Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 100 - : I’ll Buy You Drink
Chapter 100 - 100: I’ll Buy You Drink
Chantelle felt a wave of despair consume her.
"Stay calm, Ms. Bently. The person who could identify the killer may be gone, but the killer is still out there."
The words sank in.
That was true. The killer was still alive.
If no one else could reveal the truth, then she would do it herself.

Daniel left Western Hill Villa and drove to Wilson Group of Companies.
But no matter how much he tried to focus, he couldn't shake off the image of Chantelle's teardrop out of his thoughts.
All day, an unshakable anxiety bothered him. Even breathing felt heavy as if his chest was being crushed.
For the first time, he really thought about the pain Chantelle must have endured during their marriage.
Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even notice Philip standing right in front of him.
"What's on your mind, Daniel? You didn't even see me! Am I invisible to you? That hurts my feelings!"
Daniel snapped out of his thoughts and his mood worsened.
"What are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here? I came to treat your wound. I told you to come to me, but you refused. I don't want to deal with an infection in the middle of the night. I'm not getting any younger, and those late-night emergencies might kill me sooner..."
Philip placed the medical kit on the coffee table.
Daniel wanted to refuse, but Philip had a point.
With a sigh, he walked over to the sofa and sat down.
Accepting his fate, Daniel let Philip tend to his wound.
"Don't make that face like I'm forcing myself on you. You're making me blush," Philip teased him while pressing a gauze against Daniel's skin with an exaggeratedly bashful look.
Daniel was tempted to land a punch on him.
"Get lost!"

"Whoa, that temper! You sound energetic. I'd say you're recovering well."
"You're extra chatty today, Philip. Can you shut up?" Daniel wasn't in the mood for his rambling.
Noticing his irritation, Philip skipped the small talk and quickly finished redressing the wound.
The injury was deep and had taken a second hit. The only reason Daniel was still moving around was his sheer willpower and physical strength.
Anyone else with this injury would be stuck in bed, whether the doctor ordered it or not.
Daniel was in good shape, but even his body couldn't handle constant blows. He needed time to recover.
Their lab had recently developed a drug that could heal injuries in just three days.
Philip had even postponed his dates just to check on Daniel as he was worried about his condition.
After finishing the treatment, Philip grabbed two beers from the fridge without asking and tossed one to Daniel.
"I'm a patient, and you're giving me alcohol? Did you forget you're a doctor?"
"Oh, so you do know you're a patient? You look so miserable, I thought you didn't want to recover."
Philip's smart remark earned him a can toss his way.
Catching it dramatically, he clutched it to his chest and rolled on the floor.
"I'm hurt, Daniel. Ow..."
Daniel's patience wore thin. Veins popped on his forehead as he watched Philip put on his over-the-top act.
Desperate, he stood up and bent down to pull him up.
"Come on. I'll buy you a drink."
"Great!"

Even though dawn was near, Enchanteur Bar was still buzzing with energy.
Kate had consumed too much alcohol. She gripped the door frame for support, trying to walk straight as she stumbled out of the bar.
Jerry was even worse—completely wasted. His heavy frame leaned against Kate's small body as they staggered forward.
As they neared the exit, Kate tripped over the door sill, nearly dragging them both down.
In his drunken haze, Jerry panicked. Instinctively, he swung his hand and slapped the person next to him.
"Watch where you're going! If you make me fall, you'll pay for it!"
"I'm sorry. It was my fault. I wasn't watching my step..."
Despite the anger boiling inside her, Kate kept up her act.
Jerry, still dazed, finally recognized her. Realizing what he had done, he quickly pulled her into his arms and tried to smooth things over.
"I forgot you were holding me, darling. My bad. Don't be upset. That slap must've hurt. Let me make it up to you."
His thick hands roamed over her body.
Right there in an open place, without her consent, he shamelessly squeezed her breast.
Embarrassment and anger burned inside Kate as she cursed the drunken fool in her head.
"You're drunk, Jerry. Let me hold you up. Don't fall... Um, do you remember promising to invest in Bently Corporation?"
She wasn't about to let him off easily, not after everything she had endured. Now was the perfect time to secure the deal while he was too wasted to think.
"No problem. How much do you need? Just write down any number you want."
The alcohol had wiped out the last of Jerry's awareness.
He took his phone out of his pocket and tapped it several times before finally unlocking it.
Jerry fiddled with his phone for a while before handing it to Kate.
The screen showed a bank transfer page.
Kate was excited.
She quickly entered her bank account details in the payee section.
As for the amount, she made sure to double-check, just in case Jerry tried to back out later.
"Jerry, my family's finances are in serious trouble. I need at least three hundred million dollars to save the business, so..."
"That's fine! Three hundred million dollars? No big deal."
Kate helped Jerry sit down on the steps outside the bar.
She had planned to get the money while he was still conscious, then take him home afterward.
"Really? You're so good to me, Jerry."
A hundred million was enough to get the Bently family back on track, but Kate added two hundred million more for herself. She was surprised Jerry agreed so easily!
It was the best news Kate could have hoped for.
Excited, she entered three hundred million dollars.
When the payment page appeared, it asked for a password or facial recognition to continue.
Unfortunately, Jerry had passed out.
With no other choice, Kate pried open his eyelids and completed the facial recognition.
The fund transfer was loading...
Kate imagined her grand return as a socialite in Easthan.
The intense excitement sobered her up. Soon, the page quickly refreshed and a clear message popped up.
Sorry, you have insufficient funds to complete the transaction.
Kate stared at the message and barely held her anger that was about to explode.
