Modern World Warlock-Chapter 362: Dante’s Reinforcements
When Dante stood up and shook the rubble off his body, a drop of blood trailed down from his forehead to his lips.
His eyes were sharpened with ferocity while glaring at the necromancer, and right as he clenched his fists, Netherius continued his onslaught of attacks on him.
Numerous bone spikes rained down on the battlefield, which looked as if it had been carpet bombed with all the destruction that surrounded them.
Dante understood that he would have to use every single ounce of power he could muster if he wanted to defeat Netherius, and even then, he wasn't sure he would be able to finish the job.
As he held onto his scythe and waved it to the side, a massive arch of black flames was shot straight at his opponent.
Netherius easily avoided taking damage by creating a large shield made of bones, but it gave Dante the perfect opportunity to approach since the shield slightly blocked his vision.
The necromancer was used to fighting from a distance when encountering other mages, and when he first fought Dante, the warlock did the same.
However, after Dante had trained with the Jade Dragons, his fighting style changed from that of a usual mage—and instead of using his spells to attack from a distance, Dante was using them as a distraction to get closer.
When Netherius sensed danger while his bone shield was active, he turned around and saw Dante had already reached his location, holding his scythe and slicing upwards, taking Netherius' arm with him.
"Death Art: Ruin!" Netherius shouted.
Not even a second after his chant, Dante felt excruciating pain all over his body, which he compared to the pain of being skinned alive.
Using his black-feathered wings to glide back, he managed to escape from the spell's range. Still, part of his skin looked like charcoal, crumbling apart.
It didn't take long for Netherius to regenerate his lost arm, and he even manipulated the bones on it to make it bigger with sharp fingers and knuckles.
When Netherius tried to use his "Death Art: Bone Stasis" to freeze Dante's movements again, the warlock instantly countered with a chant himself.
"Malevolent Art: Blood," he muttered.
Right when he felt a slight electric jolt freezing his body, Netherius rushed forward with both of his scythes, grinning from ear to ear while charging copious amounts of magic power.
Nonetheless, the necromancer couldn't get close as needle-like projectiles began to strike his body, and even though the needles were small, they were packed with the potency of a bullet.
As Netherius received a few shots that made him halt, he took a quick look at the needle stuck to his body and noticed that it was Dante's solidified blood.
Fortunately, Dante's defense was strong enough to hold out until his body was able to move again, instantly casting numerous destructive spells at the necromancer that prompted him to fly away from the danger.
When Netherius flew high up in the air, he began to scan his necropolis with a serious expression, wondering why the necrotic air was getting dimmer.
"Wolfram…" He said, grinding his teeth with anger.
Unbeknownst to the necromancer, Imera and Wolfram were paying a visit to his home, where he had been keeping Camille hostage.
There was a piece of information that nobody from the Jade Dragons or their allies were aware of, and that was that the biggest necrotic core was located in the mansion's basement.
The wizard explained that it acted as a battery for the hundreds of cores that were placed in the necropolis, and destroying it would greatly decrease the amount of power being transferred.
Destroying the large core wouldn't completely cleanse the city, but it would help in the battle by reducing the amount of energy Netherius could borrow from it.
Right after Imera used her magic to obliterate the core, they left the mansion with Camille and her two new subordinates, so even if the necromancer hurried back to his home, his enemies were long gone.
Knowing that it was too late for him to do anything about it, Netherius scoffed with displeasure and gazed back at Dante.
Frowning angrily and clenching his scythes, Netherius shrouded himself in necrotic energy and bolted straight at Dante. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Still, as he moved forward at high speeds, the necromancer felt a sudden wave of danger ahead and a thin red thread before him, prompting him to slide and avoid touching it.
When he turned his gaze to check what it was, more lines of threads appeared around him, and the necromancer could see that they were made of blood. However, he didn't sense Dante casting any spells.
As the threads began to move quickly in random directions, Netherius started to avoid them while rushing away from them, but it was to no avail. As soon as the threads made contact with his elbow, his entire arm was chopped off.
"Perfect!" Asphodel's voice could be heard coming from the sky.
With one arm missing from her opponent, Asphodel plummeted down with her mythic relic at the front.
The red threads disappeared into thin air right when the vampire mother got close to their perimeter, and before the necromancer could cast a spell to defend himself, Asphodel stabbed his chest with her mythic relic, pushing him down to the ground.
The force of the strike caused the ground to cave in, and a slight rumble shook their surroundings, generating a massive cloud of dust.
Balthazar, who had been controlling the red threads from a distance at the top of a building, seemed a bit satisfied with their performance. However, Dante stood firm and kept his gaze locked on the dust cloud.
When the elder vampire noticed the warlock's serious gaze, he looked back at the area where Asphodel crashed as a small drop of sweat trailed down his temple.
'No way…' Balthazar thought, sensing the necrotic energy getting heavier in the area.
In the blink of an eye, a flash appeared and blinded the vampire for a brief second, only to hear a loud 'boom' that made the building he was standing on shake violently.
Still, thanks to his connection with his mother, he could tell that Asphodel was the one who crashed into the building below him.
