Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 218: Jojo’s New Friends (II)
Sisi was laughing happily while spoon-feeding the boy. But what Jojo didn’t see were the tears she tried so hard to hold back.
The faerie elders and Kael saw how the Darling of the Earth was trying her best to sound happy so the boy wouldn’t notice something amiss while he was playing with the faeries.
It was obvious that she didn’t want to be separated from Jojo. But the request from Grandma Tree was to bring their darling back after fulfilling her request, and the faeries desperately needed their darling back before everyone fell apart due to not having a leader for too long.
Sisi silently wiped the tears that were about to fall, and then asked, "There must be a way to cure Jojo’s blindness, right? I’m sure Grandma Tree sent you because it knows how to deal with this problem."
"Sisi, who is Grandma Tree?" Jojo asked.
"It’s my own grandma, and basically your great-grandmother."
"Oh! I have a grandma too?! Wow!" Jojo beamed again; this morning kept getting better and better!
"Mhm, I’ll take you to visit later, alright?"
"Un!"
Honestly, the elders had no idea that they would be healing the Dawn Star’s blindness. Healer Roro and General Gugu were sent because the elders thought that their darling was being imprisoned by the cursed beings.
Luckily, Healer Roro was knowledgeable in all kinds of medicine, including this one... if the method would actually work, of course.
Healer Roro flew toward her darling’s ear and whispered, "Darling, we need to talk more privately, because the information that I have is confidential."
Sisi understood that the faeries were wary of Kael and Jojo, even if Jojo was just an ignorant boy. But the fact that he could grow up to become a menacing man like Kael was enough to scare the faeries.
So she gently patted Jojo’s head and told Kael to bring him for a walk.
"Now, mind telling me if there’s a cure for my boy?" Sisi asked.
"Darling, the problem with his blindness is that it’s not caused by any illness or injury. It’s... innate," Healer Roro said. "I was pretty young when I saw the Dawn Star of the previous era, but he did have a pair of golden pupils just like Jojo. But the Dawn Star of the previous era could see just fine. Maybe it is a process until Jojo turns into a Dawn Star eventually, just as his fate has been preordained."
"I know that it is innate; his father also told me the same thing. But forcing him to go blind for an unknown amount of time is too cruel, so I want to heal him."
Healer Roro paused for a while, then said, "There is no such thing as medicine for blindness that is innate, darling. Even the abundance of medicine in Roc Forest will not do anything. But... there is one thing that we can try."
"Roro, are you sure?" General Gugu interrupted.
"Gugu, she is our darling. Every faerie secret is her secret as well. Every inch of soil in Roc Forest wants her to step on it. The wind and waves want to be her friends. We simply cannot forbid her to do anything she wants," Healer Roro said. "But I hope that you are willing to protect the secret I am about to tell you, darling, because you have the responsibility to protect Roc Forest."
"... I promise."
Healer Roro believed that their darling didn’t have bad intentions. After all, she was the embodiment of Mother Nature, and she had a strong motherly instinct, just like how she wanted to take care of the Dawn Star.
"Darling, we can try washing his golden eyes with the water from the Origin Spring. It’s a faerie spring located inside the heart of Grandma Tree. None of us can enter the heart of the ancient tree, but the darling can," Healer Roro explained. "Back then, the previous darling—or your late mother—took some water from the spring and gave it to a male human to save his life because he was assassinated by his fellow companion, and it worked."
"All of his broken bones, bleeding heart, and even his unrecognizable face were fully healed. All the adult faeries and the elders witnessed the miracle. But your mother told us that the water from Origin Spring is not to be used freely, as the water can only be taken by someone in love—be it love between lovers, parents and their children, or between two people with a strong bond."
Sisi picked up the hint from Healer Roro immediately. "So, that man my late mother saved is..."
General Gugu and Healer Roro looked at their darling with solemn expressions and nodded at the same time.
"Your father, darling."
Sisi gasped audibly. She didn’t expect that her guess was true. Prior to meeting the faerie elders, she had guessed that her father must be a human, because her mother was the previous Darling of the Earth, who should be a faerie.
"We... we cannot tell more than this, darling. It’s wiser for Grandma Tree to tell the rest to you," General Gugu said. "But you should know that we, the faeries, cannot retrieve the water from Origin Spring. It’s only you who can do it."
"So you have to go with us to the faerie land to retrieve it," Healer Roro added. "That is the only method we can try if you want to restore the Dawn Star’s vision."
This development was out of her expectations. She thought the faerie elders would come up with a medicine, and she’d tell Kael to send his soldiers to retrieve whatever ingredients were needed for it.
Since she had to go to the faerie land, then what about Jojo?
"We cannot bring any human or beastman into the faerie land, especially the Dusk Star," General Gugu added just to make sure that their darling knew the circumstances.
"Then what about Jojo? Can he come with me?"
