Chapter 126 - 126: Find Her Immediately

Ice surrounded her. The only exit was the door.

Unfortunately, Lone Wolf blocked the way.

Once he finished recording, he would likely shut the door and leave her behind.

Time was running out.

"Who are you calling a child?" Lone Wolf frowned, clearly annoyed.

"I'm complimenting you on your youthful looks. Isn't that good enough?" Chantelle said. "Oh, Lone Wolf, I know where your brother is. How about I help him escape, and we go our separate ways? Sounds like a fair deal, doesn't it?"

She tested his reaction.

Lone Wolf didn't seem to care. He focused his attention on editing the video, without sparing her a glance.

"Oh, were you about to say that my brother is locked up in Philip Collins's lab in the Silver Crest Global District?"

"You already know?" Chantelle was stunned after hearing his statement.

"I told you—I know everything worth knowing in this world," Lone Wolf said confidently.

As they talked, he sent the video to Daniel.

"I just need leverage against Daniel," he added. "Here's some advice—stop struggling. You'll only get hurt. And honestly, I'd feel bad."

Silence filled the air.

Lone Wolf might have been playful and eccentric, but he was sharp.

Noticing this, Chantelle slowly moved her fingers away from her bracelet.

Her small trick did not escape from the eyes of one of the world's top ten killers.

The door to the cold storage slammed shut.

The temperature in the storage unit dropped rapidly.

The cold seeped into her bones. Her hands went numb in no time.

Daniel drove at full speed, with Kane beside him.

When they reached the last known location of Chantelle's phone signal, only her car was there.

Ashton was already searching the area with his team.

Seeing Daniel arrive, he approached to report their progress.

"Sir, we've searched everywhere, but we still can't find Ms. Bently," Ashton reported. "I saw someone suspicious on the surveillance footage."

He paused the video and zoomed in. The image revealed a man wearing a black cap, showing only his side profile.

Ashton recognized him.

During a previous mission, he had faced this man at the hairpin road, but the suspect managed to escape unharmed.

Since then, Ashton had been tracking him.

The moment he saw the man on the footage, he took a screenshot for reference.

All Ashton managed to find in the ten-minute footage was a barely visible side profile.

Still, the resemblance to a known killer was enough for him to report it to Daniel.

"The Hershey Hairpin killer?" Daniel muttered as he studied the screenshot. His chest tightened.

Did this man take Chantelle?

"Find her immediately. I want her back in an hour. I don't care what it takes!"

"Noted sir!"

Seeing Daniel's nervous expression, Ashton got to work immediately.

Daniel stared at the screenshot on the tablet. Panic consumed him.

This was his fault. All of it.

He knew a killer was out there. He knew Chantelle was a target. Yet, he had let his pride get in the way.

What if something happened to her? What would he do then?

The thought alone was unbearable. He couldn't watch her die again.

"What's wrong, Daddy? Did something happen to Mommy?"

Kane had been watching from the car. Noticing Daniel's troubled expression, he stepped out, grabbed his hand, and looked up at him worriedly.

"Kane... I think I made a mistake..."

"Is Mommy missing?"

Kane asked cautiously, a sinking feeling growing inside him.

Daddy had promised to take him to Mommy. But she wasn't here. All he saw was her empty car by the road.

This didn't feel right.

"Don't worry, Kane. I'll find your mommy! Just trust me, okay?"

Daniel leaned down and pulled Kane into his arms.

Daniel told everything to Kane carefully, like a child admitting to a mistake.

Kane rested against his shoulder and felt a slight tremor in his father's body.

"Okay. I trust you," Kane said softly, giving Daniel a gentle pat on the back.

He was worried about Mommy, but seeing Daddy like this hurt even more.

At that moment, he decided to be strong for his father.

Kane's mind raced with thoughts as he tried to find a way to track Mommy down.

Daniel found a brief moment of peace in his son's comfort. Just as he was about to resume the search, a notification popped up on his phone.

He unlocked it and saw two videos in his inbox.

After handing Kane over to Philip, who had arrived to help, Daniel stepped aside and clicked the video link.

His blood boiled the moment he saw Chantelle trapped in a freezing storage unit.

He almost crushed the phone in his hand.

Trying to control his anger, he dialed the number that sent the videos.

The call connected right away.

Lone Wolf's voice came through, filled with excitement.

"Long time no see, Mr. Wilson. Did you miss me?"

"Lone Wolf."

The moment Daniel saw the encrypted number, he suspected Lone Wolf's men were involved. But he hadn't expected the man himself to be behind it all.

"If anything happens to Chantelle, you won't leave Easthan alive," Daniel said coldly, gripping his phone.

"Relax, Mr. Wilson. The pretty lady has six more hours. No need to get your panties in a bunch."

Daniel's voice hardened. "What do you want?"

"Are you really willing to give me whatever I want?"

"As long as you're alive to take it."

"Gee, we're old friends. Why so serious? You're making me nervous. When I'm nervous, my hands slip on the wheel... and that wouldn't be good for the person in the vehicle."

"Oh, really?" Daniel gritted his teeth. "If that person is in danger, things won't end well for you—or your brother rotting in that lab. We both have leverage, so cut the bullshit and get to the point."

His tone dripped with bloodlust.

At the same time, Daniel sent an order to Ashton using his backup phone.

Lone Wolf had unknowingly given him a clue. Chantelle was likely trapped in the freezer unit of a moving truck.

He had to find her fast.

"In that case, I'll get straight to the point. I want all your shares in Wilson Group of Companies."

"Oh?" Daniel's voice was filled with mockery. "I thought you cared more about saving your brother's life."
