Chapter 260: Chapter 260: In the Palm of Her Hand (II)

[Song Recommendation: OxT - Hollow Hunger.]

However, Kael was not provoked at all. He lifted one hand to signal his fellow beastmen to shut their mouths and spoke to this cocky Crown Prince in front of him:

"You sound cocky for someone who’s about to become maggots’ lunch. This battlefield will be your grave."

The way Kael delivered it with absolute calmness actually rattled Crown Prince Ludwig. He didn’t know if the Beast King was that absurdly strong, or if he was just bluffing, but there was no way he could fight against thirteen thousand armed men with only one thousand beastmen at his disposal.

"Hmph, let’s see who will cry and beg in the end. Just so you know, Beast King, I will turn you into my male concubine once you lose this war."

"And I’ll hang your head at the top of the gate while feeding your body to vultures and maggots," Kael replied.

Ludwig gritted his teeth. He pulled the rein of his horse and forced it to turn around. "Let’s show them the will of humanity!"

"RAAAARRGHHH!"

The human soldiers’ war cry echoed through Roc Forest, shaking the ground with their metal boots as they trampled through the plants they crossed.

Kael scoffed. "I was stupid for getting serious about this war. Their leader is nothing but a weak human."

He turned around to face his soldiers and said, "Decimate them."

"YES, MY KING!"

Crown Prince Ludwig returned to the back of the formation, watching from a hill as the war was about to break out.

He frowned because Marik was nowhere to be seen. "Where’s Marik?" he asked his general.

"He said that he’ll be observing from afar, Your Highness. Since he has no fighting capability, it is unsafe for him to get too close to the battlefield."

"Doesn’t matter. He has done a great job by providing us with a good strategy," Ludwig said. "It’s time, General. Siege them from all directions!"

"Yes, Your Highness!"

Another war cry was heard from all directions of the Beast Kingdom.

Ludwig laughed seeing all the soldiers who surrounded the Beast Kingdom entirely, making sure that everyone was trapped inside that capital city.

"Leave the Beast King alive. I have never had a male concubine before, and he is perfect for that position," Crown Prince Ludwig said. "Let’s see if—"

"Y-y-your Highness! This is bad!" one general rushed from the battlefield to his direction. "The enemies—they have anticipated our move!"

"What?!"

"These beastmen have anticipated our attack from the flanks. They had prepared about a thousand soldiers to sneak into our ranks from all directions and cause chaos by attacking them all! Now the formation from all other sides is a mess!"

"Why are you worried over another thousand beastmen? Just kill them all and proceed with our plan!"

The general hesitated but still nodded in the end and instructed, "ARCHERS, FIRE!"

**

"My King, the rest of the soldiers have sneaked into enemy formations from all other directions and killed many of them. It’s hard for them to keep their formation!" Zuri, the cheetah queen, reported.

"Good," Kael grinned. "All according to my beloved’s plan. Continue with our plan."

"Yes, My King!"

Right when they said that, thousands of arrows were launched all at the same time towards their direction, but the beastmen weren’t scared at all.

"Tringgi! Get your men ready!" Kael commanded Tringgi, the leader of the armadillo beastmen, to get in formation.

"Understood, My King!" Tringgi turned towards his fellow armadillo beastmen and yelled:

"Wall Formation!"

Thus, in a matter of seconds, all the armadillo beastmen jumped on top of each other’s bodies steadily and then shifted into their beast form quickly, using their impossible-to-penetrate shells to protect all beastmen soldiers from the archers’ attack.

Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!

All the arrows were deflected the moment they touched the hard armadillo shells.

"What the—" Crown Prince Ludwig couldn’t believe what he saw just now. The way there was a sudden tall wall made out of armadillo beastmen rendered all the archers ineffective.

The general told the archers to halt and wait until that impenetrable armadillo wall crumbled, but they stayed on the spot, and the soldiers from the Beast Kingdom didn’t show any sign of attacking.

"What should we do, Your Highness? Should we continue with the attack?"

Ludwig gritted his teeth. "Keep firing with the archers and prepare the ballista! Those armadillos will surely crumble after getting hit with ballista bolts!"

"Yes, Sir!"

**

"My King, how long are we going to stay in defensive formation?" Grishaw asked. "The scouts have spotted ballista being prepared. Our wall formation might crumble if we let them be!"

"Fret not. All we are waiting for is the signal from the Queen," Kael said, smiling while thinking of Sisi and Jojo, who were still relaxing inside the Queen’s courtyard. "She has this war in her hand."

**

"Are you sure that we don’t need to do anything, Mistress?" Ruela asked anxiously. "There is a big war that will determine our future, while we are here... sipping tea..."

Sisi giggled. She fed Jojo a spoonful of forest chicken soup since the weather today was especially chilly and windy, and staying in the pavilion inside the Queen’s courtyard garden wasn’t truly the best thing to do.

They could’ve just rested inside the main building, but it was Sisi who told everyone to gather around the courtyard garden, and nobody dared to raise an objection, since they all knew that Mistress Sisi was already the Queen of the Beast Kingdom despite not holding the official title yet.

"Don’t worry, Big Sis Ruela! Daddy told me that it’s not a big deal, and Sisi told me we can just relax here!" Jojo claimed while happily nibbling on a forest chicken bone.

"But—"

"Everything is according to my plan, Ruela," Sisi said calmly. "I know that humans like to play dirty, so I told Kael that they will try to attack from all directions and aim to massacre everyone in the capital. It’s better to split the soldiers into two battalions and send the beastmen with effective assassination skills, such as the snake and chameleon beastmen, to sneak into their formation and kill each of their leaders, so those soldiers who attack from other sides except the front will be scattered and the Beast Kingdom will be safe."
