Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 125 - : Don’t Try To Run
Chapter 125 - 125: Don’t Try To Run
Chantelle's eyes narrowed. "Are you planning to trade me for Lone Fox?"
It was the only explanation that she could think of. If they wanted to kill her, they would have done it already.
After all, she was surely among the important person on Lone Wolf's hit list.
"Hahaha! You got it right! I have to admit, you're smart. No wonder you won Daniel's heart."
The man in black let out a wild laugh and moved swiftly around Chantelle like a predator. His speed sent a wave of fear through her.
She couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't an ordinary human.
Maybe Lone Wolf had discovered a way to push human limits beyond normal.
His chilling laughter echoed in the night. Chantelle stayed on high alert and her heartbeat quickened while the man continued moving around her effortlessly.
"The video is ready. Do you want to watch it? I can make another one if you're not satisfied."
The sudden silence after his chuckle did nothing to calm Chantelle.
The man in black held the phone close to her face. His pale finger pressed the play button.
The screen showed Chantelle tied to a chair. Her eyes darted around, filled with fear.
A dark figure loomed nearby. It was hard to tell if it was a person, let alone get a good look at his face.
He had turned a simple thirty-second clip into a horror film.
But Chantelle wasn't scared anymore.
To her, the man in black was just a deranged artist with a twisted mind.
People like him didn't follow the rules. For all she knew, he might throw her off the roof.
She had to find a way out quickly.
"Not bad, but maybe you should quit videography," Chantelle said bluntly.
The man's expression darkened.
"Why? Isn't it good? Did I make you look bad? If that's the case, why don't you smile? I'll make another version."
He watched the video again, then glanced at her, as if judging his own work.
"You're a strange man. How am I supposed to smile when I'm tied up?" Chantelle snapped sternly to annoy him intentionally.
She leaned back against the chair, unconcerned about her appearance.
"You have a point. I'll untie you but don't try to run. If you do, I won't be happy when I catch you."
"Relax. I won't run. Just make sure I look good in the video, or I'll be mad."
She was only testing his level of insanity. She didn't expect him to agree so easily.
"No problem!" he said, grinning at her.
He loosened the ropes around Chantelle and gave her a taste of "freedom."
It felt unreal to Chantelle. She discreetly ran her fingers along the inner layer of her clothes to check if her devices were still intact. Then, she shifted her position, pretending to find a better angle for the man. Slowly, she moved toward the end of the roof.
"Great. I'll start the video now. Keep that smile going..."
The man in black lifted his phone, giving her pointers as if directing a scene.
Chantelle saw her chance. She immediately turned around and bolted like lightning struck. She then leaped off the roof without looking back.
Chantelle struggled to stay balanced as she fell.
She estimated the building to be over fifty meters tall. The night wind hit her face, making it hard to open her eyes.
The weather was clear, allowing her to see everything around her.
She scanned the ground below.
After finding a good landing spot, she pressed the third button on her blouse.
The parachute hidden in her blouse deployed.
It worked!
Chantelle let out a breath of relief as it opened.
Her clothes had been modified. A parachute was folded and sewn into the back of her blouse. The lightweight fabric concealed it well.
However, the thin material could not support much weight or cover a long distance.
The height between the roof and the ground wasn't too bad. If it had been higher, the fall could have been dangerous, even with a parachute.
Grateful for her luck, Chantelle gripped the parachute rope and prepared to land.
Just before she could descend safely, an arrow tore through the fabric, leaving a hole.
She lost control instantly.
With the air resistance broken, gravity pulled her down fast.
"Ah!" she screamed as she crashed to the ground with the parachute.
The fall was hard. Chantelle lay on the ground, wondering if she had broken any bones.
Before she could move, a pair of black leather boots appeared in her view.
"I was so nice to you, yet you tried to run. You're not a good girl," the man said.
He lifted her over his shoulder and carried her away.
Without warning, he shoved her into a truck parked by the road.
It was the cold storage compartment.
Chantelle's ears rang from the hard landing. She couldn't resist as she was thrown into the freezing storage unit.
"Since you won't play nice, let's change the rules," the man said. "At this temperature, you have about six hours to live. I'll call Mr. Wilson to save you here if he hands over my brother, Lone Fox. What do you think?"
He uttered lightly, but his eyes showed a deadly intent.
"Forget it. I'm useless as a bargaining chip for Daniel," Chantelle said, taking her time to sit up.
"We'll see about that," he chuckled. "Aren't you curious? Will Daniel come for you? How far will he go?"
Chantelle stayed silent.

She wrapped her arms around herself.
The cold inside the storage kept her mind clear.
Was she a weakness to Daniel?
She didn't care to find out. All she knew was that with her injuries, she wouldn't last six hours in the freezing storage.
"So, Lone Fox is your brother? Does that mean you're Lone Wolf?"
Chantelle pulled her collar tighter, trying to keep warm.
The man at the door smiled viciously and quickly shifted the conversation.
"Took you long enough, pretty lady. I thought you figured that out ages ago."
Then, Lone Wolf pulled out his phone and started recording a new video.
The cold storage made the perfect backdrop. Chantelle's helpless look on camera would pull at any man's heartstrings.
Lone Wolf grinned, pleased with himself. He believed no one could create a better setup than this.
"I'm sorry. I always thought Lone Wolf was some old man," Chantelle said. "He's never shown his face before. I didn't expect him to be a child."
She took a quick look around.
