn’t that child you?"
Claire angrily looked at Serena; her mind was muddled back then! Why did she give birth to the child!
Because it’s a daughter, he gave some money and then left.
How dare he! It was her who lost half her life giving birth to Serena, and also her who tried hard to raise Serena.
That man gave her an illusionary love and then just said he didn’t love her and told her to abort the child.
Upon learning she delivered the child, he hurried over and left again.
Hatred! That hatred and obsession have deeply infiltrated Claire’s bones, and tears unknowingly blurred her eyes, as she reached out to point at Serena’s detestable face.
Serena resembles her, but resembles him even more!
"Serena, it’s you! It’s you who ruined my happiness."
"Even if Joel Quinn is after my money, so what!"
"At least he’s a thousand times better than your biological father. He deceived me into having you, fooled me in every way, and finally kicked me away!"
Claire suddenly burst out, her eyes red and filled with anger. Serena didn’t speak, she silently raised her head and asked Claire, who was crying, softly, "Who is he!"
By "he," she’s referring to the man who abandoned Claire, her biological father.
Claire chuckled, she lowered her head to look at her well-maintained fingers, "He’s happily married with a complete family. If you know, it’ll only make your heart ache more."
"Serena, if you can accept Joel, we can still be mother and daughter. But if you insist on destroying my family, we..."
Claire wiped her tears away, looking at Serena’s cold face, her voice urgent, "What do you want from me!"
"Can’t you just take a step back?"
"Fine, you can be with Joel Quinn, I don’t object." Serena lowered her voice, speaking earnestly. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"But he must leave The Sullivan Corporation." Serena continued, "I will come to take over The Sullivan Corporation."
Or at least hire a professional manager to handle it.
"Serena!"
After the words fell, Claire retorted angrily, "You know well that Joel Quinn has put so much effort into The Sullivan Corporation, driving him out of there is like driving him away from my side."
"I won’t agree!"
Joel Quinn managing The Sullivan Corporation is something Claire tacitly approves; she knows this man is ambitious.
Even so, she doesn’t feel anything is wrong.
The man outside and the woman inside, this is the life she wants.
"If that’s the case, we have nothing more to talk about."
Serena pushed the soup bowl toward Claire, "Your soup, take it back!"
She pushed the bowl too forcefully, causing it to slip off the table and shatter on the floor.
Claire looked at the shards and spilled soup at her feet; she knew this was the outcome.
She and Serena have no way of returning to the original point, just like there’s no chance of her being with that man again.
Her heart was being emptied bit by bit! She opened her mouth to say something more, but didn’t know what to say anymore.
Claire held back the tears in her eyes, self-mockingly chuckled, "All my life, I’ve just wanted to be with the man I love, have a daughter and son, live peacefully and steadily."
"Ha ha!"
Claire let out a sound, laughed, unsure whether she’s laughing at herself or at how this simple wish has now become utterly shattered.
