As all the members of the Jade Dragons and their allies were focused on their tasks, Dante and Netherius' battle was still ongoing, razing the area to the ground as if a powerful natural disaster had struck.

Whenever their scythes clashed, shockwaves appeared that shattered the buildings' walls and windows, strands of black lightning struck the area indiscriminately, and the necrotic air got denser.

After Dante managed to avoid one of Netherius' slices and retaliated, he was shocked when his attack was repelled, feeling a pressure in his gut that pushed him hundreds of meters into a crumbling structure.

Instead of continuing his attack, Netherius used his bone wings to hover in the air, glaring at the site where Dante crashed and waiting for him to stand back up.

*Ptoo* Dante spat out some blood as he removed the pieces of heavy debris that were crushing his body.

'I knew he would be stronger, but this is a bit ridiculous…' Dante thought.

As if knowing what the warlock was thinking, Netherius laughed, explaining that it was only natural for Dante to fall behind him as necromancers became much more powerful after their deaths.

"Even though you almost messed up all my plans, I almost want to thank you," Netherius continued.

Reminiscing about his time in Terra, Netherius remembered how he had started his deathly quest, which made him an enemy of the entire world.

Necromancers were said to become stronger after their deaths, but not all necromancers were powerful enough to cast a spell that could resurrect them after dying.

It was much easier for them to bring other corpses to life than their own, though it was not impossible.

During his investigation, he came across some of Wolfram's notes talking about the existence of another world, and that's how Netherius searched for the wizard to make a pact with him.

Wolfram didn't want to accept the deal at first, but Netherius' conditions seemed quite advantageous to the wizard. He wouldn't be under the necromancer's mental control, and he would keep all of his memories.

In return, Wolfram would share all of his research with the necromancer, and after some back and forth between them, they agreed to their terms.

Their alliance enabled Netherius to develop his resurrection skill, which he could only use at the last moment of his life.

From that point forward, Netherius began using his powers to destroy entire villages and cities, turning their residents into undead and causing chaos all over the world with the objective of improving his powers before someone took his life.

Netherius always expected to die after all the trouble he created, but Dante and his party ended his quest prematurely.

Still, the power he amassed over the years proved to be sufficient now that they were on Earth, and Netherius was proud of his plan.

"Others may have gotten a headstart over me in this world, but with all this power, I'll easily bring them to their knees!" Netherius shouted.

"Who else is here?" Dante asked, using the back of his hand to wipe the blood coming from his mouth.

The warlock already knew that there were other people from Terra that had traveled to Earth, considering he had met the vampires before the necromancer. However, the way Netherius described the others seemed to be referring to someone else.

Netherius laughed and covered his face for a moment. "You really don't know anything. The fact you made it here somehow is astonishing," he said.

The necromancer was right. During their time in the world of Terra, Dante hadn't shown a single speck of interest in other worlds, much less in its research.

He had heard rumors about it from time to time, but he truly didn't care about traveling to another world as he thought that he had enough problems on his own.

Since he never got into the research, the knowledge he had about 'others' who traveled to Earth was virtually none.

*Tsk, tsk* Netherius clicked his tongue. "Dante, it was only thanks to your luck that you were coincidentally brought here. But there are people out there who spent their entire lives researching a way to come here…" he explained.

"Do you really think you can stand against them?" Netherius asked.

Dante raised an eyebrow and scoffed. "Why would I fight them? I'm not you. I'm just trying to have a relaxing life," he replied.

"Hah! You really don't know anything!" Netherius shouted and chuckled.

"Well, nothing for you to worry about. I'll be the one dealing with them," he continued, raising both of his scythes in the air, making the earth rumble for a moment.

When hundreds of bone spikes began to extrude from the ground, Dante used his black-feathered wings to get away from the range of the attack, only to be met by Netherius in the air, clashing their relics once again.

Noticing that the bone spikes on the ground began to contort as if they were made of rubber, Dante's instincts kicked and prompted him to glide back and gain some distance from his opponent.

"Malevolent Art: Greed," Dante chanted, generating dozens of swirling golden portals above him.

As Netherius manipulated the bone spikes, their structure seemed to change materials from hardened bone to hardened bone whips, which had small sharp pieces extruding from them.

Right as the massive bone whips moved toward Dante at high speeds, he pointed his finger down, and a rain of weapons began to plummet from the golden portals, crashing against the bone whips and destroying them before they could get near the warlock.

"Death Art: Bone Stasis," Netherius said with a grin.

At that moment, Dante felt his entire body stiffing up to the point where he could barely move a muscle, making his eyes widen in shock. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

His weapons were still raining down on the bone whips, but when the number of attacks increased, Dante couldn't move and command his spell to protect him.

Gritting his teeth, Dante was pierced by numerous bone spikes in the gut, shoulder, and leg. Then, the bone tentacle flung him to the ground like a ragdoll, generating a large cloud of dust on the point of impact.

While the attack would have been fatal for anyone else, Netherius knew that Dante was much more durable than that. Still, the warlock wouldn't be able to keep up if he kept wounding him.
