Chapter 262: Chapter 262: In the Palm of Her Hand (IV)

"Ah, it’s been too long since I’ve released my full power," Kael said as he cracked his neck. He slowly shifted into his black wolf form, and the moment he finished shifting, the dark aura coming from his body exploded even more, to the point that everyone from afar could see the thick dark cloud rising to the sky. "If only Sisi could see me in this state, will she swoon over me? She doesn’t seem to be the type to fawn over overwhelming strength though."

Kael sighed thinking of his beloved and his son. She was right, he had to finish this battle sooner, not because he disliked war and bloodshed, but because he couldn’t wait to reunite with his family and have dinner together.

Kael remembered that Sisi said she’d leave some leftover chicken soup for him.

Groowl...

Kael clicked his tongue. Now I’m hungry on top of angry. Tsk, I have to finish this quickly.

Kael sucked a lot of air into his lungs and then howled as the war cry for the soldiers of the Beast Kingdom to finally begin the real war!

AWOOOOOO!!!!

"Your Highness, cover your nose. This stench in the air is making everyone sick! Some soldiers who inhaled too much of the stench are convulsing on the ground before dying slowly. Those who inhaled little by little are fine, but the stench gives them headaches!" the general reported to Crown Prince Ludwig.

"Where’s Marik? He should come with a good strategy! He—" Ludwig had no time to finish his sentence before one painful scream after another began filling the air.

They all turned their heads at the same time and saw the vultures flying above them and beginning to rain scorching hot rocks from above.

It was hot enough to actually melt their metal plates, so if the soldiers didn’t die immediately after getting struck by the rock, they would die eventually because the rock would melt through their armor.

The flying squirrels snatched the bayonets like what happened in the skirmish, while the elephants, stags, and rhinoceroses charged straight into the formation fearlessly.

Once the human soldiers were scattered and distracted by the stench and the collective effort from the beastmen, the predators finally stepped in: cheetahs, panthers, wolves, eagles, and other predators picked off the soldiers one by one like the true predators they were.

However, the most terrifying one was the big black wolf with a black-as-ink aura surrounding his body. His crimson eyes glinted maliciously as he killed so many soldiers in a flash, to the point that Ludwig’s eyes couldn’t follow his movement at all.

Seeing the human soldiers begin to fall one by one without much effort, Crown Prince Ludwig’s mind recalled the traumatic event during the skirmish, with everyone killed by the beastmen mercilessly.

Now he had brought fifteen thousand soldiers, but how could they look so powerless against these savage beastmen?!

Crown Prince Ludwig was about to give an order to make a defensive formation, but his eyes accidentally met the black wolf with shining crimson eyes.

Those pairs of crimson eyes struck fear into his heart, making him unable to think clearly.

He began imagining himself getting mauled to death by that black wolf and having his head hung at the kingdom’s main gate, just like what the Beast King had said before.

The generals were wary of the situation, and seeing the black wolf massacring everyone so quickly also struck fear into their hearts. They didn’t know what to do and turned to their leader at the same time.

"Your Highness, what should we—"

Unfortunately, the moment they wanted to check on their Crown Prince, he had already pulled the rein of his horse and turned around.

He whipped his horse and ran away immediately from the battlefield.

"Y-Your Highness!""Noo! Your Highness, don’t run away!""Go after him! Protect the Crown Prince!"

The camp was in chaos as they were missing their leader.

Meanwhile, Crown Prince Ludwig was consumed by fear to the point that he quickly abandoned his soldiers.

’It’s okay, Ludwig, your father loves you the most. At best, you’ll be exiled for failing this war, but your life is precious! You absolutely cannot die here!’ Ludwig told himself as he tried to escape through the woods. He was reminded of the monster with crimson eyes, and he shuddered in fear. ’W-what kind of monster was that?! How could the gods allow a monster like that to roam the earth?!’

Little did he know, everything was working right under Sisi’s palm, because she learned from the information provided by Grishaw that the Crown Prince ran away after seeing his troops getting massacred.

"And that’s all we need to do. Let’s go back to the main building and have some more snacks while waiting for the Beast King to return with good news, shall we?" Sisi invited Ruela with a smile.

She was still carrying Jojo, who happily ate the last persimmon the tree gave before sacrificing its life for the good of the Beast Kingdom.

That giant Rafflesia should be enough to distract them all. Though some were definitely dead at this point, because inhaling too much of that stench without the antidote was a death sentence.

However, right when Sisi was about to turn around, she froze when she sensed something wrong in the air.

Crush Tutu, who had been sitting on top of Jojo’s head, also sensed it and said, "Darling, there are so many people approaching us, and from their aura... they are... uhm... humans!"

Sisi’s eyes peered suspiciously, looking at her surroundings, and then she saw a silhouette approaching.

"Mistress!" Garou was the first to react when a dagger was thrown towards her direction.

Garou caught the dagger midair skillfully and tossed it onto the ground. His eyes turned sharp as he commanded the palace guards around them, "Protect the Mistress and Crown Prince!"

In a flash, all the guards gathered around Sisi, Jojo, and Ruela, while the maids rushed back to their headquarters to protect themselves from harm.

However, none of them looked nervous. Sisi was still smiling, Jojo ate persimmon with relish. Only Ruela looked somewhat nervous but was still able to keep her calm.

Sisi’s smile deepened as she murmured:

"Everything is in the palm of my hand, including you, Marik."
