Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 66: Little Wolf’s Request
After that provocation, Jojo began hurling insults at him; calling him a demon, saying he wasn’t gentle, and insisting that he wasn’t his father, all because he had a pair of crimson eyes.
No, he wasn’t provoked by his own son, that would be ridiculous. But the words still vexed him.
Jojo didn’t know the pain Kael had endured just to keep him alive. The boy also didn’t understand the agony of severing his bond with his fated mate. He did all for Jojo’s safety and future.
Yet here he was, standing bravely in front of his own father, protecting that damned witch as if she were the most important person in the world.
’He must be mind-controlled by this witch,’ Kael thought as he slowly extended his arms. ’I’ll torture her later and make her break the spell.’
He intended to grab Jojo first, to ensure his son wouldn’t run away again. He was also already considering discipline as he had no idea what kind of influence Sisi and Marik had exposed Jojo to, so a discipline might be necessary later.
However, just as his fingers were about to touch Jojo’s head, Sisi suddenly sprang up. She yanked Jojo behind her with all her strength, shielding him with her body.
She snatched up the dagger again and attacked Kael without hesitation.
Aiming straight for his chest, she thrust the blade forward—
—and succeeded.
But the result wasn’t what she expected.
She thought the monster would writhe in pain and collapse. Instead, he merely looked down at her as if she were an insignificant insect.
"Are you done?" he asked.
Kael pulled the dagger from his chest and tossed it aside. The skin where he had been stabbed healed almost instantly, "You can’t harm me like that. You’re just wasting your time, witch."
He seized her wounded arm and flung her away like a ragdoll. Sisi rolled across the snow before crashing into a tree trunk and finally lost her consciousness.
"SISI!" Jojo screamed.
He snarled at his father and lunged, trying to bite Kael’s neck. But no matter how hard he tried, the skin felt like solid stone. Kael watched his son’s futile effort with contempt.
"Why are you trying to kill your own father?" Kael asked as he wrapped his arms around Jojo.
The boy struggled wildly—biting, clawing, sobbing—tears streaming down his cheeks as he continued to call his own father a demon.
At first, Kael was patient, but his patience was wearing thin.
For nearly a year, he had fantasized about this reunion. He imagined Jojo running toward him, clinging to him, crying about the injustice of their separation.
He had even considered retiring early as Beast King, abandoning power altogether to travel with Jojo. He had never truly liked authority, it was the Dusk Star curse that fueled his hunger for dominance and battle.
But reality was nothing like his fantasy.
Jojo threw tantrums, attacking him with killing intent, even though Kael had done nothing to harm him.
Worse still, the boy was far more attached to a random witch he had only known for a short time.
’Then retiring is pointless,’ Kael thought grimly. ’Jojo is too easily influenced. I need to instill power and fear, so no one ever dares to kidnap him again.’
Jojo’s struggle eventually slowed as exhaustion and a pounding headache set in. His cries echoed through the forest as he looked at Sisi lying motionless on the ground.
"Are you finished?" Kael asked calmly, though his voice was icy. He was exhausted. All he wanted was to take Jojo to a cave, warm him up, and rest. "If you’re done, then stop crying, Jojo."
"You—demon! Demon Daddy! You hurt Sisi! Waaaaah!" Jojo wailed, even louder than before.
Kael winced as Jojo’s cries pierced his ears.
Still, he felt oddly relieved. At least Jojo was acting like a child now, not a feral beastman fueled by rage—something no four-year-old should be. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Yet seeing him like this also hurt.
Softening his tone, Kael asked, "Do you really like that woman, Jojo? She’s a witch. Haven’t I told you that no witch is good?"
"I don’t care!" Jojo shouted. "Sisi is good! She—she saved me, fed me, hugged me to sleep! She is my Sisi!"
He looked back at her pale body, and his cries intensified.
Trying to slip from Kael’s grasp, Jojo struggled again. Not wanting to squeeze his son, Kael finally released him.
Jojo immediately rushed to Sisi.
With his tiny hands, he tried to lift and drag her, despite her being far larger and far heavier than him.
"What are you trying to do?" Kael asked, frowning as he watched.
"I want to find a cave!" Jojo declared with determination. "Sisi... she’s cold. She’ll die if she doesn’t get warm!"
...
Kael was surprised. Jojo had never shown this level of kindness before.
Jojo had always been innocent and kind, but that was simply the nature of a toddler who had yet to learn the evil of this world.
But this time was different.
His determination didn’t come from innocence alone.
It came from love.
He truly loved this witch.
Kael decided to simply observe. Perhaps once Jojo realized he couldn’t save her, he would give up and move on.
After all, it had only taken nine months for Jojo to forget his own father and start calling him "Demon Daddy."
Surely, he would abandon this woman within an hour, right?
Jojo clenched his teeth as he struggled to pull Sisi along. He shifted between wolf and beastman forms repeatedly, searching for strength, but she was still too heavy.
He slipped and fell several times, his palms numb and wet with snow, and made it impossible to grab Sisi now.
Staring at Sisi’s pale face—her lips bluish, her eyes tightly shut—panic flooded him.
"No... Sisi... Sisi will—"
The realization struck hard.
He was about to cry again when the crimson-eyed demon spoke.
"It’s time to leave, Jojo. Come. I’ll find a cave for us."
Jojo turned toward him.
The demon still wore his father’s face, and now even his gentle smile. But seeing him made Jojo felt nothing but fear and disgust. He was convinced this man wasn’t his father.
But he also remembered the demon’s power, and it gave him an idea.
Jojo stood up, ran to Kael, and asked timidly,
"D-demon Daddy... c-can you... can you save Sisi?"
