Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Not Your Uncle

"Don’t you think so, Marik?" Sisi said before she turned her head to the left, staring at a tall "human" whom she saved from a death sentence back then.

He came with at least twenty skilled assassins, alongside Leah who had also lost her beastmen features after drinking the secret potion from Jing Forest.

"Oh, Uncle! Where have you been?" Jojo’s golden eyes brightened when he saw his Uncle Marik after a long time. "Why are you here, Uncle? Do you want to play with me?"

Marik noticed the pair of golden eyes and clenched his fists silently. Those golden eyes were the sign that Jojo had awakened his power, and though he had no control over it for now, he’d eventually grow up to become the Dawn Star, the bane of Roc Forest who would massacre countless creatures.

He had already considered Jojo a lost cause, since it was impossible to separate Jojo from Kael.

But now with him already awakening his curse, it was practically impossible for Marik to bring Jojo with them to Jing Forest.

In fact, it’d be good if he could kill Jojo. But even a bastard like him still had some heart that made him unable to lay his hand on the boy he raised.

"Mistress, that’s him!" Garou yelled while pointing at Marik. "It’s him who killed the human merchant and also attacked Sir Vestor!"

"As expected," Sisi nodded. She shifted her gaze towards Leah and then at Ruela. "I had also expected him to be the one freeing our death-row convict, because he’s the only one who has the ability to bypass all the guards in the palace to take her out of the underground prison."

Leah stuck her tongue out towards Ruela and Sisi. "That’s because Marik likes me more than you two. He’s very smart. He knows which one is worthy of his attention. And that woman is obviously me!"

"Is that so?" Sisi grinned and turned towards Marik. "Do you think so, Marik?"

Marik’s heart began to race as Sisi smiled at him. He knew that she was mocking him for saving Leah, but he didn’t care.

Seeing her smile was like seeing a river in the desert. It quenched his thirst temporarily, but now he wanted more.

However, he also knew that it was a provocation, so Leah would be angry and try to betray him during this situation. So he ignored it.

"I don’t want bloodshed, Sisi. If you surrender yourself and come with me, then nobody will be hurt," Marik said.

"What if I refuse?" Sisi asked boldly.

Marik’s gaze darkened. "Then I will have to take you by force."

"Grrhhh!" Garou unsheathed his claws, ready to maul the bastard who dared to create chaos in the Beast Kingdom and severely injured Sir Vestor. "You will never get near my Mistress and Lady Ruela!"

Ruela gasped when Garou mentioned her name. She knew that Garou was infatuated with Mistress Sisi, so she didn’t expect much from him.

But seeing him glaring at Marik and Leah made her realize that Garou still cared for her safety.

Sisi smiled hearing that statement. "We will see if you can even touch me, Marik. Because so far, the enemies that you bring to attack my husband’s kingdom are not a match against him."

Marik almost lost control when Sisi addressed Kael as her husband. He didn’t care if Sisi and Kael were truly fated, because in the end, he would be the winner who’d own Sisi’s body and heart!

Jojo tilted his head when he heard the tense conversation between Marik and Sisi. He didn’t understand what was happening, since the last time he met Uncle Marik, he was still a good uncle who protected him and taught him how to hunt.

"Uncle, what’s wrong with you? Why do you look angry at Sisi?" the boy asked. Then he turned to Sisi. "Sisi, can I play with Uncle? I want to go on a hunt with him again!"

Sisi regretted giving Marik a second chance back then, but at that time, Marik was still Jojo’s godfather. If Jojo saw his own father killing his godfather, he might never recover from it and hate Kael forever.

She tightened her arm around Jojo’s body. "That’s not the same uncle that loves you, Jojo."

"Ah?" Jojo looked at Marik again and his golden eyes widened. "Oh! Uncle, where are your tail and ears!? Are you really not my uncle?"

Marik couldn’t be bothered by Jojo at this point, since he was a liability. All he wanted was to take Sisi with him and leave immediately.

Since he had no time to waste, he ordered his men, "Target the beautiful mistress! Make sure to capture her alive... and kill the rest."

"Yes!"

"I won’t let you!" Garou yelled before kicking an assassin who charged towards them.

The fight between the beastmen guards and Marik’s assassins broke out. Though Marik only brought twenty of them, they proved themselves to be so powerful that they were evenly matched despite the difference in numbers.

Ruela, Jojo, and Sisi were staying close as they didn’t want to get targeted, while Garou was protecting them.

"Sisi, if that’s a demon, then where is the real Uncle Marik?" Jojo asked.

"He... he left for Jing Forest, Jojo," Sisi replied. Though it was a lie, Sisi liked to believe that the sane Marik had already left for Jing Forest and started a new life there, letting go of the past and having peaceful days while going in and out of human civilization to study many things, since Marik told her that he liked to discover new knowledge and thus traveled a lot.

That was the man that she saved from Kael’s execution, not this selfish bastard who had actually killed so many people just to get his revenge on Kael.

And Sisi also wanted Jojo to think of his uncle fondly despite not being able to see him anymore.

"Mm! No wonder this uncle is so evil! He’s just a demon we need to kill!" Jojo stated.
