Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Trio Faeries Set Off for a Journey!

"Okay!" Bold Dodo agreed without hesitation, staring at Crush Tutu innocently. "When will we go?"

"Oh—tonight!" Crush Tutu was caught off guard by Bold Dodo’s quick ’yes’ at first, but she was really glad that Dodo trusted her without question.

After all, the three of them had been friends ever since they were tiny sprites born from Grandma Tree’s petals. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Okay, Dodo! We will gather here at night and then set off on our journey to find our Darling. Got it?"

"Mm!" Bold Dodo nodded. "I will pack enough food for us."

"I don’t think we need food. It’s already spring, and we can just eat flower nectar," Crush Tutu said thoughtfully. "You should pack essentials, like... mm... okay, we only need food, I guess."

"Mm, see you tonight, Tutu!" Bold Dodo rushed back to his home and began packing.

Once Crush Tutu had made plans with her friends, she returned home and started packing as well. Elder Toto wouldn’t be home until late at night, as he was busy with all the spring preparations.

Thus, Crush Tutu wrote a letter on a small leaf and placed it on Elder Toto’s bed.

She stared at her grandpa’s bed and sighed. "I’ll be back with our Darling, Grandpa. Please trust me."

With that, Crush Tutu left and met her friends at the entrance of the Faerie Land—a small tunnel that could only fit one faerie at a time.

Usually, there would be a guard stationed outside, but all the soldiers had been dispatched to find their Darling, making it even easier for the trio to sneak out.

Jan Keke and Bold Dodo were already waiting at the entrance and waved at Crush Tutu as she approached.

"Tutu, Dodo and I will follow you because we know your intentions are good," Jan Keke said, speaking as the oldest of the three. "But this is a very dangerous journey, so I hope you are prepared."

Crush Tutu nodded. "This is for my grandpa and for the faeries. It’s been too long since we had a leader, and the faeries have grown increasingly restless. They don’t want to obey my grandpa anymore."

"Alright then, let’s go!"

Thus, the three little faeries left the Faerie Land through the tunnel and began their journey through the dangerous Roc Forest.

Meanwhile, Kael stood tall and imposing in front of Garou, the young panther whose life he had spared not long ago.

He didn’t know what this bastard wanted. Showing up in the Queen’s courtyard without invitation was an offense that deserved punishment.

Yet the young panther showed no fear. He lowered his posture humbly before the Beast King, silently acknowledging Kael’s strength—but his words were anything but humble.

"My King, I believe I have been very rude toward our future queen," Garou said boldly. "So I wish to dedicate myself to protecting her. I do not mind becoming Mistress Sisi’s personal bodyguard, or even guarding her chamber."

Kael took a deep breath and crossed his arms. He looked down at the young man and asked coldly, "Why would I allow a man like you to linger around my future bride? Do you think I am an idiot?"

Garou fell silent.

His instincts screamed that if he dared to speak the truth about his feelings before the Beast King, he wouldn’t leave with his head intact—even if Mistress Sisi begged for mercy.

Faced with silence, Kael grew increasingly irritated and roared, "ANSWER ME!"

"I do not think you are an idiot, My King. You are wise and powerful," Garou replied sincerely. "But I still wish to serve Mistress Sisi in any way I can. It is my duty to repay my life debt, since she saved me from execution."

Kael clenched his teeth.

He knew Garou was young and undoubtedly enamored with Sisi’s beauty, especially after receiving a warm smile from her.

But Kael couldn’t kill Garou when the man hadn’t admitted to anything. All he wanted was to serve Mistress Sisi.

If Kael killed him over that alone, he would be crossing a line. Even if he was a monster, he was not an unreasonable one.

At first, he planned to kick Garou out of the courtyard and ban him from entering.

But then, he remembered the words of that unassuming maid who served Sisi.

"I only thought... sometimes, feelings can sprout the moment two pairs of eyes meet, even just once."

Kael had initially brushed it off.

But Sisi and Garou had shared a brief yet intense eye contact after she saved him from a death sentence.

Obviously, Garou was enamored.

Then... what about Sisi?

She had never shown Kael even the slightest hint of affection. In fact, it was already a miracle that she didn’t despise him.

’But would she be seduced by a younger man?’ Kael thought as he stared at the kneeling panther. ’Garou should be closer to her age than I am...’

’What if Sisi... likes Garou instead of me?’

For the first time in his life, Kael felt confused about a woman’s feelings—and insecure about his own place in Sisi’s heart.

He had always treated both sexes the same, because he hated everyone and everything except Jojo.

But now that Sisi had entered his life, he wasn’t so sure anymore.

Kael wanted to be selfish.

He wanted to bind Sisi to his side forever, even if she hated him.

However, before going to such extremes, he needed to be certain of her feelings.

’Maybe I should give her a test...’ Kael thought. ’If she is seduced by Garou, then she... can leave...’

Kael closed his crimson eyes, suppressing the ruthless possessiveness surging within him.

’Garou will be her only chance,’ he decided. ’If she doesn’t like him, then I will make sure she stays by my side forever.’

He slowly opened his eyes. The crimson pupils gleamed brighter than before.

’But if she chooses Garou,’ Kael added silently, ’then she and Garou can leave...’

’...And I will kill them both outside the kingdom walls.’
